On February 4, 2021, the third-generation Frontier model for the 2022 model year was presented. This was the first Frontier model specifically designed for the North American market and not shared with the worldwide model. Compared to the second-generation Frontier, the third-generation Frontier is 5 in (13 cm) longer. The vehicle is supported on a redesigned, previous model-era high-strength steel ladder frame chassis. It is available with rear- or four-wheel drive, an expanded King Cab and crew-cab configuration, and either a five- or six-foot cargo box length. According to Nissan, the car can tow up to 6,720 lb or carry a payload of up to 1,610 lb (730 kg) (3,048 kg).
Base S, SV, Pro-X, and top-spec Pro-4X trim levels are available. The King Cab (extended cab) is available in the US with two- or four-wheel drive and a 6.1-foot bed in either the S or SV trim. In the S and SV trims, the crew cab has a choice of two- or four-wheel drive, while four-wheel drive is standard on the Pro-4X. There is no two-wheel drive vehicle available in Canada; all trim levels come standard with four-wheel drive. Electronic locking differentials, Bilstein off-road shocks, and underbody skid plates come standard on the Pro-4X trim.
Alongside the D23 Frontier, which has been available in Mexico since 2014, this model is also sold there. On August 9, 2021, Nissan’s Mexican division officially announced that it would go on sale in Mexico as a rival to the Toyota Tacoma and the Chevrolet Colorado. To set it apart from the D23 Frontier, it is marketed as the “Frontier V6 Pro-4X.” On September 29, 2021, it was put up for sale.

Nissan representative Kevin Raftery confirmed in an email that the brand-new 2022 Nissan Frontier will go on sale in the first half of 2021. “Until manufacturing on the 2022 model year begins at Nissan’s Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant in Mississippi, a model year 2021 Frontier will be built.”
Early in 2021, the 2022 Frontier will be displayed, and later this week, 2021 models are anticipated to be on sale. Unknown is the exact launch date for the 2022 model.
Nissan introduced a new V-6 for the 2020 Frontier, the first significant update since its last makeover in 2005. The base engine was replaced last year by the 310-hp 3.8-liter V-6 with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which was an improvement over the 261-hp 4.0-liter V-6. The Frontier’s low-cost appeal came from its 152-hp 2.5-liter inline-4 with a 6-speed manual or dated 5-speed automatic.
Even the new V-6, which debuted in the 2020 and current 2021 models, has a starting price of $27,885 in rear-wheel drive form, which is nearly $2,000 more expensive than the outgoing V-6. The Frontier continues to ride on a solid rear axle with leaf springs and an optional part-time four-wheel-drive system. There were rumors that the update from last year would result in a completely new 2021 model, however that is not the case.
With the 2019 Ford Ranger’s return, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator’s release, and the updated 2021 Honda Ridgeline, the mid-size pickup truck market has grown more competitive in recent years. With the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz and electric trucks like the Rivian R1T and Lordstown Endurance, there will be an increase in mid-size pickup truck options.

