Does Audi Q5 Fit 3 Car Seats

The Q5 debuted for the first time in 2009.

There is seat belt overlap between 2D and 2C, but because the buckles on all three seats are elevated and flexible, there is a higher likelihood that a car seat will be in 2C while an adult or other car seat will be buckled in 2D.

The head restraints for 2D and 2P were slightly different from 2009 to 2010.

They resemble the one in 2C that protrudes and hangs over the back of the seat.

The challenging element of 3-across in this car is 2D/2C because those are the narrowest seats. You can install an IMMI Go or a rear-facing-only seat like a Chicco Fit2 or a Cybex Aton2 in 2D with a forward-facing Diono Radian RXT in 2C (installed with a seat belt and tether). You can install an IMMI Go in 2D with a rear-facing-only seat in 2C (such as the Chicco Fit2 or Cybex Aton2) when the seat belt is fastened (installed with LATCH). If 2C has a forward-facing car seat, it is advisable to continue with a small seat in 2P like a Clek Foonf. However, if 2C has a rear-facing car seat, 2P can accommodate a slightly wider car seatlike a Britax Frontier (to keep an older, larger child secured) (rear-facing or forward-facing will work). Remove the head restraint in 2C before installing a forward-facing car seat.

Can three car seats fit in an Audi?

The Kia Niro EV, which costs between $40,000 and $66,000, is an excellent electric SUV for families. I could fit between two child seats and three kid seats fit very comfortably in the back seats. The two outside seats have ISOFix points, and all three seatbacks have top tether anchorages. The Kia e-Niro also has excellent legroom, and we were able to fit a 186-cm driver in front of the child seat in the back or a 186-cm adult passenger behind the same tall driver. The Kia Niro’s top three family-friendly features are listed here.

Is having three car seats in a row safe?

Count the number of head restraints in the car when you’re sat in the third row. It could come as a surprise to you to learn that there aren’t enough of them to accommodate all of the adults, teenagers, and backless booster riders who will be riding in your vehicle. An adult, teen, or booster seat rider cannot securely ride in the third row if there is no head restraint, even though there may be three vehicle seat belts in that row that may or may not fit properly. There may be one fewer safe seating position than you anticipated if there are fewer head restraints than seat belts.

Has the Audi Q5 got three Isofix?

The Audi Q5 has a lot of Isofix child seat mounting points despite having two less seats than the Mercedes GLB stated above. Two of the three points are located on the outer chairs in the rear row, and because of the spacious interior and wide door openings of the automobile, you should have little trouble fitting them in.

The Isofix mounting points in the back cannot accommodate another child seat because the Audi Q5 only has one row of rear seats. You can, however, attach one to the Isofix points on the front passenger seat if you absolutely must use three child seats at once.

Can an SUV accommodate three car seats?

You’ll want the seats to be simple to install, lock, and remove if you have more than one car seat in the back. The versatility to handle large car seats is abundant in vehicles like cars and SUVs that can accommodate three car seats in a row. Additionally, if the children are all sat in one row, you might have a better line of sight.

Can a car accommodate three car seats?

With car seats, the type of vehicle matters. It will be simple to install car seats in spacious vehicles, but it will be more difficult to put three child seats across the back seat in smaller vehicles. Vehicles with captain’s chairs and a third row seat are the best for putting more than two car seats.

Minivans, full-size and midsize SUVs, and full-size cars are the best vehicle types for families with three car seats in the backseat.

The following types of vehicles have limited space for three car seats: pickup trucks, CRVs, compact SUVs, and midsize sedans.

Three car seats won’t fit in the following vehicles: Subcompacts, four-passenger automobiles, sports or performance cars, and vehicles with two doors.

Your back seat’s design is a crucial additional factor. Some cars have flat bench seats in the rear instead of curved ones, which can provide a better fit for three car seats. Your car’s rear hip and leg room will decide how much space you have to work with. To find exact measurements for your car, locate it in the table below.

Safety Restraint System

Another element to consider when using 3 across seats in your car is the sort of safety restraint system. Your car will have a LATCH system, which stands for lower anchors and tethers for children, in addition to a shoulder and lap seat belt system.

Your child will be securely buckled in a car seat in the event of an accident thanks to the cooperation of the restraint system(s) in your automobile.

A LATCH system in all three locations in the back seat is the greatest choice for promoting the ideal fit and flexibility for three crosswise car seats (both sides and the center). In some vehicles, the middle seats’ anchors are absent.

