The 72-hole BMW Championship is the format. For the first two rounds, the field is split into morning and afternoon waves, with players competing in twosomes each day. In the first two rounds, all twosomes play together off the first tee. The morning wave has one round, and the afternoon wave has one round.
After 36 holes, the top 65 players and ties are not subject to a cut. Every participant in the starting field is qualified to compete.

Adam Scott’s path to the top of the leaderboard at the 2022 BMW Championship has been unusual because he is one of just two men to qualify for each iteration of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Now, by making it to East Lake, the first athlete born in the 2000s to win a TOUR event may strengthen his 2023 intentions.
Since the U.S. Open, Kim has moved up three spots on the PGA TOUR, placing sixth in total strokes gained and 12th in approach strokes gained. He has 15 straight rounds of par or better going into this week, which ties him for the second-longest active run on the TOUR.
