Why do Audis have numbers on them?
Since the end of 2017, Audi has changed the way its models are badged to reflect the power output.
It basically means that the engine size is no longer visible, if you haven’t noticed this before on the back of an Audi. This “litre” badging, e.g. “2.0,” is changed to a number between 25 and 70 that denotes the power output.
This approach, which at first glance may seem complex, was put in place to make it simpler for purchasers to compare the power output of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles with traditional petrol and diesel ones.
As we’ve mentioned the number badges varies from 25 to 70, depending on the power output, with the number rising in increments of five. The smaller the number, the less power it has, meaning higher numbers have more power. For each number, there is a range of outputs, so if it’s a ’30 TFSI’ that means it can have between 108bhp and 129bhp, for example.
The fuel designation follows. Therefore, if it says TFSI, it’s a petrol engine, and if it says TDI, it’s a diesel engine. A plug-in hybrid will have the designation “TFSI e,” while an all-electric vehicle will have the designation “e-tron.”
It’s time to understand the strength behind that number. The car is identified by the number on the left, along with the corresponding power outputs.
Please be aware that the “RS,” “R,” and “S” versions do not have this branding, though you can request that it be removed at the manufacturer if you don’t like it.

The 2012 Audi A3 1.8 TFSI quattro 180 superseded the 2004 Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TFSI quattro 200 as the new version of the A3. It is a 5-door, 5-seat, front-engined, compact hatchback with all-wheel drive. The A3 Sportback 2.0 TFSI quattro 200’s turbocharged 2 Litre 16v Inline 4 petrol engine has 197 BHP and can reach 62 mph in 7.1 seconds. It can also reach a top speed of 145 mph. With a curb weight of 1545 kg, it gets an average fuel economy of 37.2 mpg and has a range of 450 miles before needing to refuel. It has a manual 6-speed transmission. Is the Audi S3 8P a quality vehicle?
The S3 isn’t a car that draws a lot of attention, but it’s dripping with excellence. The seats are outstanding, the driving position is terrific, and the quality, finish, and sense of integrity are all immensely rewarding.
It’s obvious after a few miles that the S3 is a very well-kept vehicle. Its four-cylinder turbocharged engine is just somewhat more powerful than the Mazda 3 MPS’s, but the Mazda 3 MPS’s engine sounds nicer, revs more smoothly, and boosts from lower revs. In contrast to the Mazda and Alfa Romeo Brera, the four-wheel-drive system provides complete traction with minimal effort required from the driver. However, the steering provides a clear indication of how hard the front end is being worked. Additionally, you can work very hard on it. The S3 scythes into curves without hesitation, exhibiting surprisingly good understeer resistance, grabbing a ton of grip, and maintaining composure and adjustability all the while.

Tim Netherton: “My S3, which I bought in September 2011, was a Portsmouth Audi demo vehicle with 2000 miles on the odometer, full leather, a satnav, a panoramic sunroof, Bose speakers, and the S-tronic gearbox. I drove it for just over 2.5 years and 32,000 miles, and up until the very end of that period it performed flawlessly.
The RAC identified a flat battery as the cause of a failure to start in December 2013, yet the vehicle did it again two weeks later. Portsmouth Audi replaced the battery as a goodwill gesture despite being unable to identify the root cause. Then, when slowing down from greater speeds, I started experiencing brake judder. Front discs that were found to be deformed by Audi were changed for 548. After another two weeks, the juddering returned. Free of charge, the discs were replaced once more, but I wasn’t sure everything was well when I gave the car in.
The car’s point-to-point speed and strong grip levels were positives.
When it snowed, quattro was amazing due to its top-notch construction, satnav, and radio. The disadvantage was that it had a “soulless and empty sense. The automobile often got around 26 mpg; the highest I’ve ever seen was 31 mpg. It also devoured tires, requiring four replacements at a cost of 107 each, and two Audi services at a cost of 225 each.
Which is preferable, TDI or TFSI?
A 2.0ltr Q5 S Line Plus in Mythos Black with a black pack and titanium wheels, as well as a few additional extras to make life with it a little nicer, is pretty much what we’ve decided to go with. What does a TFSI of 40 mean?
Make sure you receive the engine you desire by understanding what the labels on your Audi imply. Naturally, the majority of auto dealers will prominently designate vehicles with their fuel type, but understanding the manufacturer’s own shorthand might be useful nonetheless.
What does TFSI stand for?

The Tourist Trophy, a motorcycle racing competition held on the Isle of Man for more than a century, inspired the naming of TT models, which deviate from the naming convention’s set norms. Compact sports vehicles known as TT variants have transversely mounted turbocharged engines. The TT is offered in the aforementioned S and RS variants.
Solution:
There have been complaints that some A3 drivers who have the 2.0-liter diesel engine experience catastrophic engine failure after fewer than 60,000 kilometers. It can occur at any time and is brought on by severe wear to an oil pump sprocket. You’ll need to get a new oil pump from us to swap out the old one.
The Audi S3’s braking horsepower is?
All that grip allows you to accelerate quickly out of the other side, and you’ll notice a strong pedal response and really outstanding straight-line acceleration.
The sharp driver’s option will be the manual S3, but as you can only get one with a S tronic automatic right now, you’ll need to seek for an old one if you want a manual. The 7-speed S tronic twin-clutch auto, though, is a good fit for the car’s high-tech nature. When you’re driving hard, it shifts amazingly rapidly, but around town, it can be clunky and take a while to react.
Audi has installed a speaker in the bulkhead in addition to the sports exhaust to artificially amplify engine noise within the vehicle, with surprisingly effective results. As the revs increase, the tone becomes bassy, and if the S tronic box is specified, you may hear some fizzes and pops coming from the exhaust.
However, the steering may use some improvement. The variable ratio mechanism offers almost no feel yet is straightforward and eliminates the need for armfuls of lock.
Engines
The 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged TFSI engine that powers the S3 produces 296 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque across a wide rev range of 1,800 to 5,500 rpm.
The adoption of new, stronger internal parts and a new, lightweight alloy cylinder head are examples of technological advancements. According to Audi, the current engine specification is both more powerful and 5 kilograms lighter than the previous one.
