The entry step and the handy grasp bar by the sliding door are the first things I see when I open the doors. It’s really welcomed because without it, boarding and boarding would have been tough for my elderly passengers.
The van is large, but how spacious it is ultimately relies largely on how many passengers you have and how you arrange the seats. As the seats still fold away upwards and to the sides, rather than in a more logical and practical way, the last row also lacks adaptability. This configuration also prevents the cargo compartment from being used to its full potential, especially for taller things.
It feels wonderful to sit in the seats. Each of the four captain’s seats has a soft feel to it and provides adequate support and room. The butterfly headrests in the second row, though, are a godsend when trying to fall asleep when traveling on less-than-ideal conditions, so I’d actually prefer to be in that position.
Additional items to note? There are enough USB outlets and A/C vents for everyone, as well as nice inside lighting and pull-up blinds for all four passenger windows. The faux-wood trim is passable. The Hiace Super Grandia Elite is unquestionably one of the greatest interior experiences I’ve experienced in a van, despite another complaint that some of the controls up front aren’t up to the overall cabin quality.
