Who Owns Erhard BMW?

On December 13, 2021, Penske Automotive Group Inc. acquired Bloomfield Hills, Michigan’s Erhard BMW of Bloomfield.

In its home city of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Penske Automotive Group Inc. has purchased a BMW dealership, marking the auto retailer’s return to dealership ownership in the state of Michigan.

Penske announced on Monday that it has acquired Erhard BMW of Bloomfield, adding an anticipated $100 million in yearly income. The Dahm family was the proprietors of the dealership. Terms were not made public, but BMW of Bloomfield Hills is now the name of the shop.

Penske President Rob Kurnick stated in a statement on Tuesday that “our dealership has a long tradition of serving BMW aficionados in the metropolitan Detroit region for over 50 years.” We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership and presence with the BMW brand.

The purchase of Erhard BMW of Farmington Hills and Jaguar-Land Rover of Farmington Hills, both from the Dahm family, by Fox Motors of Grand Rapids, Mich., also occurred on Monday. There was no disclosure of the transaction’s terms. While the Jaguar-Land Rover store’s name remains the same, the BMW store’s name has been changed to BMW of Farmington Hills.

It’s Fox Motors’ first Jaguar-Land Rover dealership and their second BMW shop.

Fox Motors CEO Daniel DeVos said in a statement, “My family and I have always enjoyed the Jaguar and Land Rover portfolio and welcomed the opportunity to introduce the renowned luxury brands to Fox Motors.” After adding Ann Arbor in 2017, expanding our BMW footprint and entering the metro Detroit community is a logical move that we are excited about. We are constantly seeking for growth opportunities.

Fox Motors is to relocate the Jaguar-Land Rover dealership this summer to a brand-new building in nearby Novi, Michigan, which is now being built. It will be twice as big and have two outdoor pedestrian plazas, 24 showroom displays, and 30 service bays.

Erhard and Gretchen Dahm started the World of Erhard company and a BMW dealership in 1964. Later, the couple’s kids joined the family company.

Erhard President Win Dahm issued a statement saying, “On behalf of the Dahm family, we wish to thank our community and the Erhard staff for your many years of commitment.” “Because they understood the value of relationships with people, our parents developed a successful business. For our family, it has been a wonderful journey.”

Since selling its final two suburban Detroit businesses—a Cadillac store in Warren and a Honda dealership in Bloomfield Hills—Penske hasn’t operated a dealership there.

This dealership, according to Penske, is the 48th BMW facility nationwide. This year, Penske also added franchised car and truck dealerships, which it anticipates will bring in $1.2 billion in sales annually. Its acquisition of a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Pineville, North Carolina, in June is included in that sum.

Fox Motors, which sold 12,517 new vehicles last year, is ranked No. 75 on the same list.

Erhard BMW of Bloomfield is acquired by the Penske Automotive Group

The dealership Erhard BMW of Bloomfield, which is also located in Bloomfield Township, has been acquired by Penske Automotive Group Inc., a company with its corporate headquarters there.

The deal’s financial details were not made public, but Penske estimates that the dealership will bring in about $100 million a year.

Erhard Dahm established the Erhard BMW store in 1965, making it Penske’s 48th BMW dealership globally. North of Square Lake Road on Telegraph Road is where you may find it.

According to Rob Kurnick, president of Penske Automotive, “This dealership has a solid history of serving BMW aficionados in the metropolitan Detroit region for more than 50 years.” We are delighted to welcome Erhard BMW of Bloomfield, the biggest BMW dealership in Michigan, to the Penske Automotive Group team and to strengthen our presence and connection with the BMW brand.

The completion of retail automotive and commercial truck dealership acquisitions has already added $1.2 billion to Penske Automotive Group’s anticipated annualized income for 2021.

From his beginnings in gas and repair shops, Erhard Dahm, who immigrated from Germany in 1958, created a family company.

The building that now houses Erhard BMW of Bloomfield Hills was once filled with bowling balls and the aroma of Chinese food. It is now filled with sparkling new automobiles and the scent of bespoke leather.

Before Erhard Dahm, a well-known local, bought the structure in 1987 and converted it into a dealership, the site housed a bowling alley next to a Chinese restaurant.

Dahm ran Bloomfield Hills’ Erhard BMW till he retired nearly ten years ago. The company has since been taken up by his daughters, Angie Dahm-Hovey and Winfred Dahm, together with a silent partner.

Same World Class Service, New Ownership

Erhard BMW transforms into BMW of Bloomfield Hills, currently owned and run by the Penske Automotive Group, after successfully servicing the Bloomfield Hills neighborhood and beyond for many years. Penske will keep providing top-notch customer service from the same outstanding employees as before. The purchase of the dealership in Bloomfield Hills makes it the 15th Penske BMW dealership in the United States and the 48th BMW dealership overall to join the Penske Automotive Group. The automotive group owns almost 400 dealerships in total.

“For more than 50 years, this dealership has provided support to BMW fans in the greater Detroit area. Erhard BMW of Bloomfield, the largest BMW dealership in Michigan, has joined the Penske Automotive Group team, and we couldn’t be happier to increase our presence and relationship with the BMW brand “President Rob Kurnick adds.

Fox Motors extends to metro Detroit with the purchase of two Erhard dealerships

By acquiring two long-standing Farmington Hills-based dealerships, Fox Motors has established a presence in the metro Detroit market.

The parent firm DP Fox Ventures LLC, which owns the auto dealer based in Grand Rapids, stated today that it has bought Erhard BMW and Jaguar Land Rover Farmington Hills.

