Has Chris Brown postponed his performance?
According to Fox 26 Houston, Chris Brown left Houston without performing at a benefit performance for which he had a legal commitment.
After the musician threw in the towel after agreeing to perform at the “One Night Benefit Concert in March, Houston entrepreneur LeJuan Bailey, the owner of DML Real Estate Investors and Construction, is preparing to take legal action against the performer.
According to Radar Online, Bailey planned the charity event to collect money for people in Texas and Louisiana whose homes were destroyed by Hurricanes Ida and Nicholas.
“I am disturbed and troubled that Chris Brown, who refused to appear after the concert had been announced and tickets sold, thwarted my efforts to raise money for residents of Houston, Southeast Texas, and Louisiana, whose homes were destroyed by recent hurricanes,” Bailey said at a press conference. She spent over $2 million of her own money to pay Brown’s compensation and travel expenses.
“I supported this concert out of compassion for the community members who were in need. Acting in good faith, I find it shocking that Chris Brown won’t give me a money back refund.
The Grammy-winning singer Monica and other performers were scheduled to play at the Toyota Center with the multi-platinum recording artist. Fox 26 reports that Brown, however, announced his last-minute cancellation via an Instagram post.
Bailey claims that despite contacting Brown and his management group to request a refund, she has not heard back.
She added in a statement to the press, “I behaved in good faith and sponsored this event out of love and respect for residents in need.
“At this time, I humbly think Chris Brown’s acts are comparable to outright larceny. He has the unfathomable arrogance to take my money, humiliate Houstonians, and then play there once more on August 17, 2022. I want Chris Brown to know that we won’t stand by and let him trash the people who are in need after Hurricanes Ida and Nicholas.
In her closing remarks, Bailey mentioned that she had spoken with the police, who had subpoenaed Brown’s documents to show that he had really received the money.
Rapper Lil’ Baby and Brown are planned to perform together in August at the Toyota Center.
