The Audi Q8 is larger than the Q7, right?
Size and cargo space of the 2021 Audi Q8. The dimensions of the 2021 Q7 are 199 inches long, 69 inches high, and 78 inches wide, while those of the 2021 Q8 are 197 inches long, 67 inches high, and 79 inches wide.
Audi Q8: Full-size SUV or not?
The 2022 Audi Q8 is the brand’s flagship SUV and represents the pinnacle of elegance and performance. It’s a 5-seater midsize SUV with a roofline that slopes downward, giving it a coupe-like appearance, and it has the power to match its athletic looks.
How big is the Audi Q8?
The Audi Q8 is a sizable, opulent SUV crossover that is almost exclusively intended for on-road use. It is designed to entice customers who might otherwise consider purchasing other’sporty’ lifestyle SUVs for sale, including the BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe. Although the Q8 is certainly intended largely at the “coupe-style” 4x4s from BMW and Mercedes, customers of the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport might also give it a look.
The Audi Q8 is it a small SUV?
Although the Audi Q8 has a more streamlined appearance than the Q7, it still has a fairly roomy interior and a large trunk. Unfortunately, there are only six tickets available.
The more compact Q8 is a vast luxury villa, in contrast to the taller Q7’s wide two-story independent home.
Although the interior isn’t quite as roomy, you wouldn’t really call it pokey.
Passenger space
There is a ton of interior space because the Audi Q8 is a large vehicle. Electric lumbar adjustment is standard on the front seats, and there is plenty of electrical adjustability to assist you achieve your optimal position and prevent lower-back pain on lengthy trips. If you lease your car to someone else, you won’t have to worry about losing your preferred seat position because the driver’s seat has a convenient memory feature with storage for six different settings.
Super Sports seats, which come with softer leather trim and larger bolsters to keep you in place even more firmly in tight bends, are standard in Vorsprung models and optional in S-Line. But the extra money isn’t really worth it for them. Regardless of the seat you choose, you can position the side bolsters and swab using the central touchscreen, but you can only change the other settings using the physical controls beside the doors.
Additionally, Vorsprung vehicles include sliding rear seats that allow you to prioritize the trunk or rear passenger room depending on whether you’re hauling a few tall people or some large luggage.
However, even without this option, the Audi Q8’s back seat has plenty of room for tall adults to spread out. The Audi Q8 is undoubtedly better than the BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe for accommodating tall passengers, although headroom isn’t quite as generous as in the boxy Q7, especially in Vorsprung models with their standard panoramic glass roof.
It is entirely feasible to fit three adults in the rear, but the middle passenger will have to split foot space with the outer two, whose heads will be just above the ceiling. Sadly, the rear windows only fully retract halfway.
The relatively tall roof and the wide-opening rear doors make it simple to install a kid seat in the Audi Q8. You won’t have any trouble securing the seat base safely thanks to the clearly labelled but easily misplaced Isofix anchor points, and you’ll only have to lean down to buckle a child in if you’re particularly tall.
Storage space
A 1.5-liter bottle may fit in each of the Audi Q8’s door bins, and there is enough in the glove box for two additional slightly smaller bottles. There is a designated phone tray in the center console that has wireless charging capabilities, but there is hardly room for anything else.
Although not especially broad, the two cupholders in the front are more than large enough to carry a cup of coffee and deep enough to assist prevent spills. However, it can be a little challenging to get a cup out without unintentionally removing its lid due to the huge folding cover. There are two door bins in the back that can each accommodate a 1.5-liter bottle, and the foldable rear armrest has two additional cupholders.
Boot space
With the back seats in place, the Audi Q8’s 605 liters of bootspace situate it directly between the 650 liter GLE Coupe and the X6’s 580 liters. That is big enough to accommodate multiple extremely large luggage or two sets of golf equipment. Due to their standard sliding rear seats that allow you to sacrifice some rear legroom for additional trunk capacity, Vorsprung vehicles are even more practical. Additionally, they include a convenient three-way (40:20:40) split that allows you to simultaneously transport two individuals and some very lengthy objects.
If you need to transport even more goods, you can fold down all the seats to create a 1,755-liter load space, which is more than the Mercedes offers and substantially larger than the BMW. It has enough space to fit two bikes with their wheels on, although sliding large, heavy objects right up behind the front seats can be a little challenging due to a little rise in the floor.
The back seats cannot be folded down remotely from the boot; instead, you must pull separate handles on either side of the back doors to make them flip down.
In Vorsprung models, sliding the back seats forward before folding them down also leaves a fairly noticeable gap in the boot floor. If you’re carrying bulky objects, it’s not a big deal, but a tiny soft bag can easily tumble down between the seats.

What is it?
If you try to fit as many adjectives into an official description, you’ll get a sense of how highly Audi values its Q-brand apex model. It’s not an easy vehicle to understand or operate, but Audi hasn’t cut corners, so there are a lot of things going on that need to be explained.
The A8 saloon’s smooth, hefty, and mega-mouthed design language is most blatantly imitated by this vehicle, which also looks costly, is crammed with many types of technology. The fact that it has four doors and five seats and has “coupe style” only means that the back slopes more than a Q7, even though the frameless doors are incredibly stylish and distinctive in the segment.
There are some protruding wheel arches, large arches, amazing feature lines, and quirky LED lighting. It is not monotonous. Based on a completely irrational straw poll after a few days of exposure, the odds of it being to our taste are currently split 50/50.
All Q8s come standard with quattro AWD (with a locking center differential), air suspension, and a sleek eight-speed automatic transmission. In the UK, there are two trim levels available: S-Line and Vorsprung, both of which have a ton of optional equipment. Three engines will be offered: the 50 TDI (286 horsepower, 3.0 diesel), the 45 TDI (231 horsepower), and the 55 TSI V6 (340 horsepower), which will be introduced in 2019.
With a starting price of 65,040 for the S line and 83,040 for the Vorsprungthe latter of which is essentially bingo on the ticking of the options boxesneither it’s cheap nor particularly steeply priced for the segment, but it still represents good value if you want all the bells and whistles at once. Depending on the specifications, the Mercedes GLE Coupe 350d and the BMW X6 30d fall into the same general category.
On this specific model, the electronics permeates everything, as you might anticipate from an Audi with a “8” in its emblem. Dynamic all-wheel steer, a creative material combination, and a lot of forward-thinking ideas are there (standard on Vorsprung; optional on S-Line).
All vehicles come equipped with 48-volt mild hybrid technology, which essentially consists of a small lithium-ion battery in the trunk feeding a water-cooled steroidal starter motor up front. This technology enables engine coasting off-throttle, improved and longer (and smoother) stop/start functionality, and decreased turbo lag. Considering the size of the beast, you end up with quite respectable mpg and CO2 stats (41.5mpg combined, 178g/km).
All Q8s come equipped with leather, climate control, electrical assistance, and Audi’s incredibly attractive multi-screen Virtual Cockpit. HD Matrix LED lighting is animated and intriguing. Depending on the specification, 39 driver aid systems are offered. There will be plenty of buttons for you to press.