World of Erhard, which was founded in 1964 by Erhard and Gretchen Dahm and created the first special BMW dealership in the nation, was acquired by both dealerships.

The dealership will continue to be known as Jaguar Land Rover Farmington Hills, but Fox Motors is now building a new 58,663-square-foot facility in Novi that will house the business in the future by the summer of 2022. Just one mile separates the old facility from the modern one.

Olesnavage predicted that it will be the largest in the nation when it opened in roughly six months. We are quite eager to do that.

With the addition of 47 new automobile and power sport companies, Fox Motors’ portfolio gains strength in the premium car category. Fox will include Jaguar and Land Rover in its portfolio for the first time. The Fox dealership in Traverse City is the other; the BMW dealership is Fox’s second.

According to Olesnavage, “I think generally speaking, BMW and Jaguar Land Rover make a terrific product, and their customers are quite loyal to that product.” “We’re thrilled to be able to keep supplying it to Farmington Hills, them, and the greater Detroit area. Both the automobiles and the customer base are fantastic to work with.”

With the addition of 100 World of Erhard employees as a result of the transaction, Fox Motors now employs 1,600 people across 34 locations in Michigan and Illinois.

Fox Motors makes its most recent acquisition as it enters metro Detroit

Two Farmington Hills auto and powersports dealerships were bought by a Grand Rapids-based company.

Fox Motors announced on Monday, December 13, that it had bought Erhard BMW and Jaguar Land Rover Farmington Hills from World of Erhard. This acquisition marked the first time Fox Motors had expanded its presence into the metro Detroit area.

BMW of Farmington Hills is the new name for Erhard BMW, which is located at 38700 Grand River Avenue. Jaguar Land Rover Farmington Hills, which is located at 38200 Grand River Avenue, will continue to operate under its previous name. With 34 locations in Michigan and Illinois, the acquisition expands Fox Motors’ portfolio of automotive and powersports brands to 47.

The first Jaguar Land Rover dealership owned by Fox is located in Farmington Hills. The Fox Motors group of companies now includes two BMW dealerships, BMW of Farmington Hills and BMW of Traverse City.

Additionally, Fox Motors recruited 100 former World of Erhard employees, bringing the total number of employees at the company to 1,600. Alan Graham, general manager, and Jason Olesnavage, director of Fox Motors’ Big 10 Division, will be in charge of both Farmington Hills facilities.

based in Metro Detroit Erhard and Gretchen Dahm founded World of Erhard in 1964 after founding the first exclusive BMW dealership in the nation. Later, the company expanded to incorporate two collision repair facilities along with its Land Rover and Jaguar franchises.

My family and I have always admired the Jaguar and Land Rover product line, so we were excited about the prospect of bringing these venerable luxury names to Fox Motors. After adding Ann Arbor in 2017, expanding our BMW footprint and entering the metro Detroit area is a natural move that we are excited about, said to Daniel G. DeVos, chairman and CEO of Fox Motors. “We are constantly searching for growth possibilities,” he added. A We both have a passion for putting our staff and customers first, therefore I have no doubt that the Fox family will uphold the excellent reputation that the Dahm family established. a

Fox intends to move the dealership there next summer. A brand-new 58,663-square-foot facility for Jaguar Land Rover Farmington Hills is now being built on the junction of Grand River Avenue and Meadowbrook Road in Novi. The new building will include two outdoor pedestrian plazas, 30 service bays, 24 showroom displays, and twice the space of the current one.

Fox Motors wants to provide the Farmington Hills dealerships access to its distinctive programs. Fox Cash Offer offers customers a free appraisal and the option to sell their vehicle without purchasing it. Other programs include Fox CARES, which focuses on ways the Fox family can give back to the community, Buy Your Way and Service Your Way, which give customers options for buying and maintaining vehicles.

Win Dahm, sales president of Erhard Motors, expressed gratitude to the community and the Erhard staff on behalf of the Dahm family for their many years of dedication. Because they understood the importance of relationships with people, our parents developed a successful business. Our family has enjoyed the journey immensely, and we are certain that the Fox Motors Family will uphold the heritage.

Jaguar of Novi has joined the World of Erhard dealership group, and a new BMW store in Bloomfield Hills will open soon.

At the end of January, the Troy-based Elder Automotive Network sold Jaguar of Novi to The World of Erhard, a local group of car dealerships, for an unknown fee.

The Jaguar dealership was relocated by Erhard to its Land Rover Farmington Hills location on Grand River Avenue close to 10 Mile Road.

Angie Hovey, one of the owners of World of Erhard, noted that both Jaguar Land Rover’s encouragement to combine the two brands under a single dealership and the upcoming new vehicles from Jaguar were factors in the acquisition.

On the eight-acre site of a former Ford dealership, Erhard is now building a new dealership in Bloomfield Hills at 1845 S. Telegraph Road, north of Square Lake Road.

After moving from Telegraph and W. Maple Roads in Bloomfield Township, Erhard, which is owned by the Dahm family, will invest over $10 million in the new, 87,000-square-foot dealership that will house Erhard BMW of Bloomfield Hills, according to Hovey.

According to Ken Widerstedt, parts director and facility manager for Erhard, the new building’s construction began in December thanks to Bloomfield Hills-based Maptel Properties LLC.

A 16,000 square foot body shop and a showroom with space for 36 automobiles would be included in the new dealership when it is finished, which is anticipated to be in January 2017, he added.

In addition to Land Rover Farmington Hills and the Bloomfield Erhard BMW, World of Erhard also owns Jaguar Farmington Hills, Erhard BMW of Farmington Hills, and AutoMark Collision Farmington Hills.
