The 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) turbo, 16-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy inline 4-cylinder engine that comes standard with the Nissan JUKE is capable of producing 188 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The engine delivers energetic performance while using little fuel. By improving combustion, direct injection raises power, torque, efficiency, and emissions. Power is additionally increased by the usage of the turbocharger and intercooler, and low-end engine response is enhanced through variable timing control for the intake and exhaust cycles.

For the Qashqai, Nissan creates a new 1.3-liter DIG-T engine.
For the Qashqai, Nissan has announced a new engine option. The 1.3-liter DIG-T gasoline engine is made to use less fuel and emit less greenhouse gases.
The new unit was created as a result of the combined Renault-Nissan Alliance project and is available in 140ps and 160ps outputs. The engine will also be offered starting in November in conjunction with a brand-new 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), marking the debut of this system in a production Nissan.
A 140ps 6-speed manual, a 160ps 6-speed manual, and a 160ps 7-speed DCT will all be offered with the 1.3-liter engine. The low output manual has a torque rating of 240 Nm, the high output manual has 260 Nm, and the DCT has 270 Nm. The new Euro 6d-Temp emissions criteria will be met by everybody.
“The debut of this all-new 1.3-liter unit is the correct answer to changing market conditions, satisfying consumer demand for a highly effective gasoline engine that delivers great driving performance and fuel efficiency,” said Alex Smith, managing director at Nissan Motor.
The 1.2 115ps manual and CVT, as well as the 1.6 163ps manual, are three previous powertrains that are directly replaced by the three new ones. The new engine intends to give a smoother response at low RPM, more powerful acceleration, and quicker, safer overtaking maneuvers in addition to reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The engine design has been fundamentally altered from earlier gasoline engines, which has resulted in increased efficiency. In addition to the addition of a gasoline particulate filter, the fuel injection system, combustion chamber layout, decreased friction, and turbocharger optimization all received upgrades. Due to the stronger torque at low RPM, it also provides a quieter experience.
Additionally, the OEM asserts that lower maintenance expenditures over the engine’s lifetime have decreased the cost of ownership. This indicates that the interval between oil changes has been raised to 30,000km. The new 1.3-liter 140ps manual has 50Nm more torque than the old 1.2-liter 115ps manual.

The Nissan ZEOD RC hybrid racer will be powered by this engine at Le Mans in June. Nissan originally described the racer as having a “unspecified electric powerplant.” Each fuel stint will allow the ZEOD to complete one circuit of the Circuit de la Sarthe, according to Nissan, and will last around an hour. The DIG-T R will power the Nissan for the duration of the race, save for the one lap run on electric power every fuel stint. The ZEOD’s five-speed transmission will be used by both power sources. Nissan will compete in the competition with the Garage 56 entry, which is designed to promote cutting-edge technology. The carmaker did not provide further details, but it did state that it hoped to gain a lot of knowledge from its participation in the 2014 race that could be transferred to its intended LMP1 racer that will compete in the 2015 race.
Summary of Performance & Technical Specifications for the Nissan Qashqai DIG-T 158 4WD
2021 saw the debut of the Nissan Qashqai DIG-T 158 4WD in dealerships. The 2017 Nissan Qashqai 1.6 DIG-T is replaced by it. It is a front-biased, five-door, compact crossover SUV with a front engine and seating for five people. The Qashqai DIG-T 158 4WD’s turbocharged 1.3 Liter 16v Inline 4 gasoline engine, which has 154 total horsepower, can reach 62 mph in 9.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 123 mph. It has a curb weight of 3311 pounds, gets an average fuel economy of 34.3 mpg, and has a range of 498 miles before needing to refuel. It has an automatic CVT transmission. The maximum cargo capacity is 1186 lbs, and there is 16.9 cubic feet of luggage room that can be increased to 50.2 cubic feet for heavier loads. Last revised on August 27, 2021.
