The hub bore of the Tacoma is larger even though the wheel stud spacing (6 X 5.5) is the same (106mm vs 100mm on the Xterra). Make sure the wheel is properly centered. Steel wheels may be mounted easily using your stock Nissan hubs. Steel wheels can’t use hub rings since there isn’t a counter bore for the rings to fit into, thus you must center them properly using the lug nuts (not the best option, but doable).
New lug studs must be purchased and replaced. On its aluminum wheels, Toyota uses lug shanks, also known as mag shanks.
