Display of New Automated Valet Parking System by Hyundai and Kia
The new Automated Valet Parking System (AVPS) that Hyundai and Kia are jointly developing is described in an animated movie that was recently produced by the two automakers. EV wireless charging and autonomous driving are two different technologies that will be combined in the system now under development.
The Korean manufacturers’ justification for fusing the two technologies is straightforward: as EV sales rise, it is anticipated that parking lots and charging stations would get more crowded.
Vehicles will be automatically directed by the new system to the closest wireless charging station that is open. After a vehicle is fully charged, the system will relocate it automatically to the closest available parking place, which helps relieve congestion by allowing charging stations to become available more rapidly.
How does everything work? Starting with the driver, their EV, the charging system, and the parking facility, constant communication is needed. The latter will monitor all available parking spaces in real time and inform the driver of them, while the charging system monitors each EV’s charging progress.
Unsurprisingly, the AVPS system is still in its infancy, and before it can function, Level 4 autonomous vehicle deployment on a large scale will be necessary. By 2025, Hyundai and Kia hope to make the system operational in a few markets.
The carmaker estimates that by 2021, they will start selling self-driving cars in a few key markets. 2030 is the anticipated year for completely autonomous vehicles.

TL;DR: There shouldn’t be a problem with valet parking, but you might want to find out whether the valet has ever driven one. If not, briefly list a few items they will require.
Today’s valets are used to the various unique methods automakers have developed to start, drive, stop, park, and lock the majority of vehicles. Additionally, this entails activating HVAC systems, opening doors to enter and exit, and, if necessary, the wipers. It comes down to being able to rapidly locate the proper levers, buttons, switches, and dials while getting into an automobile.
With Tesla, everything was different. Since the majority of the customary functionality are implemented in software, that vehicle has essentially no typical hard controls. Typically, it takes some training to “discover” the proper control in a Tesla. For instance, your door cannot be opened by a lever (well, there is for the front doors, but for emergency use only). The door locks with a little, unmarked button that you push, opening it at the same time. You must have the keycard and place it in an unauthorized location near the cup holders in order to operate the vehicle. The engine starts and stops on its own; you do not need to do either. With the right stalk, it’s quite simple to shift into R or D, but P involves hitting the button at the end of that stalk. Additionally, when the driver door is opened and you lift your weight from the seat, the car automatically shifts into P. The windshield wipers are quickly swiped by pressing the button at the end of the other stalk, the turn signal stalk, and a display screen option for continuous wiping speeds is activated. Only the touchscreen menus can be used to operate the HVAC.
If the car can understand you and you’re in a region with reliable cellular connection, you may also use voice commands to operate several of the aforementioned features, such as the HVAC system, wipers, etc. This probably won’t work if your valet parking is on the ground floor of a structure or parking garage.
My point is that it is quite improbable that valets (or anyone else) getting their first drive in a Tesla will be able to do their duties. Everything is fine once they are shown how to do anything. Because of this, I advise you to ask the valet if this is their first time operating an Ioniq5, and if it is, offer them a brief training session that lasts no longer than 30 seconds. Teslas are more widespread today, but valet turnover is considerable, so replacements might not have the same background.
A “short guide for valets” that I put in the car that goes through the fundamentals with images from the owner’s manual is another thing I’ve made and laminated. It has worked out well.
Given its more conventional interior, the Ioniq5 probably doesn’t require any of this. The moment I receive one, my feelings can change.

Guys, after reading the post on the new update, you probably expected this coming. new problem! After contacting for an hour, Bluelink still did not assist me and had no idea what valet mode was. Post any answers you may have here, please! Please let us know if this is working for you.
It’s unfortunate that Hyundai does not pay attention to customer complaints and resolve the issues. No, they must go and offer something that hardly nobody wants or needs. When will kids start paying attention and understanding?
Is there a valet mode on a Hyundai?
The Bluelink Remote package includes a number of features called “Vehicle Safeguard Alerts” that you may choose to enable so that you can get alerts when your car goes beyond preset boundaries like a speed limit, a distance, or a curfew. These features keep you updated about your car and provide you peace of mind that your car and everyone inside it are safe and secure, making them perfect for parents of young drivers.
You may need to download the Vehicle Safeguard App to your vehicle in order to use the Vehicle Safeguard Alerts, and you will need a current membership to the Bluelink Remote Package. On the Bluelink page of your MyHyundai owners account, you can monitor and set all of your alerts. You may select to get notifications for each alarm by text, email, or the MyHyundai app.
You can instruct the Valet Alert to alert you each time you drop off your Hyundai with a valet driver if it goes beyond the predetermined distance. The permitted distance is measured from the spot when the alert was raised. You can turn on this alert from your vehicle, the MyHyundai app, or your MyHyundai account.
You can use this function to define the boundaries between regions where your car is permitted to drive and those where it is not. If your car enters or leaves a prohibited location, you will be informed. You must configure this function in your MyHyundai account.
You can pre-set a speed limit for your car with this option. If your car violates this speed restriction, you will be informed. You may configure and modify this alert from your MyHyundai account.
You can use this tool to set the times when your Hyundai vehicle can and cannot be driven. Should these curfews be violated, you will be informed. Your MyHyundai account has settings for and management of this alert.

When the car is in valet mode, what happens?
The valet switch makes it unnecessary for you to provide your transmitter to parking attendants or garage personnel by momentarily disabling all alarm functionalities. All alarm features are disregarded when the system is in valet mode, but the remote panic feature and remote door locks are still functional. The system must first be disarmed before the valet mode can be used. You can do this by using the key chain transmitter or by turning on your unique manual override code.
- Turn the ignition key to the on position before getting inside the car.
- Turn the valet switch to the off position or press and hold the valet pushbutton switch. The valet mode of the system will not be changed.
- Make sure the ignition is turned to the on position, depress and release the pushbutton switch, or turn the valet switch to the on position to resume regular operation.
NOTE: Never forget to switch off valet mode. This will guarantee that the car is always kept safe.

Since 2014, Chevrolet has offered the Corvette in valet mode. A Corvette owner can enable valet mode before handing over the keys by going to the settings menu and entering a 4-digit code. To safeguard the owner’s privacy, this will electronically lock the center console and glove box and turn off the audio and infotainment system. Thanks to the Corvette’s performance data system, which was created to assess and fine-tune on-track performance, valet mode even goes one step further and is capable of recording HD footage of the driver as well as everything the valet driver does. You can inspect the RPM, speed, shift patterns, and g-forces your (un)lucky valet generated when you get your car back.

Describe a valet key.
There are many types of valet keys, but they all basically function as the extra key that comes with the car. Brands with valet keys include BMW and Audi. Many sports cars also have valet keys with clever technology. The key is mostly meant to be given to valets so they can park people’s cars or repair shops so they may use them. The valet key will start the vehicle and open the door, but it won’t allow access to the glove box or trunk.
