How Do I Know If My BMW Has Wifi Antenna?

Since I intend to activate apple carplay, which requires the wifi antenna, I need a means to check if I actually have it.

I’m worried that after paying for the FSC code, I won’t be able to activate for the missing antenna.

I used my VIN to check on BMW Tech. It appears that I can get Enhanced Bluetooth and Apple Carplay. There isn’t a wifi antenna cable in sight. So I suppose I’ll be all right.

Would you perhaps guide me in the direction of the eBay seller here or in a private message so that I can at least obtain the FSC code from someone once?

Using mdecoder, I was unable to locate The CarPlay preparation (6CP) option for my car.

Is there any other way to confirm I have the antenna using the vin search option for my car?

Where is the wifi antenna positioned is a different query. My wireless charging cradle was taken out of the armrest. Did I also remove the wifi antenna?

kubax86 I’m new here and I saw this thread when trying to troubleshoot my CarPlay. Although I just installed it, I can’t seem to make a connection. Could you please check the VIN and let me know if I have the necessary wifi antenna?

I’m also new here. Just purchased a m2 from early 2017 (still awaiting delivery, unfortunately), and I had the same questions regarding CarPlay and the wifi antenna.

I’m quite sure it’s under the trunk floor, to the left of the fuse box on the driver’s side, and in front of the battery compartment. If I’m wrong, do let me know.

Hello

The G01 with NBT EVO(Professional Navigation) doesn’t come with an antenna out of the box, so I finally made the decision to write out how to add one.

In the absence of the aforementioned choice:

If you don’t already have CarPlay or Screen Mirroring, you can add them to your 0609 Professional Navigation system. WiFi antennas can also be helpful if you experience connection or reception issues.

That applied to me. Since the G01 lacks any of those options, I made the decision to retrofit a WiFi antenna (which is a BIG deal because it takes 10-15 minutes to install). I had already enabled CarPlay and Fullscreen; the only thing left to do was with the antenna.

Here are some images of it being installed. It took me around 10 minutes, but this is not the first time I’ve done it. Torx Wrenches and plastic tools are required. Pretty simple and uncomplicated. Let me know if any of you have any questions.

Thanks to your guide, I was able to remove the trim, attach the antenna, and reassemble the device in under 40 minutes. However, it took me two weeks to realize that I hadn’t inserted the cable into the proper socket.

I did it now, and the entire process took me 15 minutes, including a second look at this thread.

I still don’t know what to do, despite the fact that the guide you posted instructed me to utilize a tool.

The wifi antenna doesn’t need to be coded in. Carplay cannot simply be coded; instead, a solution must be purchased from a third party vendor. This solution may be delivered via USB stick, but depending on your software version, you may also require a laptop and Ethernet cable.

Why does BMW CarPlay indicate there is no Internet connection?

Most likely, the phone is attempting to connect to the car’s wifi, which isn’t operational. It should be possible to either ‘forget’ the network from the phone or disable it in the CarPlay settings. Go to Settings for Mobile Devices. Shut everything down and only activate CarPlay.

Is a WiFi antenna present?

Radio waves are used by wireless devices to connect with one another wirelessly. These wireless transmissions are merely information-carrying electromagnetic waves (EM waves). EM waves are converted into electrical impulses by WiFi antennae, and the other way around.

Receiving and transmitting antennas are found on hotspots, mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and wireless routers. The EM waves carrying information packets are detected by the receiving antennas, which convert them into electrical signals that the device can use to process them. However, in order to transmit the information packets, the transmitting antennas transform electrical impulses into EM waves.

Where is my BMW’s SIM card?

I will be taking my car in for a year because I have an active ConnectedDrive subscription in another nation. The SIM obviously doesn’t support roaming; is there a simple way to replace it with a local SIM card? I’m aware that the automobile utilizes a local SIM at home. However, I’m unsure of where it is in the vehicle.

The TCB (tele unit) in the trunk is where the SIM card is located. You won’t get any benefit from changing the SIM because it needs to be registered on the BMW server.

The only thing you can do to make it function is to program your car so that it uses mobile data transfers rather than the car’s SIM (bluetooth)

It’s interesting; I had no idea this was a choice. How do I do that? Is it simple to do?

Why doesn’t my BMW have Apple CarPlay?

Please assist! Something odd is happening with my BMW’s Apple CarPlay system. It appears to have suddenly vanished! My BMW has been leased for just over a year, and the CarPlay has been functioning well. My phone stopped being associated with my computer yesterday, and now I can’t get it to operate. Why doesn’t my BMW have Apple CarPlay?

My God! That seems very frustrating. But it’s not that unusual for something like this to happen. There could be a number of reasons why your BMW does not support Apple CarPlay. Many drivers have reported similar problems following software updates from BMW.

Fortunately, you can try a few different things. This is what you ought to do:

  • Unpair and re-pair your phone after making sure that Siri, Bluetooth, and WiFi are all turned on. You should be able to connect to Apple CarPlay, we hope. If so, connect right now. Then you ought to be prepared.
  • Push the volume knob in and hold it if that doesn’t work. That should restart the computer and fix any software issues. After that, connecting to CarPlay should be simple.
  • Check your phone for software updates and install them if you’re still having trouble connecting.
  • By visiting to Settings > Screen Time > content & privacy restrictions, make sure CarPlay isn’t set to aRestricteda. Press Allowed Apps. If you see that CarPlay is off, turn it on. Your CarPlay should then function properly.
  • For a few hours, leave your automobile in a location where you know WiFi and Bluetooth signals will be strong. Some BMWs experience problems with CarPlay simply because they are parked in garages with inadequate signal.

After doing all of that, if CarPlay is still not functioning, it may be time to bring your BMW in for a software update. If everything else fails, a system update ought to restore order.
