Can 3 Car Seats Fit In A BMW 3 Series?

We use a Britax Marathon convertible seat, a Graco TurboBooster seat, and a Graco SnugRide Classic Connect 30 infant safety seat for the Car Seat Check. A 6-foot driver and a shorter passenger can both fit comfortably in the front seats. The second row is equipped with the three child seats. The infant and convertible seats are installed behind the front passenger seat, while the booster seat is installed behind the driver’s seat.

In order to determine whether three car seats will fit in the vehicle, we also place the forward-facing convertible in the middle seat of the second row and the booster and infant seat in the outside seats. A child in the booster seat must be able to reach the seat belt buckle. We install the booster seat and a forward-facing convertible if there is a third row. Find out more about the car seat checks we perform.

Additionally, parents need to be aware that the Latch system and seat belts can both be used to install a car seat, and that the combined weight of the kid and the seat itself cannot exceed 65 pounds when using a Latch anchor.

BMW X7

The Audi Q7 was the only SUV we examined that could accommodate our three child seats across its second row. With Isofix mounts, we utilized two Britax Romer seats, and a Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus was belted in.

The BMW X5 (in optional seven-seat configuration) and Land Rover Discovery (which has seven seats as standard) were two other SUVs that could accommodate three child car seats, with older children occupying the third row. It would be feasible to fit three people in the middle row, though, if you use an Isofix-mounted seat as opposed to a seat that is belted in.

In any case, the second row of the BMW X3 cannot fit three kid seats because it is 11 cm thinner than the X5. Additionally, it is only 9 cm wider than the 3 Series Touring, so we don’t believe an adult would find it much more comfortable to sit between two child seats. Therefore, if you want the flexibility of being able to fit older kids in the third row, we’d advise choosing a seven-seat X5.

To be sure they fit, we usually advise car purchasers to try their child seats in any prospective purchase because child seats come in a variety of sizes.

One of the nicest cars I’ve driven this year is the BMW 3 Series. The two outside chairs have ISOFix points. Because the outer ends of the seat base are so contoured to almost contact the doors, we discovered there was only space for two child seats.

Practically speaking, the legroom is adequate and a 180 cm driver may sit in front with a rear-facing child seat installed.

Can car seats fit in a 7-seater’s back seat?

According to a recent report, parents who have three kids have the most stress to deal with. Having one or two children may change your life, but having a third child adds a whole new set of difficulties. You’re likely to discover that your automobile is no longer big enough to accommodate the entire family in addition to the fact that the majority of family tickets for activities and multi-packs of meals come in multiples of four.

When Renault introduced the Espace MPV in 1984, it was one of the first automakers to recognize that not all families consisted of the traditional two parents and two children. However, as SUVs have replaced many families’ beloved boxy “multi-purpose cars” or “people carriers,” the appeal of these vehicles is dwindling.

Despite having seven seats on average, not all MPVs and some SUVs can fit more than two child car seats in the second and third rows. It’s also not feasible for parents to sit in the rear, wedged between two child seats, even though you might be able to utilize the front passenger seat in some vehicles. A youngster in a rearward-facing seat should never utilize the front seat unless the airbag has been deactivated, which is not always simple to perform. Children are often thought to ride in cars safelyst in the back seats.

So, in order to assist parents in choosing the best vehicles for larger families, we gathered the top competitors in three categories: large SUVs, luxury SUVs, and MPVs. We then attempted to accommodate three kid seats into their second and third rows. Even though there was just one electric vehicle with more than five seats at the time of our test—the Tesla Model X—we’ve nonetheless included a category for them.

We selected a seat for an older child, one for a toddler, and an infant carrier. While the Group 0+ infant seat can be used with either an Isofix base or a seatbelt, the two larger seats can only be secured by Isofix mounts.

Our findings are based on both our own physical testing as well as Euro NCAP safety tests, which determine whether using a kid seat is allowed in each position for a seat. Owner’s manuals for vehicles also contain this information.