There are three things that matter:

  • The LATCH system in your car’s spacing: Installing three child safety seats may be challenging, if not impossible, if the bottom anchor overlaps or has small gaps.
  • You cannot install three seats using the LATCH system if your car lacks lower anchors for the center rear seat.
  • You cannot install car seats three across in a back seat that can only fit two people since there are not enough seat belts to secure all three.

Take Measurements and Compare

To find the finest three across fit for your vehicle, you will need to put some work into measuring the rear seat of your car and comparing it to the width measurements of the various brands and models of child restraint seats. The following list of key vehicle dimensions is presented.

As you measure, bear in mind:

  • Include the measurement’s reference point and design of the car seat. For instance, some manufacturers of car seats would only list the width of the base and not the width of the seat’s widest components, such as the wide handles or the shoulder and head supports.
  • You should allow enough space between the width measurements of the car seats so that you can fasten your kids in.
  • To begin measuring, look up the rear seat side air bag clearance in your owner’s manual.
  • The breadth of the vehicle seat, including the back and side panels, should be measured.
  • To acquire the measurement you need, try a variety of narrow seats or a mix of different manufacturers.

Vehicle Advice: If you want to use all three car seats simultaneously in more than one vehicle, you should take measurements and make sure they fit in each one.

Can an Evoque accommodate three car seats?

We use a Britax Marathon convertible seat, a Graco TurboBooster seat, and a Graco SnugRide Classic Connect 30 infant safety seat for the Car Seat Check. A 6-foot driver and a shorter passenger can both fit comfortably in the front seats. The second row is equipped with the three child seats. The infant and convertible seats are installed behind the front passenger seat, while the booster seat is installed behind the driver’s seat.

In order to determine whether three car seats will fit in the vehicle, we also place the forward-facing convertible in the middle seat of the second row and the booster and infant seat in the outside seats. A child in the booster seat must be able to reach the seat belt buckle. We install the booster seat and a forward-facing convertible if there is a third row. Find out more about the car seat checks we perform.

Additionally, parents need to be aware that the Latch system and seat belts can both be used to install a car seat, and that the combined weight of the kid and the seat itself cannot exceed 65 pounds when using a Latch anchor.

BabyDrive Verdict

It’s difficult to criticize the Tiguan as a family vehicle! The storage in the cab is excellent, and the four space-saving glass cases in the ceiling ensure that you’ll never have trouble finding a place for your glasses.

The spacious inside carried over to the boot, which I discovered to have plenty of room for a mid-size SUV. while empty, it has a capacity of 12 shopping bags. Legroom is superb in the Tiguan for both tall and short passengers, and the back seats slide to adapt so you can move extra space from the cab to the boot when needed or vice versa.

Both of the outer rear seats contain ISO Fix within plastic guides that facilitate seat installation. All three of the backs of the rear seats have top tether points that are conveniently accessible through the trunk.

The back seats are flat and basic, allowing for the installation of three child seats, although the base of the seat was barely wide enough for the models we used. If you plan to install three child seats, you should absolutely confirm that they will fit across the Tiguan during your test drive.

The ISO Fix and top tethers would make it quite comfortable to install two kid seats in the outer seats, and I could sit in-between them. I installed the three child seats using the seatbelts and top tethers. (I’m 162cm).

The Tiguan’s media system is also excellent; it features an enormous, crystal-clear touch screen that is simple to use and navigate, as well as Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The built-in sat nav, which features changeable announcements, is equally good. Additionally, the front and back sensors may both be adjusted via the touchscreen, making the reversing camera incredibly clear.

I should also give Volkswagen high points for their cruise control while I’m being complimentary. The Tiguan is actually enjoyable to operate and drive with the assurance that the cruise control will actually maintain the set pace.

It is difficult to criticize the Tiguan because it truly checks all the right boxes, but the one major drawback that you notice on every trip is the horribly uncomfortable front seats! Who authorized the seat alterations is unknown to me. It appears as though they simply continued adding adjusters until they decided that 7 manual adjusting switches, levers, and knobs was as good as they could make the seats.

BabyDrive Indepth – Storage

In the Tiguan, storage is plentiful. The front of the central console has two cup holders, and because they are adjustable, they may carry a big, refilled water bottle as well as a single-use or reusable coffee cup. Additionally, the two holders retract, converting the space to a storage box.

