Price, Review, Ratings, and Images of the Nissan Altima
The 2022 Nissan Altima is a sleek-appearing family sedan that has garnered popularity for its plush interiors, smooth ride, and fuel-efficient powertrains. Although the official release date and price of the 2022 Altima have not yet been disclosed, we anticipate by the fall of 2021. This year, it won’t get any cosmetic updates. There are two available engines: a 248-hp 2.0L turbo-4 and a 188-hp 2.5L inline-4. The latter engine is so strong that it can sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5.9 seconds.
The Altima’s cabin is neatly furnished with a lot of equipment, but the interior design isn’t very high-end. Although the inside is roomy, Apple CarPlay and basic Android Auto are still not available on the infotainment system. The Altima has many driver aids and has high safety ratings. The Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Hyundai Sonata are the Altima’s rivals in this lineup. Does the Altima have what it takes to compete with these rivals? To learn more, read our in-depth assessment in its entirety.
Overview
The 2023 Nissan Altima is a handsome family sedan with roomy interior and optional all-wheel drive that serves its purpose admirably. The Altima offers two separate four-cylinder engines for its power: a base engine with 182 horsepower and a turbocharged variable-compression engine with 248 horsepower. The Altima only goes that far in terms of pushing the envelope, though. It has a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and gives a driving that is more courteous than perky regardless of the specifications. The Altima, however, is remarkably fuel-efficient for a non-hybrid vehicle with an EPA-estimated 39 mpg for highway driving. Even though it lacks the soulfulness of the Honda Accord or the refinement of the Toyota Camry, this sedan is simple to live with thanks to a big interior, comfy seating, an available 12.3-inch touchscreen screen, and a strong array of basic safety features.
AWD Nissan Altima
Every year, the number of rivals for the Nissan Altima 2022 decreases. Fusion is officially discontinued for 2022. There were fewer possibilities, but Nissan wasn’t any more challenging.
The popular Sonata from Hyundai and the stylish K5 from Kia have both been restocked. Even without mentioning the redesigned Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, that is.
It’s difficult to slide out there, but the Altima’s standout features, like the VC-Turbo engine and available all-wheel drive, help it stand out from the competition.
The mid-size sedan from Nissan also draws attention with its angular design and luxurious interior.
The Altima of this generation is also very enjoyable to drive, although even the sportier SR VC-Turbo version falls short of the Accord or Mazda6 in terms of handling and driver involvement.
The ability to control all-wheel drive is a significant advantage, however the Subaru Legacy and Camry AWD will surpass the Altima due to their identical capabilities.
Altima is absolutely worth a look, but the previous winners from Japan and the most recent from Korea continue to outshine it.
For 2022, Nissan will offer fewer Altima variations, dropping the Platinum with VC-Turbo, Platinum 2.5-liter with front-wheel drive, and base model S with all-wheel drive.
This forces the highest Platinum grade to use the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter base engine, making the sportier SR model the only one with Nissan’s 2.0-liter turbo engine.
By 2022, you’ll need to upgrade to the SV trim in order to get all-wheel drive, making the removal of the all-wheel drive S model also create the entry point for the more expensive AWD ($1,350). The SV trim also includes a Premium package that is optional.
Are 2023 Nissan Altimas already available?
Later this fall, the 2023 Nissan Altima will go on sale. The midsize sedan’s price hasn’t yet been disclosed. We anticipate that the adjustments will result in slightly higher prices for the 2023 model year than for the present one. The current Altima is priced between $25,995 to $35,695. (with destination)
What distinguishes the Nissan Altima models from 2021 and 2022?
Nissan offers five different trim options for the Altima. The 7.0-inch infotainment system in the midsize sedan’s S model boasts a touchscreen, six speakers, Bluetooth, and two USB connections. Keyless entry, remote start, and cloth upholstery are further features. A 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio is included for buyers who upgrade to the SV level. It has other common safety measures as well. Customers who want a power sunroof, heated front seats, and ProPilot Assist technology can upgrade to the SV Premium.
The turbocharged engine and sporty features are added in the SR level. Leather seating, GPS, a more advanced Bose premium audio system, and other standard high-tech equipment are added in the SL and Platinum trims. Additionally, all-wheel drive is standard on the Platinum.
The optional Midnight Edition that customers can add to the SR trim is the distinguishing feature between the 2022 Nissan Altima and 2021 versions. Black exterior accents, LED fog lights, a power sunroof, heated front seats, and heated outside mirrors are included with this package. Nissan eliminated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from the entry-level S trim in 2021.
What does a 2022 Nissan Altima cost?
