Where Is Audi Q4 E Tron Made

A media rumor claims that due to great demand, Audi plans to begin producing its Zwickau-made Q4 e-tron electric SUV in Brussels starting in November 2022. The VW planning meeting on December 9 will be where the final decision is taken.

According to business circles, Automobilwoche reported this. The Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback are currently constructed in the VW facility in Zwickau, Saxony, alongside other MEB vehicles, specifically the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, and Cupra Born. At Skoda’s primary manufacturing facility in Mlada Boleslav, only the Skoda Enyaq is built as a MEB model.

The Volkswagen brand has already raised the possibility of using the Wolfsburg factory for excess production because to the generally high demand. However, it appears that Audi is also thinking about constructing the Q4 e-tron in a second factory in the future. The decision is alleged to have been taken in favor of the Belgian facility in Brussels and against the Neckarsulm combustion engine location.

Since 2018, Audi has solely produced the e-tron quattro and its Sportback derivative in Brussels. The larger Audi SUV is still built on the MLB Evo combustion engine platform, unlike the MEB model Q4 e-tron. Brussels is also where the e-tron quattro’s batteries are put together. It is unknown if MEB battery packs will be shipped pre-assembled or if Audi will follow suit with the Q4 e-tron.

What is certain, however, is what will occur at the Brussels factory starting in 2026: as Audi CEO Markus Duesmann stated at a local event in November, Audi aims to start producing the Q8 e-tron in Belgium at that time. While the e-tron quattro (technically connected to the internal combustion model Q5) and the future Q6 e-tron (from Ingolstadt from 2023) are in a different class, the huge electric SUV is projected to be about the same size as the internal combustion model Q7.

The overflow production of the Q4 e-tron would be a huge success for Brussels if the planning round next week is successful. The factory likely also bid to produce the Audi Artemis vehicle, but the Hanover plant of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles won the contract. The German plant in Neckarsulm, where, according to the source, expectations had also been banked on gaining production of an electric car model, would have lost to Brussels if the information from Automobilwoche is accurate.

The Audi Q4 Etron is produced where?

Germany Audi intends to use its plant in Brussels to manufacture the recently released Q4 e-tron full-electric SUV.

Due to strong demand for the SUV, Audi is increasing excess Q4 e-tron production in Brussels, according to corporate sources. The VW ID3 and ID4 as well as the Cupra Born models are now produced in VW’s plant in Zwickau, Germany, along with the Q4 e-tron. The MEB electric-car platform from VW Group is used by all of the EVs.

At its meeting on December 9 to examine and approve the most recent, five-year strategic plan for the group, the supervisory board of the Volkswagen Group will make the ultimate decision about Audi’s plan.

The second EV to be produced at the Belgian factory would be the Q4 e-tron. The factory has been producing the bigger Audi e-tron and its e-tron Sportback variant from 2018.

According to company sources speaking to Automobilwoche in June, Audi also intends to replace production of the e-tron and e-tron Sportback with a battery-powered version of its top-of-the-line SUV, the Q8, in Brussels in 2026. Later, Markus Duesmann, the CEO of Audi, acknowledged the strategy.

The MLB Evo platform from Audi, which is being phased out in favor of the Premium Platform Electric developed in partnership with Porsche, serves as the foundation for the e-tron and e-tron Sportback.

Germany’s Neckarsulm Audi facility had hoped to secure Q4 e-tron overflow production.

The only Audi factory that specializes on making electric vehicles is in Brussels. Additionally, it had made a bid to make Audi’s premium electric Artemis model beginning in 2024, but it was unsuccessful because VW’s commercial vehicle factory in Hanover, Germany was chosen to build the EV.

Audi said in June that it would stop producing internal combustion engines by the beginning of the next decade, with the exception of China, as the business quickens its shift to being an electric-only automaker.

The Audi e-tron is produced where?

An all-electric coup SUV called the e-tron Sportback made its debut at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show as a concept. It shares a similar drivetrain and battery with the e-tron SUV. The two vehicles are made in Brussels, Belgium. [10] Similar to the e-tron SUV, the car’s battery is liquid-cooled. [11]

The 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show saw the debut of the final product. Deliveries from Europe and America began in 2020. [12][13]

EPA range for the 2020 e-tron Sportback is 218 miles.

[14] Because a bigger portion of the battery’s capacity is usable, it is better than in the 2019 e-tron SUV. The e-tron’s battery management system retains a portion of the battery’s capacity as a buffer, which is separate from its usable capacity; now, the buffer’s size has been reduced to free up more of the battery’s useful capacity. In contrast to the e-tron Sportback, which went into production later, this modification was added to the e-tron SUV throughout the manufacturing run.

Where are Audi electric vehicles produced?

From 2028 onward, the main Audi plant in Ingolstadt, Germany, will only build electric vehicles. As a result, the electric A6’s replacement will likely be constructed at the main facility rather than in Neckarsulm.

Given that the Ingolstadt facility has not yet manufactured a single electrified vehicle, these plans are rather ambitious. Ingolstadt should produce 50% of all vehicles in just three years that are entirely electric “Only electric vehicles will thereafter be produced in Ingolstadt starting in 2028, an Audi official told Der Spiegel.

The Q6 e-tron will be the first model made in Ingolstadt. The first prototypes are already being produced, according to the spokeswoman for Audi, and series production is scheduled to begin in 2023. The Q6 e-tron is built on the brand-new PPE electric platform, which Porsche will concurrently use to debut the electric Macan replacement.

“The electric E6, the spokesperson continued, will then replace the A6. This is unexpected considering that the A6which is currently in the C8 generationis produced in the Neckarsulm facility of Audi. Therefore, it had previously been expected that the electric version would likewise leave that factory. Given that the production lines for the Q6 e-tron are already being modified for the PPE at the main factory, manufacture in Ingolstadt does make sense. Apart from the A6 model designation, the model has little resemblance to the internal combustion versions produced in Neckarsulm. These might also be utilized by the E6, which is most likely based on the A6 e-tron idea displayed in China.

Less shocking than the information regarding the E6 are Audi’s other revelations: “According to Peter Mosch, head of Audi’s Works Council, the electric replacements for the current A3 and A4 combustion engines will be available by 2029. However, he did not say on what platform these electric versions will be based.

In June 2021, Audi announced that, with the exception of the Chinese market, it will only introduce new models starting in 2026 with pure electric drive and would gradually stop producing internal combustion engines by 2033.

While the Audi facility in Brussels is already all electric

Since 2018, the e-tron quattro has been produced there, and it has been revealed that Ingolstadt will follow suit with the manufacturing of the Q8 e-tron PPE SUV. For Neckarsulm, no such detailed plans have yet been made public, but given Audi’s aspirations, this should happen shortly. According to the spokesperson, by the middle of the decade, “In time, Neckarsulm will also house all-electric vehicles. The E6 second generation should thus be included in this.
