I’m merely speculating, but I would imagine that additional packages AFTER purchase would be both feasible and pricey. For instance, since I believe there is a camera or sensor in the housing, driver’s assist may call for new mirror housings. The custom buttons must then be added to the left side of the dashboard and wired.
Although those retrofits MIGHT be feasible, I can assure you that the dealer will not even consider them. Only professional retrofitters, like bimmertech, have the necessary skills, but the cost of a drivers assistance retrofit may be too high. As of yet, no one has completed a successful ACC retrofit. Visit their website at www.bimmer-tech.net to view the selection. However, most are not inexpensive, so be ready.

Owners of BMW vehicles will be able to add options after purchase thanks to software updates.
The most recent wave of technology upgrades from BMW enhance its in-car software and are accessible on some new vehicles manufactured in July or later, including the revised 2021 5 Series, as well as some models via over-the-air updates. Customers will be able to add new features to their BMW after purchase thanks to over-the-air updates, according to plans also made public by BMW.
BMW will permit you to add additional features to your new vehicle after purchase.
Through the company’s redesigned ConnectedDrive Store, purchasers of new BMW models will be able to add extra features to their vehicles after making a purchase.
Owners of BMW vehicles will be able to turn on features like the High-Beam Assistant, Active Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop&Go, and the BMW Drive Recorder, with the German automaker adding more features over time.
According to Peter Henrich, Senior VP, BMW Product Management, “We aim to offer our clients additional levels of pure driving pleasure, including the newest digital services and the ability to book functions as needed.” “All new BMW automobiles are currently technologically capable for this, and we will gradually increase this offering,” said BMW.
Customers will thus be presented with brand-new digital options for things that might not have been accessible at the time they purchased or leased their vehicle. That covers new vehicles that were first bought in August 2019 and equipped with BMW’s Remote Software Upgrade technology (on the Operating System 7.0).
This comes after BMW announced it will charge an annual fee for Apple CarPlay functionality in its vehicles. That revelation drew criticism, but the German automaker is sure that this is the right move. In the long run, Henrich continued, “we could also foresee digital services being tied to the client who books them rather than the car.” Future updates could bring about features like Adaptive M Suspension or Remote Engine Start.
The High-Beam Assistant and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go appear to be available on every car, but in order to activate the BMW Drive Recorder, your car must be equipped with the Parking Assistant Plus, which has the necessary camera hardware. Of course, for that to happen, BMW will have to equip its models with all the necessary hardware from the start, a practice pioneered by Tesla.
According to Jens Thiemer, Senior VP, Client and Brand BMW, “Our goal is to ensure that the customer no longer has to adjust to the peculiarities of their car, but that the vehicle is instead directed towards their particular and individual requirements.”

No and yes.
Right now, the dealerships are offering good deals. You can discover a brand-new vehicle with 0% financing that enables you to advance in the models. Using Costco, we purchased two new trucks last year. We received a 100,000-mile warranty and $2500 in savings through their buyer program.
You’re better off purchasing it right now. These jobs are frequently done incorrectly by dealers, and your original warranty won’t cover them. I concur with the earlier poster that, given the current state of the economy, you can probably find them for near to nothing if you shop about.
I just found out that it was feasible. I was informed by the Toyota dealership that I could pay $1,900 to upgrade to a leather inside at any time. That possibility surprised me. Amazing.
Yes, the dealer installed leather on my friend’s Scion tC. Naturally, the dealer is not performing the work. They are outsourcing it to a third party for less money.
I wonder whether most dealerships are merely franchises and not corporate owned or why the dealer didn’t send them back to its factory for the upgrade.
I’m looking for a reasonably priced sport luxury coupe or sedan, but I don’t know much about the reliability of Mercedes Benz. Even so, since the late 90s and early 2000s, it has become better.
Most of your questions I can’t answer because I don’t know, but for my friend’s Scion TC, the dealer offered to install leather for a fee because it wasn’t a factory option. Of course, my buddy could have brought her automobile to a third party herself and saved some money.
I recently bought a BMW 530i Sedan, and while I’m disappointed that I didn’t get the complete package I wanted, I know the dealer won’t allow me return the vehicle. I might be able to upgrade the package for the car. I accept that my monthly payment will increase and am willing to make up the difference.

BMW will allow customers to purchase aftermarket features
Even after you’ve bought the car, BMW will allow you to add extras like heated seats on a subscription basis.
According to Roadshow, the equipment will be pre-installed in the car, but in order to use it, you must pay for it through subscriptions that last between three months and three years.
The benefit is that you can turn off the heated seats in the winter or add adaptive cruise control before a long drive. Additionally, the second owner of the vehicle can choose to subscribe to an entirely other set of features.
The ability to activate a Drive Recorder after purchasing a car is already available, according to BMW, and this capability is now being extended to other “comfort functions or driver support systems.”
The automaker stated that it is also looking into ways to enhance “in-car connectivity in the future,” but made no further details available.
BMW did not react when we enquired about if the new subscription service would include infotainment features.
Numerous auto magazines noted that BMW first attempted to charge for CarPlay before making it a free feature.
In a news release, the automaker stated, “The car is viewed by BMW as a digital platform.
BMW has developed the technical foundation for updating cars, introducing new car functionalities, and swiftly and easily installing them over the air using Remote Software Upgrade.”
It continued, “In the form of digital after-sales, BMW already provides its clients with digital services and extra car features, some of which are deeply integrated into the software of the vehicle. BMW Drive Recorder is made available in the US as part of a pilot initiative. In the near future, more features with access to the vehicle’s current hardware and software, including specific comfort features or driver assistance systems, will be introduced.”
Following earlier BMW announcements of a new smartphone-as-key function and a wireless Android Auto alternative, the company this week announced a new subscription service.
Hello,
My BMW was recently purchased. Ordered on April 21, 2021; delivered on April 29, 2021. Model X3 Xdrive 20i MSport I saw that it included the Driving Assistant Package among other things. It was my understanding that the Driving Assistant Plus Package will appear.
Now that the car has already been acquired, is it possible to upgrade to the Driving Assistant Plus Package in the UK, adding the further technologies that are included with it?
The following is also added by the “Plus”:
For a while, Driving Assistant Plus wasn’t a selectable option that could be ordered. Unless an M40/M model is selected, the latest version known as Driving Assistant Profesional is also not offered for the LCI X3.
AFAIK, it is not possible to retrofit the “plus” components, which also contain active cruise control. In April, I attempted to order the Driving Assistant Plus, a PS1750 option, but was unsuccessful.
