I have a few things to say…
3. Warranty – No, it won’t void any warranties; however, it might “issue” the bluetooth and nav warranties. You may count on the dealer, “or a sub-contracted installer selected by the BMW dealership,” to take care of any problems you could encounter with these technologies. Later, if you have any aesthetic or installation problems, they can be resolved at the time of servicing; the dealer would be liable. I’m not exactly sure who is in charge of warranty issues—the BMW network as a whole or an individual dealer. My sales contract specifically mentions tinting, therefore I would expect any BMW dealer is accountable and able to help. If they refused, I would argue my position. When you need help, the guy down the block and around the corner might not be in business.
You’re missing the point, I’m afraid. No warranty will be immediately voided if tint is installed, regardless of who does it. However, if you experience any issues as a result of the tint, these will not be resolved. It makes no difference whether it was put by a BMW technician at a BMW dealer, by a third party the dealer hired, or by you taking it to your local tint shop. Any type of tint you purchase will not be covered by a BMW warranty because BMW does not sell tint. The cost of the repairs must be covered by your installer (the dealer or anybody else).
For the record, your dealer, not BMW, will provide warranty coverage for any accessories you have put on your car that are not BMW accessories with a BMW component number. Therefore, even if it is stated in the sales contract, you must resolve any issues with the selling dealer. You cannot repair your tint at a different dealer.
Feel free to have your tint installed at the dealership, but as several here have mentioned, if you do your research and locate a truly competent installer in your region, you might be able to obtain a better cost and an equally good (or better) job.

The ease of having your car’s windows tinted at the dealership
Many people opt for the window tinting that the dealership offers when purchasing a new vehicle. This saves you the inconvenience of transporting the car to a window tinting company because they tint the car before you pick it up. They also enjoy the concept of financing the price so you don’t have to pay cash up front. Dealerships will also misrepresent the window film warranty to you. When you purchase a tent, it is typically installed the night before you pick it up.
They tell you a lot of things, such as the fact that it is a Two Yoda product and therefore comes with a guarantee from the manufacturer or the possibility of warranty issues if you don’t use their high-quality tint if it interacts with any sensors. This is untrue, and you’re using fear tactics to seal the deal. When getting your car’s window tinted at the dealer, there are a lot of things to think about. elements like the price, the film’s quality, and the length of the warranty are just a few examples.
Does window tint affect a BMW’s warranty?
A manufacturer is not permitted to reject a claim under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act simply because the car has aftermarket components. The aftermarket component directly contributed to the vehicle’s problem, so the manufacturer must demonstrate that the warranty is void.
For instance, the manufacturer would have to demonstrate that the installation of the tinted windows caused the door damage if the door was damaged as a result of adding window tint. The automobile owner is still entitled to the warranty if the manufacturer is unable to substantiate this, and it cannot be simply revoked because they added aftermarket car window tint.
Knowing the legislation in your state is also crucial because they may have an impact on the warranty. Some states have limitations on the types of tinting you can get and even the amount of tint you can have on your house or car. Anyone who wants to have tinted windows done should be aware of their state rules because they may affect whether the warranty is still in effect or not.
BMW privacy glass – what is it?
PRIVACY GLASS: WHAT IS IT? Privacy glass is a unique sort of glass that has been darkened at the factory by the car maker and is frequently referred to as “factory tint.” The glass is dyed instead of using a window film, and it typically has low heat rejection properties.
Can a BMW lease be tinted?
It will be my first time renting a car, therefore I’m wondering if I tint the windows by someone else BMW, will there be a problem at the conclusion of the lease and whether I’ll have to take the tint out. I am aware that I can have it done at BMW, which would be fine, but the cost might be exorbitant.
Window tinting has never been a problem for me when I’ve been leasing a car, and I’ve never had a dealer install it. Most people want tinted windows so the car’s value won’t be diminished when you trade it in.
Technically, I think you’re supposed to bring the car back without anything in it. My friend had to remove the tint from his rented E60 M5 before returning it. Dealers may, however, differ slightly.
I believe it is technically true, but in FL, the majority of people tint their windows, and CPO vehicles are available with tint, thus it is much less likely to be a problem than in some other regions of the nation. If you tint the glass more than is permitted, there might be an exemption, but even so, it seems dubious in this case.
I’ve now leased six vehicles, at least. Each has been tinted. Although I didn’t end up returning every one of them at the conclusion of the lease (some were sold, changed out of, etc.), I haven’t encountered any problems.
