How To Change Toyota Corolla License Plate Light

One of the longest production runs of any automobile model is the Corolla, which has been a part of Toyota’s portfolio since 1968. Check the fuse before replacing a broken license plate light. Under the trim panel in the trunk, be cautious of sharp edges.

Step 1

Find the clips holding the inside trim panel in place by opening the trunk. By giving each clip’s center a quarter turn with the Phillips screwdriver, you can remove it by popping it out with the trim tool. Trim panel should be set aside.

Step 3

A quarter turn in the other direction will release the bulb socket from the assembly. Install the new bulb after removing the old one from the socket. Reinstall the socket into the assembly, then lock it in place by turning the socket a quarter turn in the clockwise direction.

Line up the claw and push in until you hear it click to reinstall the light assembly into the trunk. Install the inside trim panel after plugging in the electrical connector. To tighten the clips, push the center of the clips in from the outside.

Do the lights on the license plate turn on automatically?

When the headlights, either the main headlights or the parking light, are turned on, the license plate light is expected to come on as well. The solid light that illuminates the license plate can only be turned on or off. The license plate light will, however, frequently flicker. A loose cable or connection that supplies power to the license plate light is frequently the blame for this. Because a flickering light can be so distracting to other drivers on the road, this symptom can be quite dangerous. Additionally, it will get the police’s attention and probably lead to a “repair it ticket.”

To prevent this, it’s a good idea to go for a brief stroll once a week before taking a nighttime drive. Simply switch on your headlights, circle back to the back of your car, and check that the license plate light is brightly lit. It’s a good idea to get in touch with a nearby mechanic if it flickers so they can figure out what’s wrong and fix it as soon as possible.
