Hyundai has always been a pioneer in the automobile industry. In light of this, it comes as no surprise that Hyundai was among the first car companies to provide Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in various models beginning in 2015. There are now a handful of new Hyundai models that are compatible with Android Auto and CarPlay, and more are constantly being introduced.
Android Auto was introduced to the Hyundai lineup with the 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Currently, some 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT, 2016 Tucson, 2016 Genesis, 2017 Santa Fe, and 2017 Santa Fe Sport models, among others, have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay options. Is Apple CarPlay available?
With its smartphones and tablets, Apple is a titan. A wonderful operating system has been created to keep track of all your everyday activities and organizes them into a simple manner that you can access on your cellphone.
The vast majority of Americans who drive do so while carrying their iPhones with them wherever they go. All-new Tucson Active and ActiveX model variations sold starting in September 2015 will support Apple CarPlay. Owners of vehicles that were delivered before September will be able to upgrade to CarPlay capability with a quick software update that can be installed at home or at a dealership.
Early in 2016, the all-new Tucson Active and ActiveX will both support Google Android Auto connectivity with simple software updates.

Can my Hyundai get Apple CarPlay?

Can a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe have Apple CarPlay installed?
As of right now, Hyundai Australia has introduced an infotainment update for a select few vehicles, bringing Apple CarPlay compatibility to variations in the i30, Tucson, and Santa Fe lines.
Apple CarPlay, which was created to essentially replace a car’s in-car entertainment system with the familiar iPhone platform, has now been released internationally in more than 100 model lines since it was first shown in March 2014.
Hyundai’s CarPlay debuted overseas with the Tucson, but now Australian purchasers and current owners of pre-configured models can also use the platform.
CarPlay is a standard feature on the Active, Active X, and SR variants of the compact i30 Series II range, as well as any already-sold vehicles constructed in the fourth quarter of 2015. Existing models can be upgraded with the new software during a 15-minute visit to a Hyundai dealership.
While current Tucson SUV owners can also contact a Hyundai dealership to have their vehicles upgraded, new Tucson SUV customers in the Active and Active X trims will also have immediate access to CarPlay.
The redesigned 2016 Santa Fe Series II, which was released locally in November, now comes standard with CarPlay, and current Series II owners may gain the same access by visiting a dealership.

“When Apple makes these systems better by adjusting performance, introducing new features, or enabling new apps, they will be instantly available in your vehicle.”
UPDATE: Hyundai Australia has verified to CarAdvice that, as of right now, higher-spec cars above the Active and Active X grades are not compatible with CarPlay.
Hyundai Australia PR manager Guido Schenken told CarAdvice that while the company hopes to enhance those systems in the future to support CarPlay, “it is not 100% assured at this moment.”
“Although it’s highly probable to occur and that’s what we want to do, we’re working on it with our suppliers. At this time, we can’t confirm the timing.”
When or if the infotainment systems in those models are eventually made CarPlay compatible, it is unknown if owners of existing Elite and Highlander vehicles will have the same dealer-visit upgrade option.
The 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe is Apple CarPlay compatible.
Current Hyundai owners of vehicles from the 2015 model year and later are eligible for a free infotainment system upgrade that includes support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Hyundai initially revealed this feature for American users, however it may soon be made available to European users of compatible models. For Hyundai owners in other international markets, the same holds true.
Hyundai dealerships across the country will have the software available and charge an undisclosed installation cost, but they will only have this beginning in June.
A user has to have the VIN on hand, along with a USB memory stick or an SD card from the navigation system, in order to download and finish the update. Consider that the latter needs an adapter to work with the majority of computers.
Owners must then carry out the installation procedures. To avoid having to repeat the process in the event that you forget what to do, we advise writing them down or opening them on your phone as well.
The 2015 Sonata and 2015 Genesis are the earliest Hyundai models that can be upgraded. The car must have been ordered with the navigation system in the case of the Sonata, or an 8-inch touchscreen navigation system with a rear-view camera in the case of the Genesis, for this update to be compatible with it.
Hyundai’s 2016 Elantra GT and Tucson, as well as the Sonata and Genesis, are more recent vehicles that can handle this update. Naturally, the feature needs to be supported by the Navigation system. Although they haven’t yet been made available to customers, the 2017 Santa Fe Sport versions with a 7-inch touchscreen and those with an 8-inch navigation system are also suitable for this update. The 2017 Santa Fe is the same.
Hyundai has also stated that owners of the Sonata Hybrid, Veloster, Sonata Plug-in Hybrid, and Azera will receive updates on this subject. As long as they have a suitable infotainment system, if you ask us, they will probably support the same upgrade.
