The tune you’re listening to probably has more to do with it. Actually, it appears that the steering wheel is where both setting sounds are coming from.
In the past, I used it to precisely center the audio in my automobile. This ought to help you understand where the Q50 Bose sound system’s center is located.
Turn off Centerpointe, then set Balance to 0. Set the Fader to at least +4.
The center seems to be somewhat above and to the right of the steering wheel when Driver Stage is on.
The center appears to be somewhat below and to the left of the steering wheel when Driver Stage is turned off.
The vocal concentration is significantly better and the stage is larger and more precise with Driver Stage on.
Driver Stage is mysterious:
– When it is turned on (yellow dot), the dashboard’s center appears to be where the sound is coming from.
Since it’s designed to focus the sound on the driver, it performs in the opposite direction from how I would have anticipated.

Yes, it’s quite odd. According to page 4 of the InTouch manual, Speed Sensitive Volume, which is defined as “Automatically adjusts the volume depending on the vehicle speed. Touch [+]/[-] to modify the sensitivity level,” should be placed between Surround Vol and Driver’s Audio Stage. The Bose Audio Pilot option may be the only one left as a holdover from earlier manuals. So be it. Thanks.
