Nissan only allowed 10 GTR cars to be sold in India within the first year after the GTR’s official launch there in December 2016 for Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). These are 7 interesting Nissan GTR facts that you probably didn’t know.
1. The Skyline GT-R, the first GT-R, made its appearance in the late 1950s. However, Prince Motors, a different Japanese automaker, was the company that first produced the Skyline vehicles. Datsun eventually acquired the business, and in 1969 it debuted the Skyline GT-R. Nissan eventually replaced Datsun as the nameplate.
2. The GT-R gained the moniker “Godzilla” following a streak of triumphs in motorsports in the early 1990s. Because of its dominance in the races, some Australian media started referring to it as Godzilla or the Japanese monster.
3. Five master artisans who Nissan refers to as Takumi handcraft and assemble each of the 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbo engines found in the GTR. The engine is put together at Nissan’s Yokohama facility in a temperature-controlled space. The Takumi mounts the engine block with a plaque bearing his name after the procedure, which can take up to six hours.
4. The GTR is one of the world’s fastest-accelerating four-seater vehicles. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.8 seconds, bringing it on par with Porsche 911 and Lamborghini Aventador.
5. The GT-R has appeared in a number of video games, including Gran Turismo and Forza, as well as well-known Hollywood productions, including the Fast and the Furious series. In fact, Brian O’Conner, the late Paul Walker’s character in the movie, loved it.
6. The current GT-R has also evolved into a far more useful machine; it now has an 8-inch screen, 16 fewer switches on the center console, and seats with superior bolstering for increased comfort. Additionally, it is much safer now because the tires employ nitrogen and can resist a puncture even when traveling at 200 kph!
7. Nissan made the decision to pay a rather unique homage to India on its 68th Republic Day in January of this year. On a dry lake bed in Rajasthan, the GT-R was used to draw the largest outline of the Indian map (read more about it here). The accomplishment has placed the GT-R in the Limca Book of Records.

The 2021 Nissan GT-R Premium 2dr Coupe AWD is the model with the lowest price (3.8L 6cyl Turbo 6AM). It has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of around $113,540 when destination charges are added.
Which vehicle is dubbed Godzilla?
In 1989, the Skyline R32 earned the moniker “Godzilla” for its ability to rule Japanese Touring Car Racing. The GT-R was only available in Japan, though, so the rest of the world could only learn about it from magazines.
Can I bring an automobile into India from Japan?
The procedures for bringing in a brand-new car differ from those for bringing in a secondhand car. To import a new vehicle, the following prerequisites must be satisfied:
The vehicle must be brand-new in every way. It cannot have been registered, leased, sold, or loaned before being imported into India.
The car’s headlights ought to be designed so they can illuminate the left side of the road.
Only the naval docks in Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata can import automobiles. Therefore, just one of these ports should be used to transport the car to India.
Is JDM prohibited in India?
Mumbai, Banglore, and Chennai are the three main ports in India where you can receive your car by ship. You won’t get to pick the location of the car’s shipping or arrival; instead, you’ll be informed. You must visit the port to pay the “180% of the import duty” after the car arrives at the port. According to past Toyota imports, my estimate, depending on the kit and variant, will be between Rs 85 lakh and Rs 95 lakh. The vehicle’s purchase price already includes a 180 percent import duty. If the car’s selling price is assumed to be 90 lakh, the import duty would be 1.62 crore. You’ll need to spend about 2.5 crore in total. This deters the consumer from choosing a JDM vehicle because, with the same 2.5 crore, he or she may afford to purchase opulent vehicles without having to pay any import duties. A JDM car aficionado won’t care about this at all.
After completing this step, you must drive your vehicle to the RTO in your local city to have it registered in your name. Once the registration is complete, you are now able to legally operate your vehicle on Indian roads.
Is R34 available in India?
The Nissan GT-R is known as the Godzilla in the world of sports cars and supercars for obvious reasons. After the Nissan R32 Skyline GT-commercial R’s success, the phrase gained use. The R35 GT-R, the model for the most recent generation, is just as capable of taking down monsters as its forerunners while having a completely new design. One of the most well-known vehicles in the GT-R series, which dates back to 1957, is the R34 (Nissan started making it by 1969 though). So, in honor of Car Crazy India’s photos, let’s have a look at the few Nissan R34 Skyline GT-Rs in India today.
There are currently just 4 Nissan R34 Skyline GT-Rs in existence. The grey vehicle you see here was imported to Delhi in the middle of the 2000s and was a luxurious vehicle at the time. It is now, however, abandoned someplace in Coimbatore, which is really upsetting.
The blue Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V Spec from Chennai, which is an uncommon sight, comes next on the list. To be clear, the most recent generation model (the R35) does not use the Skyline name, but we’ll get to it later. The blue R34 in the photo below has nice-looking golden wheels and is housed in the same garage as other JDM legends including a Twin Turbo Toyota Supra and India’s only RHD Acura NSX.
The next vehicle is this gorgeously wrapped GT-R from Bangalore. Along with that distinctive wrap job, it has lovely golden alloy wheels, which enhances its aesthetic appeal. From 1999 to 2002, Nissan produced Skyline GT-Rs in the R34 series.
The fact that this GT-R is also the most potent model of the vehicle in India is an additional intriguing feature. It generates around 700 Bhp of power! That is a crazy number considering how few automobiles in India today have that much power.
The silver Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R you can see below is the fourth and last one in this group. This car was first seen in Mumbai in the early 2000s after being imported there. However, it was subsequently sold to a Chennai consumer. Given that it has only occasionally been seen in the open, it is a somewhat uncommon sight.
Let’s get into the specifics of this performance icon. It was debuted in 1999 as a replacement for the R33 GT-R and was technologically superior in every way. It had a 2568cc inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine that produced 280 PS @ 6,800 rpm to propel it. Numerous accounts claim that the car’s true power output was far beyond 300 PS, however Nissan lowered the official rating because of certain rules. The last Skyline series vehicle to make other sports cars wet their pants, the R34 was, is, and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
