This is just anecdotal and in no way a scientific test of the gearbox’s dependability, but 45k miles later, I haven’t experienced any significant issues.

It annoys me when a cold start car struggles up hills. like a novice is using the clutch! But not enough to irritate me.

I also have no proof that the s-tronic doesn’t occasionally experience the same issue at the similar mileage/conditions, though.