The 1.5 dCi turbodiesel is expected to cost about PS1,500 more than the smaller petrol turbo, which replaces both the 1.2-liter and 1.6 motors.
In exchange of not one, but two retiring engines—the 1.2-liter turbo with 115 horsepower and the 1.6-liter turbo with 163 horsepower—Nissan has developed a new 1.3-liter DIG-T turbo petrol engine.
The new engine, which is available in 140- and 160-horsepower configurations, offers a noticeable increase in power over the popular 1.2-liter DIG-T. It is also more cost-effective, getting up to 53.3 mpg on average and producing 121g/km of CO2.
Even better, because the new 1.3 DIG-T engine has been put through rigorous testing to meet the more stringent WLTP fuel economy standards, 53 mpg should theoretically be easier to achieve in everyday driving.
Additionally, the service intervals have been increased from 12,500 miles to 18,000 miles, and it has 36lb ft more pulling force.
A gasoline particulate filter is installed in the Renault-Nissan Alliance engine to minimize NOx emissions (downsized turbocharged direct injection petrol motors can produce surprisingly high levels during certain situations). Nissan claims that it is quieter than the occasionally overworked 1.2 because it has better pulling power at lower rpm. Acceleration and pushing when overtaking are also preferable.
It comes after Nissan recently improved its 1.5 dCi turbodiesel by adding NOx-reducing exhaust aftertreatment technology.
The launch of this brand-new 1.3-liter unit is the appropriate response to changing market conditions, satisfying consumer demand for a highly effective petrol engine that delivers great driving performance and fuel efficiency, said Alex Smith, MD of Nissan Motor GB Ltd.
Prices range from PS19,595 for a Qashqai Visia 1.3 DIG-T 140 to PS28,595 for a Qashqai Tekna 1.3 DIG-T 160 with the highest level of equipment. A seven-speed DCT automatic transmission is expected to be available starting in November for all vehicles.
The introduction of the new engine is also positive for the Qashqai’s enduring values. After three years and 30,000 miles, according to CAP HPI, a 1.3 DIG-T 140 Acenta Premium will be worth 50.1 percent of its list price, which is good news for affordable PCP payments.
Even modern gasoline engines are typically less expensive than their diesel counterparts, which should be helpful in this situation. According to Nissan’s estimated pricing, the 1.3 DIG-T is around PS1,500 less expensive than a 1.5 dCi turbodiesel of equal specification.
Nissan Juke has been updated with a 1.2 DIG-T turbocharged engine.
At the Geneva Motor Show, Nissan unveiled a radically updated Nissan Juke compact crossover. Nissan Juke has sold 420,000 units since its launch on the market a little more than three years ago. Juke, Nissan’s second-most popular model in Europe, is reportedly the best-selling vehicle in the premium B-segment in Europe, outpacing all of its direct rivals, including those from the leading German automakers.
The new Juke features a new front and rear design that places more of an emphasis on premium refinement and sporty design cues, a new downsized 1.2-liter turbocharged engine that offers better performance, economy, and lower emissions, a revised 1.6-liter DIG-T engine, improved four-wheel drive with Torque Vectoring System, new alloy wheels, and advanced equipment like a new audio system, the most recent generation NissanConnect driver-vehicle interface, Nissa, and
A variant with higher power (218PS/160kW), better brakes, a sturdier body, and a limited slip differential on two wheel drive models, the extreme new Juke Nismo RS was also unveiled by Nissan.
drivetrains and engines. For the new Juke, there are three engine options; one is brand-new, while the other has undergone significant revision. The current 1.5 dCi diesel engine continues to produce 110ps (108 hp, 81 kW).
The modern turbocharged direct injection 1.2-liter DIG-T petrol engine, developed by the Renault-Nissan Alliance, replaces the outgoing 1.6-liter unit with 117 ps (115 horsepower), and it produces 190 N*m (140 lb-ft) of torque in addition to 115 ps (113 hp, 85kW). The Qashqai also offers the 1.2L DIG-T.