On my previous vehicle (a 2011 335 ix coupe), I was assessed a $250 fee for extra wear and tear. The car had tints, black kidney grills (I had lost the factory ones), and curb rash on one tire when I turned it in.
As long as the tint complies with the requirements of your state’s automobile code, you won’t encounter any problems. Stick with 30–35% tint and you’ll be OK because Florida is 28%.
If the tint was not applied by BMW, the dealer would often request that you remove it during a lease return.
Cars are not tinted by BMW. No matter who installs the tint on your car—the dealer, a third party, or you—it is still tint. The only issue with turning in a car with tint is that if the tint is too dark or fails an inspection, the dealer might not be able to sell the car.
How long does window tinting take?
Naturally, estimating the time depends on your car. There are many factors to take into account, including the amount of window surface area the installer must work with, the complexity of the window forms, the number of windows, and whether or not old tint needs to be removed. In general, larger vehicles require more time than two-door vehicles.
It may take an hour and a half to two hours for a typical four-door vehicle. The process can take up to two hours or longer on larger cars with a lot of glass surface area, a steep window rake, or intricate window curves.
Can the factory tint be taken off?
A automobile window’s factory tint cannot be removed since the glass has been combined with the dyes and pigments. Aftermarket tinting film can be peeled off of the glass with the help of tools, and solvents can be used to dissolve the adhesive coating.
How much does a four-door car cost to tint?
Let’s start here since cost is nearly always a factor. Even with premium brands, window tints are not excessively expensive. The typical range for a whole automobile tint is $100 to $400. However, it’s better to be sincere with your finances and with yourself before making a purchase. If you only have $100 to spend, you might be better off using that money somewhere else. Cheaper tints are cheap, but they also look cheap, which completely negates the point. Be not that person.
How long after tinting should windows remain open?
After window film installation, we advise leaving your car windows rolled up for at least 24 hours. Prior to moving the window, this enables the film to cure and stick to the glass.
What percentage of windows are tinted most frequently?
Shades and percentages are affected by the amounts of visual transmission. These are shown using percentages that depict the amount of visible light that passes through the window film.
Less light may in because of the lower percentages. More light is allowed into the vehicle as the percentage increases.
For most owners, a 50% blockage is the default choice. This is a good alternative for sun protection and is permitted by the majority of state legislation. In all of the United States, the legal tint average is set at 50%.
The most prevalent tints, in terms of popularity, are 35 and 20 percent. These tints are typically found on freshly produced vehicles as a “industry standard” and block more UV rays.
If you choose to go with the 5 percent look, your car will appear more like a limousine. One of the darkest choices for auto tint percentages, it frequently exceeds the permitted tint percentages.
What distinguishes privacy glass from tinted glass?
There are several uses for privacy glass and tinted windows on cars. Both will give you seclusion and a stylish appearance. Here are a few variations.
The privacy glass in your car is renowned for keeping you private and letting in very little light. It is made of a glass that is inherently less translucent than other types of glass. The factory that makes your car installs privacy glass. Privacy glass is typically utilized on a car’s back windows. It is typically found on trucks and SUVs.
Privacy glass does not have a number of advantages that window tint does. Unlike privacy glass, tinted windows can be made darker and come in a number of hues. Window tint provides UV protection, heat rejection, and glare reduction. These advantages are not present with privacy glass. The heat you feel is infrared heat, which is blocked by certain of our ceramic coatings to a degree of about 98%. Additionally, our film blocks out 99% of UV rays, which can deteriorate your inside and result in skin cancer.
Does an exhaust void my BMW’s warranty?
The fact is that, in most circumstances, installing an aftermarket exhaust system on your car won’t violate its warranty. Take note of the word “most circumstances.” a Your warranty will be OK and continue to be in effect if your new system does not harm any other parts of the car.
Your warranty (or a portion of it) will be void, though, if a fault develops that a mechanic can link to the aftermarket equipment you installed. Let’s imagine, for example, that after installing a full header-back aftermarket exhaust system, the catalytic converter failed as a result of the aftermarket system’s design. You’d have to pay for a new cat out of your own cash and the guarantee would be null and void.
On the other hand, your warranty would still be in effect if the mechanic was unable to link the failure to the aftermarket system. Dealerships and automakers don’t actually want to invalidate your warranty, but they also don’t want to be held responsible for expensive repairs or replacements brought on by something you did that wasn’t their fault.
