Has the 2018 S5 launch control?
A 3-litre V6 engine with direct and indirect fuel injection and turbocharging, producing 354 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, is the brain of the 2021 S5. The Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, which even has a self-locking differential, distributes all of the power to all four wheels. When everything is set to Dynamic and all the driving aids are off, the S5’s powertrain can be a joy to ride in. It feels sturdy and begs for you to belt the living daylights out of it. As silky smooth as ever is the eight-speed torque-converter automatic from ZF. The upshifts are so flawless, even at full throttle, that you occasionally miss the head-buttingly vicious changes you get in the A35 AMG and the M340i. In fact, it’s a bit too smooth at times. A more aggressive tune for this eight-speed gearbox, which can be a touch hesitant to downshift at times, especially in Comfort and Efficiency settings, would have improved the driving experience, in our opinion.
