Petrol engines
Audi used to sell the A5 with a 265bhp 3.2-liter V6 petrol engine, but the 2.0 TFSI engine with Quattro all-wheel drive is now the top-spec engine. It provides a 0-60 mph time of 6.4 seconds and performs well in the A5.
The base 1.8-liter TFSI engine, which produces 176 horsepower and 141 g/km of CO2, offers 46.3 mpg of fuel economy.
Diesel engines
With no fewer than four engines available for the Audi A5 Sportback, the diesel market is well served in this area.
The 2-litre Ultra has 135bhp and company car driver-pleasing CO2 emissions of 109g/km, making it the least powerful but most efficient vehicle. Additionally, you can anticipate 67.3 mpg from this engine.

Although it will cost more to buy and operate than the 201bhp 2.0-litre diesel, our experience has shown that it is smoother and faster. However, if fuel economy is your first goal, the diesels just make more financial sense. Performance-wise, there isn’t much to differentiate the two vehicles; the 40 TFSI can accelerate to 62 mph in 7.2 seconds, while the 40 TDI can do it in 7 dead-on seconds.
The 45 TFSI employs the same turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine as the normal A5 Sportback, but with a higher power output of 261 bhp. With a 0-62mph time of just 5.6 seconds, it is the quickest of the regular variants.
The 3.0-liter diesel engine in the S5 Sportback delivers 336 horsepower, making it highly strong, quick, and still quite efficient. Although it’s not very thrilling for a sporty vehicle, it’s an excellent engine for long travels thanks to its smooth performance.
The quick S5 Sportback and variants with the 40 TDI diesel and 45 TFSI gasoline engines all come standard with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive technology. Although the added grip it provides is comforting, choosing a quattro model is more expensive, tends to hurt economy, and raises emissions.
Is the Audi A5 athletic?
