The first Toyota manufacturing facility in the US to be entirely owned was Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc., which was founded in 1986. The factory currently focuses on producing SUVs like the Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna. Up to 299,820 automobiles might have been produced at the plant in 2013.
The TMMMS, which is based in Blue Springs, Mississippi, was initially intended to produce the Toyota Highlander in 2010. Unfortunately, the automaker chose to shift the Indiana plant’s manufacturing there. The plant was inaugurated in 2011 to create the best-selling Corolla. The plant was able to produce 158,647 automobiles in 2013 alone.

Toyota Tacoma
The well-liked (but aged) Toyota Tacoma is available with two different engines, two different transmissions, and a range of body styles. Additionally, there is a trim level for every circumstance or requirement, with the powerful TRD Pro at the top of the list. The Toyota Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 pounds when properly equipped.
It should be noted that some Tacomas are produced for the 2021 model year in Mexico and some are produced at the same San Antonio, Texas, plant that produces the bigger Tundra. 55 percent of the parts used in the trucks made at both sites are from North America.
Ford Ranger
Ford’s midsize pickup for 2021 is called the Ranger. It borrows some design cues from the well-known F-150 but is descended from the international Ranger offered elsewhere. A 2.3-liter inline-four turbocharged engine with 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque is the basic powerplant. The engine is coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
It was the most American vehicle last year, topping the lists with 70 percent of its parts coming from American and Canadian vendors, in part because its engine was made here, but that percentage fell to 45 percent in 2021. Even lower than the 2019 number of 50% American parts content.
GMC Sierra
The GMC Sierra follows the Chevy Silverado in most areas. The Sierra differentiates apart because to a few unique GMC-only features and distinctive design, albeit it shares many of the same basic components as the Silverado.
The Sierra and Silverado are identical in terms of Kogod rankings, just like the other twins on the list. The 46 percent North American component composition of the GM trucks places them just behind the middle of the group.
Chevrolet Silverado
The Silverado can tow 13,300 pounds when properly equipped. Although it may not be the most American vehicle, we can’t knock its wide range of engine choices or its solid reputation for reliability.
The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, which is due for a facelift in 2022, has suffered slightly in our comparisons with other trucks in its segment as a result of its divisive exterior styling and subpar interior feel.
Toyota Tundra
Considering that the 2021 Tundra had been on the market for 14 years, Toyota did a fantastic job of maintaining its relative freshness. Its age was evident in several areas, particularly the interior, but it was nonetheless equipped with contemporary safety equipment and a (barely) competitive 5.7-liter V-8 engine. Naturally, the brand-new 2022 Tundra changed all of that.
The full-size Tundra, like its smaller 2021 Tacoma brother, is produced in San Antonio, Texas. Its flagship product is the TRD Pro. The Tundra actually outperforms the Big 3 in this particular category, with 65 percent of its parts coming from American and Canadian sources.
Ram 1500 Classic
Yes, Ram continues to sell its old 1500 truck, which was replaced by the new 1500 for the 2018 model year. The Ram 1500 “Classic” has three trim levels: Tradesman, Express, and Warlock. It is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and either a 3.6- or 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi engine.
The 1500 Classic Tradesman starts at $29,490 for buyers who desire a new truck but are on a tight budget. We believe this is more about desire for a less expensive full-size truck and less about leftover, last-gen 1500 parts because it will continue into 2022 for a fourth model year.
Honda Ridgeline
You wouldn’t be wrong if you said the Honda Ridgeline is a pickup version of the three-row Pilot SUV. The Ridgeline’s unibody construction makes it stand out from other trucks while also giving it carlike manners and a ton of cutting-edge features, such as an under-bed lockable “trunk,” a tailgate that flips down or swings out, a flip-up rear seat that makes room for tall items, and a special Truck Bed Audio System for tailgate parties and other events.
The plant in Alabama where the Ridgeline is produced also produces the Pilot and Passport, all of which are related to the unibody truck. Its 70 percent North American parts content is the greatest of any truck on this list, but it receives a minor penalty because some revenues do go to Japan even though Honda has a sizable American presence.
Ford F-150
Along with a wide range of trim levels, the Ford F-150 offers intriguing powertrain options, an aluminum body, and remarkable performance figures. In our full-size truck rankings, this truck is rated second and is a good truck.
The most popular Ford F-150, though, is what may be considered more American. Well, the Kogod analysis says that GM’s two midsize trucks. Only 55% of the truck is made in North America, but Ford is clearly well-established there, which accounts for the reasonably high ranking despite the lack of parts availability.
GMC Canyon (Gas)
The best thing about the Chevy The GMC Canyon also applies to Colorado. Although it has the same technical components as the Chevy, it has unique features and aesthetics. It has a more premium interior and is slightly more squared off than its Colorado counterpart.
The Canyon shares a spot on the list with the Chevy Colorado, according to Kogod’s rankings, and has 60 percent North American parts content, thanks to local manufacture and a robust local supplier network.
Chevrolet Colorado (Gas)
The Colorado is by far the most American truck on our list. Whether you love it or detest it, you can be sure that the Kogod rating will probably change when model year 2022 rolls around.
