There isn’t a race-style seat option, just a little sportier chair. To be clear, if you overlook that, the purpose of a family SUV is lost. The traditional BMW sports steering wheel is still excessively thick, though.
A standard 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system that looks great and responds well to your inputs was included in the 2021 facelift. The instruments and switches continue to have excellent clarity.

2004-2010 BMW X3
In 2004, the X3 was first made available. While 2C’s buckle is flexible, those on 2D and 2P are rigid. Forward-facing car seats and high back boosters will not fit in 2C since the head restraint is fixed, projecting, and not detachable. Only some infant seat bases (such the Chicco Fit2) and some rear-facing convertibles will fit in 2C. (like a Clek Foonf).
BMW X7
The Audi Q7 was the only SUV we examined that could accommodate our three child seats across its second row. With Isofix mounts, we utilized two Britax Romer seats, and a Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus was belted in.
The BMW X5 (in optional seven-seat configuration) and Land Rover Discovery (which has seven seats as standard) were two other SUVs that could accommodate three child car seats, with older children occupying the third row. It would be feasible to fit three people in the middle row, though, if you use an Isofix-mounted seat as opposed to a seat that is belted in.
In any case, the second row of the BMW X3 cannot fit three kid seats because it is 11 cm thinner than the X5. Additionally, it is only 9 cm wider than the 3 Series Touring, so we don’t believe an adult would find it much more comfortable to sit between two child seats. More than 17,000 locally recalled BMW X3, X4 SUVs have an ISOFIX issue.
Local authorities have issued a recall for 17,894 BMW X3 and X4 SUVs because of a problem with the brackets used to install ISOFIX-compatible child seats.
The recall includes every second-generation X3 and first-generation X4 that have been sold in Australia to date, totaling 15,097 “F25” BMW X3s and 2797 “F26” BMW X4s constructed between December 2010 and April 2016 for the X3 and between May 2014 and April 2016 for the X4.
The ISOFIX brackets “may break under certain conditions due to vibration stress,” according to the official recall notice posted on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) product safety website.
The warning states that if the brackets break, there is a higher risk of injury in the event of an accident.
The fix, according to BMW Australia’s product communications manager Adam Davis, entails adding more bracket supports via welding. It is expected to take 1.5 hours to complete, and buyers will not be charged for the work; they will just be notified by mail.