Nothing you put inside the door pockets will rattle because they are all lined with thick carpeting. However, it will be considerably more difficult to remove or clean them if you spill anything in them. I could fit a huge refillable water bottle, an iPad, and my wallet in the front because they are such a nice, roomy size.

That small amount of storage is not present because none of the door handles have wells, but VW makes up for it by providing a ton of additional storage spaces!

Simple and functional, the central console storage box has a top that can be extended to serve as an armrest. There are no plugs inside the console box; instead, the USB, HDMI, and a 12V socket are located above a rubber-lined well in front of the gear lever. The fact that I could use Apple CarPlay and plug my phone into a USB port to charge made this the ideal location for it, in my opinion.

The handbook and my wallet were stored in the Tiguan’s modest glove box. The iPad did not fit inside. Since the glove box has a cooling dial, you might use it as an Esky for food, picnics, and other activities.

When we were headed to the beach and I wanted to have my hands free, I found the storage drawer beneath the front passenger seat to be a good size for my phone and wallet. It was an excellent location for storing items out of sight.

Another small storage box with a black felt interior is located on the dashboard, however whatever you place inside will be baked by the Australian sun!

Two of the biggest eyeglass cases I’ve ever seen are in the Tiguan’s ceiling! Although it may at first sound ridiculous, I believe it is an excellent concept! I generally have my other pair on, and I prefer to put an inexpensive pair in the car that are for wearing in the ocean in addition to the pair I usually have with me. It’s fantastic to be able to store them all away rather than having them scattered about the car because my husband alternates between wearing his sunglasses and regular glasses, and our kid has her own small pair of sunglasses. Back seat passengers can also access the rear of the cases, allowing older children to store their own glasses.

On the back of each front seat are 1/3-size map pockets that are solid so that you cannot see what is stowed inside, which is helpful. I found that the pockets were deep enough to contain my iPad but not completely conceal it.

Additionally, the central seat back has a fold-down armrest with three cup holders of various sizes. For a large refillable water bottle and a single-serve or reusable coffee cup, use two of them.

Back door dumpsters are likewise generously sized and carpeted. They could handle a 600ml bottle and a large refillable water bottle simultaneously, or a bottle and a wallet, but an iPad wouldn’t fit quite right.

A plastic trough that is the ideal size to accommodate an iPad or book is located at either end of the base of the back seat. I really discovered that I utilized them for my wallet and keys.

When I take Tulsi to the car, I frequently have my wallet, phone, and keys in hand, and we head right to her door. I usually scatter everything I’m holding around her seat as I buckle Tulsi up, but I discovered that this was the ideal area for my wallet and keys to rest while I finished. Once I was done, I could pick them up and go to the driver’s door.

For a mid-sized SUV, the storage space in the trunk was impressive as well. It is possible to have less legroom in the cab and greater storage capacity in the boot, or vice versa, thanks to the rear seats’ 60/40 sliding motion. With the seats in this configuration, which leaves the least amount of space in the boot, I evaluated the boot’s capacity.

I can fit 12 grocery bags in the boot when it’s empty and the back seats are all the way back.

When the boot is at its shortest capacity, the Mountain Buggy Duet twin stroller only fits widthways. Alongside it, you may fit two shopping bags.

I can fit four shopping bags around the Britax tandem Flexx stroller when it is in the boot. Due to the tandem’s greater wheelbase, it must fit widthways in the boot. We could fit it lengthways if we moved the back seats forward.

With five shopping bags surrounding it, the Britax single Flexx stroller will fit comfortably in the boot either lengthwise or widthwise.

The Britax Holiday basic stroller is so compact that it may easily fit in the footwell next to a child seat that is rear-facing, giving you the most boot room possible. It has to lay down in the boot because it won’t stand up straight, but I can fit 9 shopping bags around it.

We’ve previously traveled with our family in a Tiguan and moved one of the back seats forward to create additional room in the trunk. This worked great and provided us with enough of boot storage.

The boot space’s functionality and importance cannot be overstated. I prefer vehicles with large boot spaces and small side wells or other compartments that can be divided into. Therefore, items like Tulsi’s lunch bag or her wet swimming gear that I don’t want to move while driving may be compartmentalized in a small space so they won’t spill or get squished by other items in the boot.

The ability to fasten the bag containing more delicate items, such as eggs, so they don’t move about on the trip, makes hooks for hanging shopping bags one of my other favorite types of hooks.