The starting price of the 2022 Nissan Altima is $24,550, which is about average for the class. The SV (which has a starting price of $25,550), SR ($26,550), and SL ($29,990) are the three midlevel trims. The starting MSRP for the top Platinum trim is $34,250.
Nissan has the Altima been discontinued?
The 2013 model year Altima debuted at the 2012 New York International Auto Show and went on sale in the summer of that same year. The Ellure Concept’s 2010 preview served as inspiration for the external design.
It continued to offer a 3.5-liter V6 as the top engine and a 4-cylinder basic engine. The QR25DE 2.5-liter 16-valve DOHC inline-four engine has a rating of 182 horsepower (136 kW), 180 lb-ft (244 Nm), whereas the VQ35DE 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6 still has a rating of 270 horsepower (201 kW), 258 lb-ft (350 Nm). Thanks to its improved CVT that has been 8 pounds lighter, Nissan forecasts the 2.5-liter to have a 27 city/38 highway fuel economy and the 3.5-liter V6 to have a 22 city/30 highway fuel efficiency. The majority of the Altima’s main mechanical parts are still present. The Nissan Maxima seems to have influenced much of the exterior style. A manual transmission is not offered for the first time.
The new Altima weighs around 120 pounds less than the outgoing Altima despite being a bit bigger. Due largely to its effective use of high strength steel and aluminum in places like the trunk, hood, and roof, the Altima remains to be the lightest midsize sedan in its class. The headlights are more angular than the Versa’s spherical ones, and the front end has the same new corporate grille. Many of its aesthetic cues come from “coke bottle styling,” a look that was prominent in the 1960s and 1970s and a throwback to one Nissan used at the time.
The Nissan L33 Altima is available in the US in five distinct trim levels: 2.5, 2.5 S, 2.5 SV, 2.5 SL, and 3.5 SL. The 2015 model year saw the end of the 3.5 S and 3.5 SV. The L32 Altima coupe from the previous generation will remain on sale in addition to the L33 Altima sedan. The only engine available for the coupe is the 2.5-liter QR25DE four-cylinder, rated at 175 horsepower (130 kW) and 180 lb-ft (244 Nm) of torque when combined with a CVT. Due to low sales, the 6-speed manual transmission is no longer offered in the Altima Sedan. Formerly an option package for the Altima 2.5 S, the SL model is now sold separately.
The car went on sale in June in the United States and August of the same year in Canada after production began in late May 2012. Along with these existing and new markets, the Altima will also be sold in the Middle East, where it will replace the fourth-generation L32A models, and for the first time in Australia, where it will replace the Nissan Maxima J32 (Teana). On April 5, 2017, the L33 Altima and the Pulsar sedan, which was based on the B17 Sylphy, were both retired in Australia and New Zealand. [Reference needed]
Nissan will only concentrate on the sedan form of the Altima while the hybrid and coupe are retired. The Nissan Altima Coupe was canceled due to sluggish sales after the 2013 model year.
The 2022 Altima is produced where?
The Altima is available in S, SV, SR, and Platinum variants and is made in Tennessee and Mississippi. For $1,400, all-wheel drive is offered in addition to front-wheel drive.

Has the 2022 Altima a CVT?
Nissan provides the 2022 Nissan Altima with two powertrain choices (r). The Sedan’s base engine is a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated 2.5L DOHC 16-valve unit that produces 180 lb.-ft. of torque in addition to 188 horsepower. It comes standard with front-wheel drive. The engine is coupled with an XTRONIC CVT(r) (Continuously Variable Transmission). Depending on the driving circumstances, the arrangement enables the Sedan to attain an estimated fuel economy of 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the motorways.
The SR VC-TurboTM trim of the 2022 Nissan Altima(r) is available for thrill-seeking fans. A 2.0L Variable Compression Turbo (VC-TurboTM) DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine and electronic sequential multi-point fuel injection are included in the Sedan. The 2022 Nissan Altima(r) SR VC-TurboTM offers a fuel efficiency of about 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highways depending on driving circumstances when combined with the standard XTRONIC CVT(r) transmission attached to the engine. The SR VC-standard Turbo’s sport-tuned suspension improves overall control during maneuvering at high speeds.
Which Nissan Altima or Maxima is superior?
The Maxima excels if power is what you’re want, but the Altima is the better choice if efficiency is what you’re after. Both vehicles have fantastic gas mileage, but the Altima particularly shines in this department thanks to its VC-Turbo engine. Amazingly, the 2020 Nissan Altima gets 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the interstate. The Maxima offers an impressive 20 city and 30 highway miles per gallon, though not quite as high.
