Subaru’s Gunma assembly factory is where the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ, two 2+2 sports cars jointly developed by Subaru and Toyota, are built. [1]

Toyota, does it still offer the 86?
It sounds like the distinctions between the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ will still be in the features and tuning of the suspension. When we first announced the winners of our Best of 2013 awards, we couldn’t get heated seats in the Scion FR-S, so we bought a BRZ instead. While we wait for additional information on their packaging, Toyota claims that the BRZ and 86 have “unique driving feels” that set them apart. Their selections of convenience features, however, have become increasingly comparable in recent years.
There are a lot of similarities between the two newly revised models, including the fact that the 86 will now include advanced safety features that the BRZ and 86 lacked, such as forward collision warning on the pair’s automatic variants, which will employ Subaru’s EyeSight system. We anticipate the 2022 Toyota 86 will go on sale in the United States around the same time as the new BRZ, which goes on sale early in the fall.

Even if a new one is set to arrive, demand and waiting lists have remained high throughout that time. 2018 has thus far found a home.
No, there was no misprint; as of the end of April, the sales figures completely matched the year. The new, more expensive model is expected to arrive later this year, so it will be fascinating to watch how the Mustang holds up.
Will Toyota no longer produce the GT86?

However, the BRZ has Subaru’s Everything Taken Care of (ETCo) package as standard equipment, same like all of its other models. A monthly wash, winter wheel and tyre storage, and free minor bodywork and alloy wheel repairs are all included.

Is a GT86 worth the money?
The GT86 has proven to be a fun, nimble, and useful daily driver. I wouldn’t say it’s superior to the Porsche, but it offers fantastic value and has, thus far, been very reliable.

Does the Scion FR-S resemble the Toyota GT86?
Toyota announced in February that Scion, its youth-focused brand, would close its doors permanently in August, taking with it 13 years of outrageous and bizarre vehicles. The Scion FR-S, which will continue to be a part of Toyota’s lineup, is being renamed the Toyota 86, which is the name the automaker uses for this model all over the world. But how do the Toyota 86 and the Scion FR-S vary from one another?
The 2.0-liter flat-four engine that powers both vehicles is essentially the same. Toyota, however, has adjusted the gear ratio on manual vehicles, bringing the total horsepower up by 5 to 205 hp. Additionally, the 2017 Toyota 86 receives certain cosmetic improvements, including a bigger front grille, a revised bumper, and LED turn signals. The renovations inside continue with new “Grandlux soft-touch material” covering the instrument panel surround and door trimmings. The 86’s seats now have silver stitching and are upholstered in a new material as well. To top it off, the Toyota 86 has larger paddle shifters for automatic variants and a redesigned sport steering wheel with radio controls.
This fall, Toyota will make the 2017 86 available for purchase in the US and Canadian markets. The twin of the FR-S/86, the Subaru BRZ, is said to get a makeover at some point after the 86’s arrival. Subaru has not yet confirmed this rumor.
The iA (Yaris iA) and the iM, two additional current Scion models, will join the 86 in Toyota’s range (Corolla iM). To compete in this burgeoning market, Toyota will expand its already overly extensive lineup for 2018 by including the CH-R small crossover. While earlier versions will undoubtedly continue to be seen on our roads for years to come, vehicles like the Scion tC and xB will no longer be produced.

Through the release of a GT-86/BRZ in Japan that has been stripped down to its bare essentials, Toyota and Subaru are honoring motoring enthusiasts. Purist refers to the lack of things that racers would be least interested in having on their cars, potentially enhancing performance while cutting the price.
The purist package, known as RA and RC, respectively, receives an interior without air conditioning, stereo/speakers, cup holders, door lamps, leather wrapped steering wheel; hand brake and shift knob, aluminum pedals, decorative silver trim inside, stainless sill plates, and no trunk lamp; trim or matt. It will be available in Japan starting in March for a base price of 2,058,000 yen ($26,490 / 16,750) for the BRZ and 1,990,000 y
The majority of want tobe purists will draw the line on the outside, where Subaru/Toyota really demonstrates how far they are prepared to go to show that the RA/RC package is designed for true driving aficionados. Toyota offers unpainted flat black door handles, side mirror housings, front and rear bumpers (painted on BRZ). Fog lamps, fold-down side mirrors, and a rear spoiler are all no longer present. However, Toyota replaces the fancy 17-inch alloy wheels with genuine sleeper wheels, 16-inch steel wheels with 205/55R tires, as the last and most significant deletion.
Not a lot has been taken away for mechanicals. The plastic engine cover that sits on top of the intake manifold has been removed, in addition to the absence of the air conditioning compressor to drag on the engine. All corners measure 15 inches in diameter, which is slightly less than the 16-inch front discs offered on the higher R and S spec vehicles. Ventilated brake disks are removed from the rear brakes. The removal of the torsen (torque sensitive) rear differential in favor of a mechanical diff, as Chris Harris previously noted, is the biggest change.
Not only is the purest package 40 kg (88 lbs) lighter, but the price tag is also quite pure. The base BRZ is priced at 24,995 in the UK, which is about 8,795 more than the purist in Japan if you compare straight in-market values at the current exchange rate. Pricing has not yet been revealed for the U.S.
Although it is unknown whether the RC and RA purist trim kits will be sold abroad, don’t bank on it.
