Audi SQ8, a variant with a focus on performance, was introduced in June 2019 with updated styling, technology, and chassis. An electric-powered compressor helps the turbocharger when starting and accelerating from slower speeds. It does this by increasing the intake pressure to make up for the turbo’s lack of boost at low revs and so enhancing the smoothness of the power delivery.
The same 48V lithium-ion battery pack that powers the mild-hybrid powertrain of the SQ8 supplies power to the compressor as well. It can power the SQ8 at speeds of up to 23 km/h (14 mph) and recover up to 8 kW of energy during deceleration. It also features a belt-driven alternator starter.
Drive Select dynamic handling and adjustable air suspension are standard on the SQ8. The advanced suspension kit, an add-on extra, includes electromechanical active anti-roll bars, sport differential, and four-wheel steering.
The styling changes include redesigned rear diffusers with oval exhaust tips as standard, reworked, more aggressive bodykits, and 21-inch alloy wheels. Optional options include larger 22-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, red brake calipers, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Sport seats with leather and Alcantara upholstery, stainless steel pedals, a digital instrument cluster, and center-mounted screens that control the infotainment, heating, and air conditioning systems are all included in the cabin. Standard features include voice recognition, a Wi-Fi hotspot, support for Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
A 360-degree camera, active lane assist, traffic congestion help, and adaptive cruise control are all examples of safety technology. Of course, I’m referring to the Audi SQ7. The SQ8 has a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine with 429 bhp and 664 lb-ft of torque that virtually eliminates turbo lag thanks to an electrically powered compressor (EPC) and other magic. A tenth of a second quicker than the larger SQ7, the smaller SQ8 accelerates to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph.
A 48-volt electrical system, which powers the EPC and permits engine-off coasting at speeds up to 99 mph, also contributes to fuel savings. Additionally, it provides energy for an electromechanical roll stabilization system that uses electric motors to maintain stability in corners. It should make the SQ8 fairly maneuverable when combined with the optional four-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension (which can change the ride height by as much as 90mm). It will be challenging to top the SQ7.
Naturally, an eight-speed automatic transmission distributes power to all four wheels. Torque distribution between the rear wheels is expected to be aided by an optional sports diff. How quickly can an Audi SQ8 move?

More tellingly, the SQ8’s 568lb ft of torque, which is only 22lb ft less than that of its RS sibling and reaches its peak again slightly further down in the rev range at 2000 rpm before remaining constant until 5000 rpm, brings it even closer to its RS sibling. With the same 155 mph peak speed, the SQ8’s 0-62 mph time of 4.1 seconds is only 0.3 seconds slower than that of its RS sister.
SQ8is it a diesel?
If the Audi SQ7 is a Q7 that has been working out for a few hours each day, the SQ8 is its similarly sporty sister who has spent money on finer designer workout attire.
You won’t mistake the SQ8 for a typical family SUVeven at nightthanks to features like its enormous grille, which is broader than the SQ7’s and gives it a real basking-shark look. Its slinkier roofline and full-width brake-light bar also help.
Unfortunately, only two of the SQ8’s four enormous chrome exhaust pipes are really connected to the engines, shame on you Audi, despite the fact that many of the gaping air intakes on the car have useful functions.
Thankfully, there isn’t any letdown inside the Audi SQ8’s incredibly opulent-looking and -feeling cabin. Sadly, the only visual differences from the basic Q8 S Line are a set of more comfortable sports seats and a steering wheel with a flat bottom.
The three infotainment screens on the Audi SQ8 follow the same pattern. In comparison to conventional touchscreens, the two center displays are a little simpler to use when moving about because to the haptic feedback feature. However, the confusing on-screen heating controls and several menus are not even close to being as user-friendly as the actual buttons you get in a BMW.

This nearly 2.4-tonne SUV will reach 60 mph in less than 4.8 seconds when launch control is activated, which is quicker than some real hot hatchbacks.
Adaptive air suspension and a smooth automatic transmission round off this amazing performance to create a highly comfortable yet swift cross-country cruiser. The SQ8 won’t be left floundering if you chose to drive it through some muddy fields (or, more likely, wet roundabouts) because it comes standard with quattro all-wheel drive.
Choose a top-spec Vorsprung model if you’re more concerned with how the SQ8 handles a few hairpin turns than with whether it can keep up with a Land Rover Discovery off-road. These are equipped with an active anti-roll stabilization system and a limited-slip rear differential for improved corner-exiting traction.
Additionally, these high-end variants include four-wheel steering, which makes the SQ8 remarkably maneuverable in confined spaces and more stable at high speeds. It’s unfortunate that several other desirable driver-assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, require an additional fee, especially when you take into account that the Audi SQ8 costs over 15,000 more than a Q8 50TDI.
As a result, the regular Audi Q8 does a good job indeed if you’re seeking for a sleek SUV that’s cozy and moderately quick. However, if you really must have the fastest diesel SUV available and are willing to pay a premium for the privilege, the Audi SQ8 is a possibility.
