Does BMW 3-Series Have Folding Mirrors?

You may electronically adjust the side mirrors on your BMW by pressing the button on the inside of the driver’s door. To choose which mirror you want to change, first move the toggle to the left or right. Using the matching arrows on the adjustment button, the angle of the mirror can then be adjusted up, down, left, or right. The handy auto-dip feature is activated by keeping the toggle in the right hand position. The passenger mirror will automatically tilt downward to provide a better view of the curb and any nearby objects while reverse gear is engaged. Disabling this function requires moving the switch to the left. Either the fold button on the driver’s door or the lock button on the key fob can be used to fold the wing mirrors in. The rearview mirror is simple to manually place in the ideal position.

On a BMW 3 Series, how do you fold the automated side mirrors?

Nothing could be simpler for this final type of mirror, as your side mirrors will fold down and open every time you open or lock your BMW 3 Series. On some automatic versions, you may still manually fold down your mirrors, but you must exercise extreme caution because, often, after manually folding them down, you must open them through the electric opening to adjust the mirrors’ movement.

If you frequently park in confined locations, you can fold in your side mirrors to make entry easier. People frequently fold their side mirrors in confined situations to prevent other people from walking into them and breaking them.

By the way, I think power folding mirrors are an option for the E90 325 even without the premium package.

However, in order to access it, you MUST have the premium package.

The premium pack is included with the 330.

That’s accurate. But at least the mirrors fold manually without the premium package. The mirrors on my E46 didn’t even fold. The comments up top are accurate. Troy’s mirrors (who got the premium package) folded automatically, but I had to open my window and reach out to fold mine. I told him that it was incredibly humiliating and made me feel quite inadequate.

Ja, exactly! I genuinely don’t recall ever in my life folding side mirrors. Here in Jersey, we just call Tony and ask him to have his men “remind” people to park farther away from my BMW. Capisce?

Huh? Mirrors on my 323Ci fold. They fold, but not in terms of power. How could yours remain intact?

I didn’t try hard enough, though perhaps they did. They appeared to fold, but when I applied some standard force and they resisted, I gave up. Never needed to fold them in. Anyway, without a car, I can’t try folding them any more. It’s a valid point, though. Perhaps I didn’t work hard enough.

Electric wing mirrors can be operated remotely for folding, central locking, or comfort access.

  • The wing mirrors can be remotely folded in by holding the BMW emblem on the remote control for a longer period of time.
  • The mirrors will quickly extend when the car is unlocked.

Although it may seem simple, electric folding mirrors must be factory installed. You do not have electronic folding mirrors if your car does not have the button highlighted in yellow below that was factory installed. You simply don’t have them; they are neither hidden nor waiting to be turned on.

Factory installed electric folding mirrors are necessary for this upgrade. Obviously, they cannot be remotely operated if they are not fitted. If they are factory installed, you can code this function into your car for PS91.67 + VAT.

If you have an iDrive navigation system, I believe you may access it via the settings menu. If not, I am clueless. Read the owner’s manual, if necessary.

Yes, I read the owners manual in its entirety. I’ve read that holding down your remote’s lock button for a short period of time will cause the mirrors to fold. I haven’t done this and am uncertain as to whether it will remain that way when I lock regularly the following time.

Yes, the button that folds the mirrors is the small round one that is located to the left of the left-right adjustment switch.

I have access to both premium and comfort levels, but I’m not sure which of those plans includes that button.

Of course, you may just press the button, but I’d prefer if it were done automatically. It would be so simple to program, but alas, I can’t have everything.

They have a gadget that accomplishes this that you can connect up for the 3 series. I emailed them to request assistance with the 1 series. If people submit requests, I’m confident it will be completed more quickly.

Mirrors that fold up are included in the Premium Package. The door mounted switch is the only way to operate the folding mirrors, according to the manuals for both iDrive and non-iDrive vehicles. They automatically fold out at 25 mph after folding in up to roughly 12 mph.

When the car is locked, the mirrors on my 135 fold. I know there must be a setting, but I can’t recall how I started it. At roughly 30 km/h, they automatically fold out. The mirrors didn’t usually fold up, but one day after playing with them, I closed the car with my thumb on the door handle (C/A). Since then, they have been automatically folding.

Either the comfort access lock on the door handle or the key fob lock button can be used for this. Your mirrors will fold in if you just keep it there for a short while.

I recently purchased a used 2018 X1 Sport. I’ve tried briefly depressing the lock button on the key fob, but the door mirrors will not fold. Do ALL X1 models have the ability to fold, or may I only have a simpler model without this capability? In the car settings, I don’t find anything that would enable this. Can I manually fold if necessary if auto folding is not possible? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Your mirrors should be able to be folded if you have a button by the mirror controls. It must be coded if you want it to fold automatically each time you lock the car. Invoking BimmerCode

I appreciate your response, Rounderman. Only buttons to modify each mirror are present by the X1 mirror controls. Therefore, I’m considering the possibility that my model doesn’t support that function.

Thank to everybody. Overall, I believe that since power folding mirrors are not an option on this car, no amount of Bimmercode will be able to activate them.

Are there folding mirrors on the 320i?

I looked over the thread but came up nothing. Even after calling three dealers, I received inconsistent responses.

Do the power-folding side view mirrors on the 2014 320i xdrive with modern and lights package come standard?

1) The online configurator does not display a power mirror button.

2) According to three dealers I contacted, out of the automobiles on the lots they investigated, two had them and one didn’t. (All three claimed it was a contemporary line with a lights-only package.)

Can anyone with this car tell me if the modern line and lights package come with power folding side vision mirrors?

One car that I programmed had the exact same build date as mine (07/12), and both of our vehicles were classic lines with just the premium pack and lighting pack.

His car lacked folding mirrors, whereas mine did. I’m not sure if the fact that mine was AW and his was black makes a difference.

It’s unquestionably quite strange. Just make sure yours has folding mirrors; if it doesn’t, I won’t take receipt of it. Any changes on the situation will be shared with you people.

And whether you receive that is dependent on whether it is a standard feature for a certain model or series. If not, I believe it is a problem with the specific order.

to answer my own query. I took the car home, and the mirrors are power-folding. We appreciate all of the responses and assistance. sincerely appreciated
