The Supra 3.0 and 3.0 Premium will both come with a manual gearbox as an option, while a special A91-MT Edition variant will only be built for the 2023 model year.

Toyota Supra is it automatic or manual?
Toyota only offered the eighth-generation Supra with an eight-speed automatic transmission when it first debuted the model in 2019. It’s a decent gearbox, but a real sports car should at least include a manual transmission option. When Toyota eventually realized this, it took them over three years, and in the beginning of 2022, they began to offer the Supra with the long-awaited six-speed manual transmission. Now the question is: should you choose the upgraded Supra or the recently released GR86 if you want to buy a Toyota sports vehicle with a manual transmission? In their most recent episode, the TopGear boys attempt to provide you with an answer to that query.
Why is the new Supra an automatic only vehicle?
We trust Toyota when it says it went to great lengths to build this transmission exclusively for this car because BMW does not currently sell the B58 inline-sixthe version that powers six-cylinder Supraswith a manual transmissionin the United States. The power of the engine will be the same as when it is mated to the eight-speed automatic, but the final-drive ratio for the manual is shorter (3.46 vs. 3.15). Additionally, it has a rev-matching feature that may be turned off.
A BMW or a Toyota Supra?
In case you somehow didn’t know, the new Supra is essentially a BMW Z4 on the inside. It has a BMW drivetrain, interior, and parts. It is propelled by a B58 twin-turbo straight-six engine from BMW.
How quickly can a Supra travel?
The 2022 GR Supra offers two engine choices. A 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC (Dual Overhead Cam) 16-valve engine with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque powers the base model. The 2.0 engine can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. The 2022 GR Supra’s exceptional driving characteristics are aided by an eight-speed automated transmission system that drives the rear wheels. The 2022 GR Supra series is powered by a 3.0-liter Twin-Scroll Single-Turbo Inline 6-Cylinder DOHC 24-valve engine that produces 382 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. The 2022 GR Supra models’ 3.0-liter engines can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
Why is Supra so well-known?
The MkIV Supra is one of the most recognizable automobiles on the planet, even though it takes a different approach from other movie hero vehicles thanks to the franchise’s mysterious, supersonic stardom. A few years ago, the one shown above, which the late Paul Walker used in the first FF movie, sold for many hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The subsequent generation of petrolheads will now look to the new Supra to lust over, given that the franchise shows no indications of slowing down (or even ceasing to make sense). Here is what they will receive:
How many Supras are manual?
Three Supra versions will be available with the manual: the 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and the limited-edition A91-MT. The final variation will only be offered for sale in the US in quantities of 500 during the 2023 model year. It is available in matte white or gray and has a special upholstery made of cognac leather, an Alcantara shifter with the “GR logo, a 12-speaker JBL audio system (which is also standard on the 3.0 Premium), 19-inch alloy wheels, unique red brake calipers, and “Supra badging.
All 2023 Supras, regardless of transmission, come with an updated suspension and power steering system, as well as a new feature called “Hairpin+,” designed to make sharp turns a breeze if you ever find yourself in the middle of a car chase on a winding mountain road. Manual-specific changes include recalibration of the traction- and braking-control systems, as well as adjustments to the shape of the center console made so you don’t bang your hand against the control panel while driving
But the cars with stick shifts are definitely few and far between. Last year, The New York Times reported that just one percent of the cars produced for sale in the US had manual transmissions, compared to 35 percent in 1980. The decline makes sense when you consider that only 18 per cent of the cars produced for sale in the US had manual transmissions in 1980.
The sporty GR86 and the less stylish Corolla (yes, the Corolla) are the other two models Toyota currently offers in the US with the feature. Despite this, Toyota is doing what it can to keep manuals alive. Earlier this year, the company also patented a system for EVs that would simulate the feel of going through the gears with a fake pedal and shifter.
You can order a manual Supra, right?
The four-cylinder variants will use the same eight-speed automatic transmission that comes with all current Supras, but Toyota has confirmed that the 3.0-liter vehicles will also be offered with a manual transmission.
Which Toyota models are manual?
There aren’t many tiny car options with a manual transmission, but the Toyota Corolla is one of them. The Corolla SE, SE Apex Edition, SE and XSE sedans and hatchbacks all come with a six-speed transmission as an option. The GR Corolla hot hatch will likely be another stick-shift Corolla to enter the competition in 2023.
The Toyota GR86 was created in collaboration with Subaru and is the BRZ’s mechanical twin. The GR86 is a 10Best winner and includes a six-speed stick as standard, just like that model.
Volkswagen continues to send us the more powerful Golf GTI and Golf R even though it no longer sells the standard Golf here in the United States. And even better, both still have a six-speed manual transmission available for purchase. The front wheels of the former receive 241 horsepower from the former. The latter has all-wheel drive and 315 horsepower.
