The Nissan Leaf is to blame for the existence of all electric automobiles today. With the release of the Leaf in 2010, Nissan was one of the first automakers to produce an affordable electric vehicle. The replacement for the Leaf will be “better tuned to the needs of the modern EV buyer,” according to all available sources.
Nissan just updated the Leaf for 2023, but it doesn’t go nearly far enough to improve the car’s ability to compete in the market.
With a revamped lineup and new exterior appearance, the Leaf debuts for the 2018 model year. The 40-kWh battery pack and a single electric motor with 147 horsepower remain standard for the electric hatchback. With a 214-hp motor and a 62-kWh battery pack, the SV Plus trim is equipped. The Leaf’s maximum range is 215 miles, compared to quite a few competitors who are solidly in the 260-mile area.
Nissan lost out on the chance to dominate the market for all-electric vehicles. While Chevrolet, Kia, Hyundai, and Ford have been working hard to release new models with greater range, more technology, and better performance. Will there be a Leaf in 2022?

This model has a starting price of $27,400, and it is this particular unit that, after applying the entire $7,500 tax credit, can be purchased for under $20,000.
The Leaf SL Plus represents the pinnacle of the Leaf line. With 215 miles on the tank, it doesn’t have the longest range in the fleet, but its $37,400 price tag does feature Bose speakers and some leather seats.
The S Plus or the SV Plus, both of which cost $32,400 and come with the 62 kWh battery and 226 miles of range, are the most likely choices for prospective purchasers. Despite having a somewhat lesser range of 215 miles, the vehicle costs an additional $35,400 and comes with 17 aluminum alloy wheels, an all-around camera system, LED headlights, ProPilot assist, and the optional Door to Door Navigation with Premium Traffic. Sadly, we were unable to test this final functionality.
It should be noted that the SV, SV Plus, and SL Plus models are the only ones with Nissan’s ProPilot Assist driver assistance technology.
Are Nissan LEAF sales strong?
Nissan reports that during the first quarter of 2022, vehicle sales declined significantly in the US. The overall volume was 189,835, which is 29% less than it was the previous year.
