Remove the metal drain cap using a 3/8″ ratchet with a 3″ or 6″ extension. As you remove it, a minor amount of oil can seep out.
The threaded port that was made visible by removing the plug is where the oil drain tool should be inserted. Put your oil drain pan or container into the drain hose’s end.
To engage the spring-loaded valve inside the oil filter housing, tighten the tool’s knurled section.
Remove the tool after draining the housing, then replace the metal drain valve stopper.
With the MX2320 oil filter wrench, remove the oil filter by using a 27mm socket and a 3/8″ drive ratchet. The indexing tabs on the side of the filter should be lined up with the wrench.
You might need to use a breaker bar with the 27mm socket to remove the housing because they can be VERY TIGHT.
Once the filter breaks loose, manually spin it off. Use a rag or several paper towels to clean the surface of the housing.
Once everything has been cleared away, Motivx Pro Tip: Remove the drain pan and set it to the side to prevent spills and trip hazards.
Change both the sizable o-ring at the base of the filter cap threads and the paper filter cartridge.
Put a strong grip on the oil filter by hand-tightening it. Once it is snug, you can check with the oil filter wrench, but take great care not to overtighten the housing. Before reinstalling the filter housing, there is no need to add any oil.
Before reinstalling the metal drain cap and tightening it with the 3/8″ drive ratchet to a snug fit, replace the little o-ring.
