The Q9 will face an uphill battle from the beginning.
Although renderings like this one from Kelsonik are undoubtedly too Atlas-based, the headlight graphics and general design of Audi’s upcoming full-size three-row SUV seem to be realistic.
As for when we’ll be able to see it in person, a debut might take place at any moment between now and 2023.
Is Audi constructing a larger SUV?

Later this year, perhaps during Auto China 2022, which takes place in Beijing from April 2130, the Q6 should be made public. It will arrive soon after another special Audi model from China, the Q5 E-Tron, did in the fall.
Contrast the Q6 with the Q6 E-Tron, which will be released internationally later this year. A specialized electric car built on the VW Group’s new PPE platform, the Q6 E-Tron is a close relative of the electric Porsche Macan, which is scheduled to go on sale in 2023.

Sadly, we don’t know much about the inside or the available powertrains, but we do have some theories. There are two possibilities to think about given its size. This could come in a three-seat version from Audi. The alternative is that Audi will follow the Mercedes-Maybach GLS and Land Rover Range Rover SV in having only two rows of seats and a pitiful amount of space for the backseat occupants. There’s a fair probability that the Q9 will at the very least be offered as a hybrid or maybe a plug-in hybrid given how Audi is increasingly focusing on electrification and reducing emissions.
Regarding availability, we’ve been informed by reliable sources that a reveal could occur in 2022, indicating that it will be available for purchase as a 2023 model. It should be noted that this particular prototype is using camouflage that is typically saved for models going to China, therefore its availability in Europe or the United States has been questioned. Audi is rumored to offer it in the United States since, obviously, we enjoy huge cars, but Europe may be left out of the loop.
