Instead, we primarily just used the extra audio controls on the steering wheel.
A set of paddle shifters that are also located on the steering wheel make this nimble, agile car even more entertaining by allowing you to move through the seven speeds of the S-Tronic transmission in manual mode without taking your hands off the wheel.
Instead of rotary dials or, God forbid, touch sensitive sliders, the A3’s climate settings have hard buttons and a small digital display. If you look closely, you can see a very tiny fit issue. We didn’t notice the fact that the metal ridges on the bottom of the buttons aren’t exactly aligned while we were driving the car; we only discovered it after we took pictures of it. We considered bringing it up, but we’ll still let this one slide.
Along with the modest center console bin and cupholders, which may or may not be utilized to keep drinks depending on how many drinks you often bring or the size of your water bottles, there is a cubby below the center stack that houses a wireless phone charger and two USB-C connections. Although having a conventional USB port accessible somewhere would be nice for the several charging cords we still have lying about, as more of our devices adopt this port standard, we are happy to utilize them and not have to worry if we’re trying to plug it in upside-down.
When we take a closer look at that door panel, we can see some of the intriguing sculptural design that Audi enjoys including in its vehicles. Nevertheless, there is a lot of hard plastic there, and it is unpleasant to the touch. Recent Audis have a tendency to have lower-quality materials than the models they replaced, including the Q5, Q3, and A4. The A3 is same. Fortunately, we don’t spend a lot of time touching things like dashboards and door trim. The $3,300 Premium Plus Package, which also includes the wireless phone charger, the driver’s seat memory, the alarm system, the auto-dimming and folding mirrors, and some driver assistance, safety, and convenience technology, is also included with the leatherette-covered door armrests on this A3.
Although adaptive cruise control is included in the Premium Plus package, its steering-wheel-mounted control stalk is nonetheless dated and unattractive. For the purpose of simplicity of usage, we’d like to have this feature incorporated to the steering wheel controls.
Given that Audi is a luxury brand, the leather interior feels right at home, and Santos brown provides a wonderful, warm contrast to the other areas’ black plastic and metal. Additionally attractive are the subtle stitching and suede accents. The buttons on the outboard side of the seats make adjusting the comfy seats simple. Additionally, the lumbar support may be adjusted.
Although there is a fair amount of dull black plastic, other materials, such as the stitching across the dash and the “Platinum gray” inlays, are used to easily break up the black plastic in this small automobile. As a result of the A3’s makeover in 2022, the back seats are unexpectedly spacious. Rear-facing child seats are uncomfortable to sit directly in front of, but a youngster in a front-facing high-back booster seat has plenty of legroom. The lower LATCH anchors, which are related to car seats, are simple to locate and employ.