I gauge the boot room for dogs, strollers, and frozen shopping bags. I don’t believe that a mother’s existence is limited to grocery shopping, pushing a stroller, and caring for dogs. (Even though at times it seems like it!) However, since these are things that can be measured visually, we can all relate to them. For me, the 400L boot measurement from the car manufacturer is not a quantity I can easily see, and depending on how the space is organized or shaped, 400L in one car may not be as usable as it is in another.

In addition to levers on both sides of the boot for manually advancing each of the rear seatbacks, the right side of the boot has an automatic light that turns on (split 40:20:40). I could secure items to the fold-down bag hooks on either side of the boot that I didn’t want to move around the boot, like a bag of eggs. On the right, there is also a 12V socket.

The boot has a level, carpeted floor and is a good-sized, open room that can be used for changing diapers in an emergency. For anything I wish to keep separate from the rest of the contents of the boot, such shoes, sunblock, etc., there are good-sized wells on either side in front of the wheel arches. However, because these areas are carpeted, they are not waterproof.

BabyDrive Indepth – Noise

The front and rear sensors on the Tiguan do make a very loud, baby-waking beeping noise to warn you of risks, but happily you can turn it off by pressing a button on the screen!

A birds-eye perspective of the scene is another option, which I found to be helpful for parking. You must press mute every time because the settings are not remembered.

After becoming a father, I quickly realized that there are some noises and sounds I could live without if it meant that my child would stay asleep.

That frequently my crying, upset infant is a bigger distraction when driving than, say, not having a lane departure warning.

Which is the safest option if my kid is distressed by the lane departure warning beeping?

It’s at this point that I believe we need to be able to strike a balance and decide when we may turn off the alerts or switch to something else, like a vibration in the steering wheel or possibly a flashing light?

Many of these noises are a result of the development of technology, particularly those associated with alerts and safety measures. These all have their place in my opinion.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that I spend a lot more time in locations where young children congregate, such as parks, beaches, play areas, swimming lessons, childcare facilities, etc. I’m more conscious now that I need to triple check for little children when I’m reversing or maneuvering in the parking lots since they may be running about behind me or in my blind area. I adore reverse cameras for this, but I detest their beeping noises!

I enjoy the peace of mind I get from the cameras and sensors paired with my personal view from windows and mirrors because I don’t trust cameras alone. Since having a child, I have been much more alert of safety and potential mishaps or hazards.

The Tiguan’s indicator volume When I drove my kid to sleep, I didn’t have to avoid intersections since I don’t believe it is loud enough to wake up a sleeping child.

You have complete control over the sat nav voice volume! When you move your hand toward the media screen’s bottom, a row of menu buttons appears, and the announcements button displays a sliding volume scale or allows you to mute and unmute the voice with only a touch. I often find that I only require the sat nav for the final five minutes of a trip, so this excellent and simple option lets you stop the sound for as long as you don’t need it.

The Tiguan includes Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, which made it really easy and convenient to connect my phone to it.

The media system will automatically start playing whatever my husband was listening to when I get into the car after he has left, which is annoying if I was hoping for some peace and quiet for my daughter to fall asleep.

The Tiguan’s doors closed with such a thunderous crash! If you try to pull off with the driver’s door open, a REALLY loud beeping alert will sound, which will keep their infant awake. I believe it is a tad excessive and would undoubtedly disturb someone who was sleeping.

The window mechanisms don’t make a lot of noise; they clunk shut when they close, but not as loud as the doors do.

The driver’s door control panel has buttons that can be used to lock the doors and windows.

The Tiguan’s automatic engine cutout, which I found a little unnerving on a few times in traffic jams that were still moving very slowly, caused the steering to appear to lock up. It felt so strange, like if the car had completely stopped. I wanted to be in control of the steering wheel because the automobile was moving and in a busy area. For young passengers, the vibrations of driving are frequently what helps them fall asleep, so this can be rather upsetting. A button next to the gear lever can be used to activate the automatic engine cutout.

Although I occasionally heard the Tiguan laboring to change gears, the noise it makes from the road and the engine is fine for little passengers.

The Tiguan’s seatbelt removal alarm is very audible. It will undoubtedly notify you if any passenger takes off their belt!

No alarm will sound if you stop the Tiguan, put it in park, unbuckle your seatbelt, and open the door. When you open the door and forget to put the car in park, a very loud alarm will sound, waking up your sleeping child.
