The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser is Apple CarPlay compatible.
Toyota’s recognizable 4×4 has been traversing countries from Arizona to Zimbabwe and from Iceland to Tierra del Fuego for the past 60 years. The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser continues the legacy of its illustrious predecessors by offering exceptional off-road capability, ample interior space, an abundance of feature content (it does cost a pretty penny for a Toyota, after all), and the ironclad reliability reputation that those predecessors worked so hard to establish. Although it is a unique sort of vehicle, people looking to move their families around town may find large luxury crossovers to be a more enticing option because to their superior handling, better fuel efficiency, and improved cabin. However, it’s difficult to find a better vehicle for a family to travel through tundra, woodlands, deserts, canyons, and the Serengeti than this legend.
Although the Land Cruiser name celebrates 60 in 2020, the present model only turns 13which, in the world of vehicles and trucks, is an eternity. There have been numerous modifications over the years, but none for 2020. This year instead offers the unique Heritage Edition. The Heritage Edition comes with exclusive exterior paint options, bronze 18-inch BBS wheels, darkened exterior trim, a Yakima Megawarrior roof rack, special bronze interior details, all-weather mats, and vintage Land Cruiser exterior badging. It is only available as a two-row, five-passenger version (every other Land Cruiser has three rows and eight seats). It’s quite polished.
With the exception of the Heritage Edition, the 2020 Land Cruiser is essentially universal. Although Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included, unlike the majority of other Toyotas for 2020, it is completely stocked with high-end luxury amenities and technology. But it does have a distinctive 9-inch touchscreen. The only choice is a system for the backseat. The Heritage Edition Land Cruiser is unquestionably the most appealing this year. However, it is not offered with three rows of chairs. That might be an issue for some, but keep in mind that the third row is not particularly roomy and that the fact that it folds up against the walls of the cargo compartment rather than into the floor lowers the amount of space that can be used for cargo.
A 5.7-liter V8 engine producing 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque provides the power. That’s plenty, but the bulky Land Cruiser isn’t exactly agile. 15 mpg combined is a pitiful amount of fuel economy.

Is CarPlay available on the 2016 Land Cruiser?
- a new stop-start 2.8-liter engine that increases both power and economy for the Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser Commercial models.
- A four-cylinder turbodiesel engine makes 500Nm of torque and 201 horsepower.
- Reduced 0-62 mph acceleration time to under 10 seconds*
- All versions come equipped with a multimedia upgrade that includes smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- The Pre-Collision System now includes the ability to identify pedestrians and cyclists (during the day), in addition to sophisticated Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Trace Assist.
- updated two-grade passenger line-up
- Lively and Unstoppable
- The Land Cruiser Invincible now has a Black Pack option with all-black body style components.
- available now, with customer deliveries beginning in October
A new and efficient 2.8-liter engine is the first in a series of performance and equipment enhancements for both the passenger and commercial versions of Toyota’s massive Land Cruiser, giving it even more power.
With a maximum output of 201 bhp/150 kW at 3,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 500 Nm at 1,600 rpm*, the new four-cylinder turbodiesel engine gives the renowned Land Cruiser a ton of more power. A 2.8-second decrease in the duration from 0 to 62 mph to less than 10 seconds* reflects the increases of 27 horsepower and 50 Nm over the previous engine.
There are no negative effects on fuel economy or CO2 emissions from this added strength. Fuel consumption is actually marginally better with the benefit of a stop-start function as standard.
Compared to the current Land Cruiser, the engine qualifies for a lower Vehicle Excise Duty chargedown of 325 in the first year since it complies with the UK’s RDE2 (Real Driving Emissions) standard.
According to client preferences, there are now two equipment tiers available for the Land Cruiser lineup.
The Active grade, which comes in three- and five-door configurations and with five or seven seats, is the new starting point for the range.
Along with an upgraded multimedia system, the specification now includes wireless smartphone connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features. An eight-inch touchscreen is used to operate this, which has quicker software and command response and a customizable home screen that allows users to prioritize their most often used features.
17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control air conditioning, smart entry and push-button start, roof rails, and heated power door mirrors are examples of amenities that are standard on the Active grade.
The seven-seat Invincible, which is available at the top of the line, also adopts the smartphone connectivity package and now comes with an optional Black Pack. Customers who choose black leather upholstery also have the option of specifying an exterior that is all black, including the front grille, door mirror frames, rear light surrounds, side mouldings, and rear garnish, as well as clear lenses for the rear light clusters. The transmission tunnel and center console are finished in black, continuing the theme inside the cabin. Additionally, black alloy wheels are an option that can be chosen.
The Invincible has a thorough, high-quality specification that includes equipment to meet the demands of various off-road situations. The technologically sophisticated suite of control features includes Multi-Terrain Select, a rear differential lock, a center Torsen limited-slip differential, Crawl Control, and Adaptive Variable Suspension with electronically regulated rear air suspension.
The Land Cruiser Invincible is equipped with a variety of comfort and convenience features in addition to its ability to handle difficult conditions, such as triple-zone climate control, power steering column and front seat adjustments, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second row seats, leather upholstery, multi-view monitor, 14-speaker JBL Synthesis premium audio system, LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, and illuminated side steps.
Toyota Safety Sense, which includes system updates and new features, is a standard feature of the Land Cruiser Invincible. The Pre-Collision System acquires the capacity to recognize bikes and pedestrians when driving in daylight. The addition of Lane Trace Assist offers automatic help to keep the car positioned inside its traffic lane, and the sophisticated Adaptive Cruise Control enhances safety while easing the burden on the driver.
The short and long wheelbase models (three and five doors) in Utility and Active trims of the Land Cruiser Commercial are still available. The new engine is used by each of them, and the Active grade adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new Land Cruiser line is currently available for purchase, with the first passenger model deliveries beginning in October and the commercial variants following later in the fall. Toyota offers a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty on all new cars.
Is Apple CarPlay available on the 2019 Land Cruiser?
Before today, it was unclear whether the storied Toyota Land Cruiser would survive into 2021. Well, at least here in the US. Fortunately, Toyota has some good news to share with devotees of this classic rock crawler. At least one more model year of the Toyota Land Cruiser will be produced, and the Heritage Edition will also continue to be produced.
Additionally, the classic body-on-frame SUV has mostly not changed. The Heritage Edition now has the option of a third row of seats, and two new exterior colors, Classic Silver Metallic and Magnetic Gray Metallic, join Midnight Black Metallic and Blizzard Pearl, as the only real changes for 2021. All Heritage Edition vehicles are equipped with a set of stylish 18-inch BBS-sourced wheels that are model-specific.
The same 5.7-liter V-8 engine from before powers this enormous SUV, producing 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque once more. The Land Cruiser’s hydraulically adjustable sway bars, hill-descent control, multi-terrain select, and the lockable Torsen center differential are all still in place and ready to carry you wherever you need to go.
Additionally, the Land Cruiser has blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlamps, and lane-departure warning (among a few other goodies). Even if Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are still not compatible with the Land Cruiser, it does have a 14-speaker JBL sound system and a wireless charging station for smartphones.
For 2021, Land Cruiser and Heritage Edition costs increase by $100. The Heritage Edition now costs $89,170, while the regular Land Cruiser costs $86,84o. To add a third row to the latter trim, be prepared to pay a little bit extra.
