The Audi A6 allroad quattro: the big all-rounder from Audi
As it approaches its twentieth birthday, the A6 allroad quattro is entering its fourth generation. This extremely adaptable Avant version was introduced by Audi in 1999. It has enough pulling power and is comfortable both on and off the road. Even though it has improved off-road capabilities because to the standard all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension with variable ground clearance, it is just as comfortable and dynamic on the road. The A6 allroad quattro’s diverse abilities are rounded up by its striking appearance and substantial equipment.
“Town, country, riverextensive suspension features for on-road and off-road
Up to 45 millimeters (1.8 in) higher than the A6 Avant’s body is the A6 Allroad Quattro. Its off-road capabilities are highlighted by the 139 mm (5.5 in) ground clearance at standard riding height. When utilized as a towing vehicle, the A6 allroad quattro is just as potent; it can pull up to 2.5 tons.
The Audi A6 allroad quattro comes standard with an adaptive air suspension with regulated damping that was specifically calibrated for the vehicle to improve its off-road performance. Depending on the road speed and mode selected in the Audi drive choose system, it modifies the ride height. The A6 allroad quattro’s standard ride height in auto and comfort modes is 139 mm (5.5 in), although this can be actively modified using a speed-dependent management method. The body is raised 45 mm if the greatest riding height is chosen and the maximum speed is 35 km/h (21.7 mph) (1.8 in). In the event that this speed is surpassed, the body is immediately lowered. The ride height is decreased by 15 millimeters at highway speeds more than 120 km/h (74.6 mph) (0.6 in). The body of the A6 allroad quattro is 30 mm (1.2 in) higher than the conventional ride height when in offroad mode, which is capable of speeds up to 80 km/h (49.7 mph). Lift mode increases the ground clearance by 15 millimeters (0.6 in) when moving at speeds less than 35 km/h (21.7 mph), or 45 millimeters (1.8 in), above the standard setting.
The A6 allroad quattro includes additional comfort features like standard hill descent control and tilt angle assist that, together with the specially modified suspension, let it to handle off-road terrain with ease. The driver can call up a display on the MMI panel to see the current tilt angle in the longitudinal and transverse axes when driving over flat terrain. Whenever there is a chance of the car toppling over, a warning light comes on. The hill descent control selectively and individually brakes each of the four wheels as needed when driving down a steep slope in the range of 2 to 30 km/h (1.218.6 mph). Using a unique ABS brake function, the system offers an additional stopping wedge in front of the wheel when driving on loose surfaces. All pertinent dynamic handling systems up to stabilization control are adjusted for off-road driving in the Audi drive select offroad mode.
Distinctive characterstriking design and model-specific look
The off-road styling on the new A6 allroad quattro is much more striking than on the outgoing model. The new model’s strong personality is highlighted by its exterior and the distinctive, adaptable interior design choices.
The new A6 allroad quattro’s rugged charm is brought to life by special body modifications. Its front end is dominated by the low, broad Singleframe with vertical aluminum struts. The blade and the underbody shield have an aluminum-like surface that sparkles. You can choose between a black or aluminum-look finish for the allroad-specific roof rails placed on bars, the window slot trims, the underbody protection, the diffuser trim, and the band between the rear lights. Standard for the wheel arch trims is a striking scandium gray finish. They can optionally be ordered in gloss black or the body color. Allroad badges are attached to the side’s contrasting sill trim.
The aluminum exterior package and the black styling package with dark attachments and trim strips both serve to refine the appearance. Eleven colors are available for the 2017 Audi A6 allroad quattro, including the new allroad-specific hue gavial green, which was inspired by the color of the first model in 1999.
Three colors are offered for the interior: black, pearl beige, and okapi brown. Black cloth and some leather are used as the basic upholstery for the seats. In addition, the fashionable perforated Valcona leather grade and beige and brown tones are offered. There are three wood versions and one aluminum option in addition to the basic inlays in graphite gray fine paint finish.
The interior is made even more opulent by the allroad line. Sport seats with Alcantara/leather upholstery that blends the hues petrol gray and black are available as part of this option. Aluminum pedals and inlays, as well as lighted door sill trim with logo projection, are further highlights. The Allroad range offers a variety of additional interior design options as an option. unique color schemes, striking stitching and piping, ornate trimmings made of fine-grained birch wood, and a particular metal strip with soft green color highlights that complement the outside paint are all included.

high pulling power with high torque
Three different V6 TDI engines from Audi are available for the new A6 allroad quattro on European markets. All of the units have undergone significant redesigns compared to the previous model and are powered by three liters of displacement.
Three output ratings are available for the 3.0 TDI. The first can go from 0 to 100 km/h (062.1 mph) in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h thanks to its 170 kW (231 PS) and 500 Nm (368.8 lb-ft) of torque produced between 1,750 and 3,250 rpm (155.3 mph). The A6 allroad quattro 45 TDI* uses 5.95.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (39.940.6 US mpg) according to the WLTP values, which are correlated to NEDC fuel consumption figures of 156-152 grams of CO2 per kilogram (251.1244.6 g/mi)**. 210 kW (286 PS) and 620 Nm (457.3 lb-ft) of torque are produced by the engine in the A6 allroad quattro 50 TDI* between 2,250 and 3,000 rpm. The figures are as follows: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 5.9 seconds; top speed limited to 250 km/h (155.3 mph); fuel consumption of 5.95.8 liters per 100 km (39.940.6 g/mi); and CO2 emissions of 156152 grams per kilometer (251.1244.6 g/mi)**. The 3.0 TDI, which has 257 kW (349 hp) of power and 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of torque between 2,500 and 3,100 rpm, is the top-of-the-line engine in the new A6 allroad. The A6 allroad quattro 55 TDI* has a 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) acceleration time of 5.2 seconds and a fuel consumption of 6.66.4 liters per 100 kilometers (35.636.8 g/mi)** (172168 g/km (276.8270.4 g/mi)**.