Are Supras still produced today?
Naturally, Toyota’s version differs, but this is the key. The straight-six configuration has a long history with Toyota. It would need to be used by the new Supra. However, Toyota no longer manufactures them, and Tetsuya Tada, chief engineer, claims that in order to do so, a completely new engine facility as well as an entirely new engine design would have been required. Not possible. They therefore required a partner, and the only real choice for straight sixes is BMW.
The Toyota and BMW teams then collaborated to develop their concepts into a prototype that was built around the Fullrunner 2 Series coupe with a reduced wheelbase. The boards of BMW and Toyota, after being transported to Japan, powered this. The two teams split out and independently developed their automobiles after receiving the go-ahead. Tada-san only drove a Z4 in the final stages of development.
enough of the history. There is no denying that the Supra looks better than the Z4. It has good proportions, is sensuous, and you can clearly see the driven wheels and the location of the engine. But move closer. Check out the vents under the headlights and taillights, on the doors, and on the bonnet. They’re phony. they are all.
Toyota modified the BMW B58 single turbo 3.0-liter straight six engine under the hood, although it still produces the same power output as the Z4 M40i (335 bhp and 369 lb-ft of torque). Initially, only an eight-speed automatic transmission was used to send this to the rear wheels, and 0-60 mph took 4.3 seconds.
Toyota claims that, starting in the middle of 2022, a manual transmission will be available for 2,000 less. With the manual transmission, Toyota had to slightly rearrange the center console’s structure and head to ZF with a list of gearbox components in order to assemble a new transmission that could handle the lusty engine’s torque. Additionally, GR experimented with three different gearknob weights before deciding that a 200-gramme item provided the best shift quality. Stupid, huh?
Toyota: Will There Be a 2023 Supra?
The starting price of the 2023 Toyota Supra with the new six-speed manual transmission is $53,595, which is the same as the automatic version. The A91-MT special model, which is exclusively available in manual transmission, costs $59,440 and has a brown leather inside.
The Supra isn’t a supercar.
In road tests, the twin turbo Supra defeated both the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Aston Martin DB7 for a tenth of the cost, making it a genuine supercar killer.
Is the Supra trustworthy?
Is the 2020 Toyota Supra Reliable? The estimated reliability rating for the 2020 Toyota Supra is 73 out of 100. A predicted reliability score from J.D. Power of 91 to 100 is regarded as the best, 81 to 90 as great, 70 to 80 as medium, and 0-69 as fair and below average.
Does the 2021 Supra warrant purchase?
All Supra variants have an eight-speed automatic transmission, and only rear-wheel drive is available. Our long-term 2020 Supra 3.0 set some very outstanding acceleration records at the test track, going from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and from 0 to 100 mph in 9.5. That puts it up against the Chevrolet Camaro, the Porsche Cayman GTS, and the BMW M2 Competition in the big leagues. In fact, it accelerates more quickly than the renowned fourth-generation Supra, which had an inline-six engine with 320 horsepower that was sequentially turbocharged. It’s unfortunate that a manual transmission is not offered, but there is still some hope since there are rumors that the Supra may eventually have a stick. The Supra’s suspension is accommodating enough to drive on a daily basis despite its performance capability. Its accurate, finely weighted, and direct steering adds to its fun-to-drive appeal. The new, less expensive four-cylinder variant ran from zero to sixty miles per hour in 4.7 seconds at our test track. That beats the BMW Z4, the Supra’s German cousin, which managed a time of 5.0 seconds from 0 to 60 mph.
Which Toyota vehicle is the fastest?
Toyota now makes the fastest automobile, the GR Supra. In order to match its performance and power, it also sports the most obnoxious and athletic exterior design yet.
Which car is the fastest in the world?
In February 2014, the Hennessey Venom GT unofficially set the world record for the fastest car by reaching a speed of 270.49 mph (435.3 km/h). The claim that the car couldn’t be tested in both directions due to administrative issues means that the record is still unofficial. The vehicle is currently the fastest production automobile in the world, and it is clear that this vehicle is a true super car. The Hennessey Venom GT costs about $1.2 million and has a V8 twin turbo engine. The UK firm revealed that 11 of the anticipated 29 Hennessey vehicles had already been sold in December of last year.
Amount of Supra MK4 production?
Despite being the quickest and arguably most beautiful Supra model of its time, the MK4 was strangely the least popular, which led to the end of era-specific Supra manufacture. Due to its high price and the rising popularity of trucks and SUVs, the MK4 saw its best sales results in the first year of production before embarking on a depressing downward sales trend.
Sales had plunged to 337 units in 2002 from a high of 15,901 units in 1993, ultimately ending the MK4’s manufacture.