According to information from at least two sources, Nissan is getting ready to unveil the 2021 Nissan Frontier the next year (in 2021). A few of these stories were published a few months ago, and they indicated that the launch and/or production will begin in September 2021.
Nissan has already launched the updated and refreshed 2021 Nissan Titan and Titan XD, thus September of that year makes sense as the launch date for the following Nissan Frontier. According to the company, these full-size trucks will go on sale in the first half of 2021. The current concentration of Nissan’s truck business on the new Frontier merely makes sense.
Every September, Dallas hosts the Texas State Fair Auto Show. It is a fantastic location for a new automobile to debut. Without any alterations, the current Frontier car dates back to the 2005 model year. It’s time to acquire the new features, power, and elegance of this truck.
Will the Nissan Frontier debut in 2021?
The Nissan Frontier is a mid-size pickup truck with room for up to five occupants in 2021. It has a 3.8-liter V-6 engine with 310 horsepower and a nine-speed automated transmission.
Is the Nissan Frontier 2022 model delayed?
We’ve been anticipating the brand-new Nissan Frontier for the past year, but there’s a narrative twist now. There will not be a new model until 2022. But why must we wait till the Nissan Frontier debuts in 2022?
According to USA Today, the current COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has contributed to a number of delays in the automotive sector. To protect employees, automakers stop operations, and some start making personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves and masks for front-line workers.
Additionally, several automakers are experiencing output bottlenecks as a result of equipment delays. Even the much awaited Ford Bronco has experienced delays, but maybe we can resume production in time for 2021.
What will the Nissan Frontier cost in 2021?
For the King Cab/long bed combo and Crew Cab/short bed combo, the Frontier has a starting price of $27,090 and $28,200, respectively. That costs more than most competitors’ starting prices. Starting at $37,790, the Frontier Pro-4X is less expensive than the top-trim costs of the majority of competitors.
Where is the Nissan Frontier made for 2022?
The Frontier has been constructed in Mississippi since 2012. Particularly in Canton, MS, at the Nissan Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant. There are many positive aspects of the practically entirely new Frontier that is coming out in 2022. This mid-size truck has a refined suspension, a standard V6 engine, and real capability. These factors make the success of the Frontier seem logical.
Additionally, the 2022 Frontier’s exterior appears incredibly durable. The Frontier had really begun to age before 2022, but that is no longer the true. This pickup’s inside has also been renovated by Nissan to feel more upscale and cozy.
Are there any 2021 Nissan Frontier recalls?
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling specific Titan and Frontier models for the model years 2020 to 2022. When the car is put in park, the transmission parking pawl might not engage, which might cause the car to roll away.
How much larger is the Nissan Frontier for 2022?
The US starting price of the 2022 Nissan Frontier includes the $1,225 destination fee and is $29,365. The Pro-4X model under examination here has an MSRP of $38,595, and this particular model costs $46,570 with a variety of upgrades.
The Nissan Frontier from 2022 is indeed larger than the vehicle it succeeds. Compared to the preceding Frontier, which had a maximum length of 219.4 inches, this model has a maximum length of 224.1 inches. The former truck had a width of 72.8 inches, whereas this one has a width of 73.0 inches.
The Frontier’s off-road option is the Pro-4X trim. It has larger wheels, skid plates that are installed up front, a little higher ride height, and low-range gearing.
Is a Frontier 2021 worth purchasing?
One of the most well-rounded midsize pickup trucks available right now is commonly regarded as the Ridgeline. It provides more cutting-edge safety features than the Frontier, a comfortable ride, and superior fuel efficiency. The seats provide extra room and padding as well. On the other side, the Ridgeline doesn’t have an off-road variant, and its maximum towing capacity is smaller. The decision that is wiser for you ultimately depends on how you want to use your new truck.
The Gladiator is a film that is unique in many respects. Like the Wrangler SUV on which it is based, it features a detachable roof and exceptional off-roading capabilities. However, the cabin is not at all modern, as critics have noted. Nevertheless, the Gladiator seems more up to date and modern than the exceedingly archaic Frontier. If cost is a deciding factor, the Frontier is significantly less expensive than the Gladiator.
The 2021 Nissan Frontier is a truck that should be taken into consideration if you want a vehicle that performs well but lacks many bells and whistles. Many drivers, though, would be better served by waiting until 2022 to see what Nissan has in store for this vehicle. Hopefully, the interior will undergo a thorough renovation, and there will be more technological options available. The Frontier will be difficult to surpass if it starts providing smartphone integration and cutting-edge driving assistance capabilities.

Does the Nissan Frontier retain its value?
Despite being rebuilt for 2022, the Nissan Frontier still has some of the lowest predicted resale values of any vehicle now on the market. According to IntelliChoice, the average Frontier will only keep 58.0 percent of its value after five years of regular ownership. Due to its cutting-edge technology and safety features, this Nissan Frontier is unquestionably the best it has produced in a while.
What does SV on a Nissan Frontier mean?
The Nissan Frontier SV is a step up from the Frontier S and has a number of noteworthy features. The SV in its name stands for “Standard Vehicle.” A motorized driver’s seat, a folding back window, and 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are among the features of the 2022 Nissan Frontier SV. These aid in making this mid-size truck more useful and fashionable.
The Frontier no longer has the standard four-cylinder engine and manual transmission that it once did. Even the Nissan Frontier SV will get a 3.8-liter V6 engine as standard for 2022, producing 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque.
Is the Frontier 2022 a wise choice?
The redesigned 2022 Frontier is a far better vehicle by almost every metric, which is fantastic news. It is a more capable, comfortable, and well-equipped truck than the outdated Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado, and even while it isn’t a complete redesign, it is still quite competitive in its class.
It’s important to note that Nissan decided against expanding the Frontier’s size, which would have made it harder to operate, park, and store in a garage. Instead, Nissan decided to preserve the Frontier’s current footprint.
The drawback of such a long overdue update is that it cost a lot of money to bring the Frontier into the current day by adding all of the new safety devices and technology. New costs have advanced significantly as well, increasing by about $9,000 in total.
The 2022 Nissan Frontier has a lot of positive aspects, but it also has some drawbacks. Check out Aaron Bragman’s whole assessment at the link above for our in-depth analysis. For a condensed version, see the list below of six positive aspects and four negative aspects of the 2022 Frontier.