An eight-speed tiptronic is used to distribute the power from the three TDI engines. The quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, which is also included as standard equipment, is the perfect companion to the wheel-selective torque control. It mildly brakes the two wheels with less load on the inside of a turn when traveling at a high speed before they start to spin. As a result, the drive torque is switched to the wheels with superior traction. The sport differential may distribute power between the back wheels in an infinitely variable manner. The greatest improvement in traction and dynamic handling is provided by this active torque vectoring.
Audi’s mild hybrid technology (MHEV, or mild hybrid electric vehicle), which makes driving even more convenient and can cut fuel consumption in actual driving situations by up to 0.4 liters per 100 kilometers, is standard on the three TDI units. A brand-new 48-volt primary electrical system serves as its foundation.
As the primary MHEV component, the belt alternator starter recovers up to 8 kW of power during braking and transfers it to a separate lithium-ion battery with a 10 Ah capacity. With the engine off, the new Audi A6 allroad quattro can cruise over a wide range of speeds; start-stop mode engages at 22 km/h (13.7 mph).
The A6 Allroad Quattro’s suspension combines a sporty personality with exceptional comfort and improved off-road capability. It offers additional highlights in addition to the adaptive air suspension with regulated damping. With a greater steering angle, the conventional progressive steering becomes more direct. Its control strategy delivers transparent feedback from the road while preventing uncomfortable jolts from the steering wheel. Dynamic all-wheel steering, an option, combines stability and agility. The rear wheels can move up to five degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels at speeds up to 60 km/h (37.3 mph), which reduces the turning circle and increases the spontaneity of the steering response. In order to improve stability when driving straight ahead or changing lanes, the front and rear wheels can turn up to two degrees in the same direction when moving at greater speeds.
The electronic chassis platform (ECP) controls the dynamic all-wheel steering and the optional sport differential in addition to the shock absorbers and bellows. The driver can select from six modes in the Audi drive select system to alter how the regulated components and functions operate (dynamic, automatic, comfort, efficiency, allroad and lift). 18-inch wheels with 225/55 size tires are included as standard equipment on the Audi A6 allroad quattro. The largest optional wheels in the Audi Sport lineup have a diameter of 21 inches.
Audi offers sport seats in addition to the conventional seats, which are also available with seat heating and ventilation. The best equipment is available in the form of electrically adjustable, custom contour seats that might also include a massaging feature. Additional comfort-enhancing equipment is available: The air quality kit comes with an ionizer and provides delicate smells to the room. The automobile is filled with natural light and air thanks to the expansive glass sunroof. The contour ambient lighting package fills the space with a unique look in the dark.
The new Audi A6 allroad quattro measures 1.90 meters (6.2 feet) in width, 1.50 meters (4.9 feet) in height, and 4.95 meters (16.2 feet) in length. The substantial amount of space, including the wide elbow room in the front and rear and the roomy knee room in the back, is made possible by the wheelbase of 2.93 meters (9.6 ft). With the rear seats folded down, it has a luggage capacity that ranges from 565 liters (20.0 cu ft) to 1,680 liters (59.3 cu ft), just like the A6 Avant. The normal split-folding for the back seats is 40:20:40. The electronic tailgate and the automatically opening baggage compartment cover are further standard features. The typical specification also includes two bag hooks, a net, a tensioning strap, and a rail system. The load-securing kit with telescopic bar and strap, which is an option, enables the luggage area to be partitioned into separate compartments. There is an electric release feature on the trailer hitch. Due to the rigid body consisting of an aluminum hybrid construction and the advanced aeroacoustics, the cabin is silent.
Digital nativeinfotainment, connectivity and driver assistance
The wide infotainment selection featured in the A6 allroad quattro’s A6 and A7 sister models is also available in this variant. The infotainment system is operated by an all-digital operating system with a top large screen measuring 10.1 inches in the top-of-the-line version. The driver controls the climate control, comfort features, and text input on the 8.6-inch display below. The natural-language voice control processes all input using both the onboard data and cloud-based knowledge. The 12.3-inch display of the 2017 A6 allroad quattro’s optional Audi virtual cockpit is operated by the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel. The MMI navigation system with an optional top-of-the-line infotainment control center that includes an LTE module and a Wi-Fi hotspot completes the package. The navigation system picks up information from prior trips and can provide the driver relevant route options. Onboard as well as on the servers of service provider HERE, the route is determined online. As an additional option, Audi offers a head-up display.
The two bundles of Audi Connect online services are navigation and infotainment and emergency call and service. The Audi connect key allows the driver to start the engine and unlock/lock the vehicle using an Android smartphone via near field communication. The myAudi software easily connects the user’s smartphone with the MMI (NFC). Additionally providing 3D sound to the back is the optional Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System, which features 19 loudspeakers and a subwoofer. Around 400 functions can be stored by up to seven drivers in up to seven different profiles. The new Audi A6 allroad quattro offers even more comfort and safety thanks to its driver assistance technologies. They come in two different packages: Efficiency assistance, adaptive cruise assistance, and emergency assistance are all included in the Tour assistance package. The junction assist and exit warning are included in the City package. The data source for all of these systems is the central driver assistance controller (zFAS), which continuously computes a model of the vehicle environment.
