The 6-series is the largest convertible model offered by BMW, and it embodies the spirit of classy, open-top grand touring in a very contemporary way. The 3.0-liter inline-six (640i) and 4.4-liter V-8 (650i) engines each produce 315 or 445 horsepower, respectively, and pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission in the 6-series. All-wheel drive is an option for all-weather capability, but rear-wheel drive is the default. In addition, a M Sport option is available with even more luxurious interior and external details for further glitz.

Given all of its electronic stability, traction, and dynamic controls affecting steering, suspension, and power, its on-road performance is astounding. On the track, however, it is constrained by its size and weight, which exceeds two tons. Faster is the tiny M5 sedan.
The weight, 4200 pounds for the coupe and 4500 pounds for the Gran Coupe, reduces fuel economy. With rear-wheel drive, the BMW 640i’s smaller engine achieves an EPA-rated 20/31/24 mpg City/Highway/Combined, while the BMW 650i’s V8 achieves 17/25/20 mpg. With all-wheel drive, both vehicles get roughly 1 mpg less.
The straight six engine’s wonderful sound is enhanced by the exhaust system used in the BMW 640i. To adjust the volume of the engine note that enters the cabin, turn on the Driving Experience Control switch (yes, that’s the term) (treble and bass are not yet programmed). Twenty years ago, when people were enjoying the M3’s scream, nobody would have imagined it would end up like this.
The BMW 650 was discontinued when?
BMW Motorrad, a division of the BMW group, is the manufacturer of the BMW G650GS and G650 Sertao motorcycles.
BMW reintroduced the original single-cylinder F650GS in late 2008 in the US, Latin America, China, Taiwan, and Australia under the new moniker G650GS. The new G650GS is simply the single-cylinder F650GS from 2007 that has been put back into production with a few minor changes and an engine built by Loncin in China rather than Rotax in Austria using components made by Rotax in Europe. The completed engines are sent back to BMW in Germany, where the motorcycles are put together. Black paint is used on G650GS bikes with Chinese-built engines, as opposed to silver on previous models with European-built engines. Before the bike was discontinued in 2007, Kymco in Taiwan briefly assembled the engines.
Over the F650GS of 2007, the G650GS gained some improvements: the engine now generates 3 more horsepower (now 53 hp), and a more powerful 400 watt alternator was added. ABS and heated grips are now standard features rather than extra-cost options in the US and Australia. The Official and Special Duty Vehicles division of BMW Motorrad offers the G650GS in an emergency services-specific configuration that includes blue lights and sirens.

The 2013 launch of the hatchback-like 3 Series was followed by an upgrade in 2016. While it had an unusual exterior, the 5 Series Gran Turismo, which was also cancelled and has since been replaced by the more traditionally styled 6 Series Gran Turismo, was far more unsightly. BMW, however, decided to stop making the 3 Series GT due to cost-cutting measures that were initially mandated by now-retired BMW CEO Harald Krueger, not just because of how it looked. Saving more than $13 billion is the ultimate objective.
BMW does not publish a detailed sales comparison of the 3 Series GT and the sedan, although it is safe to conclude that the former did not enjoy the same level of popularity as the latter.
The 3 GT was undoubtedly more of a niche player who was finding it harder and harder to make a case for itself in a crossover-dominated market. BMW is also lowering the number of its current drivetrain choices by roughly half by 2021, which will be made feasible by the switch to just two flexible platforms. Future vehicles will become less complex as a result, cutting down on development time.
