(I am qualified to make this statement since I served in a war zone and after I separated from the military, I was married to a military spouse who was on active duty while I was a civilian.)
The real kicker is that it doesn’t matter what either you or I think—the rules aren’t set by us. Since this is a kind gesture on the part of the retailers, it is always preferable to abide by their guidelines.
