Is the Audi virtual cockpit updateable?
My virtual cockpit on a 2017 A4 B9 has successfully been updated from version 0309 to 0379 today. However, if you have Virtual Cockpit hardware version H17, the hardware is equivalent to the 2018s and it will accept the update. Officially, 0379 is not supported by 2017 vehicles (only 2018+).

The 8.3-inch, high-resolution color display, touch-sensitive control panel with handwriting recognition, and ability to pan and zoom on the 3D map are all included in the Multi Media Interface (MMI).
The speedometer and rev counter are prominently displayed on the screen in Classic View. However, you may tailor the Virtual Cockpit to your requirements, so if you like, you can prominently display the map in the center with the dials in the background.
Additionally, the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit may display music information, tyre pressures, driver assistance menus, and fuel level. Basically, that means that you can use it to pull up everything from radio stations to routes on the map, much like an infotainment system.
Is it therefore worth the money? It will depend on how tight your budget is, like with most things. If you have CarPlay or Android Auto, which is standard on the Sport trim, you can access Apple or Google Maps, music, etc. for free. Though not, hunt for a used car that already has it, or just use your phone for navigation, even if it looks less stylish, like we would.
Audi also offers a retroactive activation of the Light Function Package for a single $249.00 price for the duration of the vehicle, allowing E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback buyers to partake in the fun to a certain extent. On myAudi, how can I enable Apple CarPlay?