Despite being smaller, the 1.2-liter (1197cc) turbocharged engine provides more torque and quicker acceleration than the previous 1.6-liter normally aspirated engine.
Performance is cleaner and more cost-effective because to its less weight, built-in automated Stop/Start feature, and more fuel-efficient operation. The 1.2 DIG-T engine consumes 5.5 l/100 km of petrol and emits 126g/km of CO2 (42.8 mpg US).
The current 1.6 DIG-T gasoline engine has been upgraded to produce torque with a lower end below 2,000 rpm. It already complies with Euro 6 standards, producing 140 kW (188 hp), with target emissions of 139 g/km of CO2 for the 2WD models. A greater combustion ratio (raised from 9.5 to 10.5:1), enhanced low friction technology, and cooled exhaust gas recirculation are some of its new characteristics.
The 2017 Juke 1.6 DIG-T 4WD is optionally available with a new Xtronic transmission gearbox that further enhances fuel economy, acceleration, and all-around performance in addition to a six-speed manual transmission.
At Nissan’s factory in Sunderland, United Kingdom, three shifts are required each day to keep up with demand if all Juke models are to be marketed in Europe.
Juke has drawn in a sizable number of brand-new customers. In addition to being the highest conquest product in the Nissan lineup and a model that comfortably outperforms the B-segment average, up to 85% of sales have been to first-time Nissan customers. Many of these new purchasers were downsizing from larger automobiles.
A game-changing Nissan Qashqai 1.6 DIG-T 163 could be more refined and quiet.
Even though running a DIG-T petrol Qashqai isn’t the cheapest option, the original 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine has been greatly improved. Although the diesel is still the best option if you drive a lot of miles, the Nissan Qashqai DIG-T is still an enticing all-around package. It is faster, cleaner, and more powerful.
Nissan expects that in the not-too-distant future, 50% of all new Qashqais sold will be petrol-powered, which is surprising in a world where diesel dominates the SUV industry. In the UK, the current split is 55% diesel and 45% gasoline, but with a new, quieter, faster, and more efficient turbo petrol on the market, things could soon change.
The older 2.0-liter gasoline is replaced with the newer 1.6-liter DIG-T 163, which joins the 1.2-liter DIG-T 115. It can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just over nine seconds thanks to its 161 horsepower, making it the fastest and most potent Qashqai in the lineup.
It reduces the original 2.0-liter’s 0-62 mph time by seven tenths, and because it has 44 Nm more torque, it feels even quicker as it shifts through the gears. If you switch gears too rapidly, the engine will hit a flat spot and you will have to wait for the turbo to spool. However, a major 14 mpg increase in fuel efficiency and a significant 54 g/km cut in CO2 emissions make this automobile significantly less expensive to operate.
With sharper steering and less body roll, the Mazda CX-5 is still more enjoyable to drive, but on open roads, the Qashqai is a classy highway cruiser. With the radio off, the petrol engine is barely audible, in part due to the noise isolation package present on all dCi diesel vehicles.
This mid-spec n-tec crossover comes equipped with everything you could want for a PS20,000 vehicle. Nissan anticipates that sales of this new trim will make up 50% of all Qashqai sales.
The 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome trim, and gloss-black grille enhance the vehicle’s design. Cruise control and a full-length panoramic roof are also featured.
Of course, practicality continues to be a strength of the Qashqai in addition to affordability. Numerous ingenious features can be found throughout, and the inside has been carefully planned out. It became clear from a brief conversation with Nissan’s product managers at the company’s technical center in Cranfield, Beds, how crucial customer input is when creating a new automobile. It is evident how much of this knowledge has trickled down into its most recent models, which have low-set cupholders for an improved user experience.
Customers won’t be let down by the DIG-T 163. While the diesel continues to be our favorite engine in the lineup, this new petrol engine makes perfect sense if you prefer high-speed refinement. It is sophisticated, costs PS250 less than the 113bhp dCi, and still manages to achieve over 50mpg.
