It is a rather easy operation to open the hood on an Audi A4. To release the first latch, all you have to do is grip the handle in the driver’s footwell. You can move around to the front of the automobile and feel under the hood once that has been released. You can lift the hood using the additional lever that will be in the center of it. With the struts that are on it, once the hood is up, it ought to stay up on its own. You can use something like vise grips to hold your hood struts open and keep them from closing if they are failing.
Pulling the lever by the footwell on the left side of the driver’s side of an Audi A4 will allow you to raise the hood. Pull the lever one more after releasing it, and the hood will be slightly open. Once the little hitch is fully open, you may reach into the hood and pull it open.
How is the bonnet opened?
The proper way to open and close a bonnet requires skill. And you’ll have learned it by the time this brief video is over.
In order to check things like washer fluid and oil, you’ll need to open your bonnet. This is how to do it correctly:
- First, check sure the ignitions are off and the handbrakes are engaged.
- Give your engine a good ten minutes to cool.
- Pull the lever by reaching under the dash.
- The bonnet will suddenly erupt.
- Feel the release catch when you lightly lift the bonnet, then slide it to the left.
- Fully raise the bonnet, then securely support it.
- ADVICE: Avoid opening your bonnet in strong winds.
- It’s time to lower the bonnet.
- With one hand, support it while using the other to release the strut.
- Drop the bonnet to lock it, then lower it to roughly 30 cm from the body.
- TOP TIP: To avoid denting your beautiful car, don’t force the bonnet down to lock it.

Battery location in an Audi A4?
