It’s a fairly stupid question, but I’m having trouble solving it. My 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CDI has an F5A51 automatic transmission.
In the engine compartment, there is an AT dipstick. I tried to check the ATF after driving the car till the ATF hit 150 degrees Fahrenheit (I used a scan gauge to verify this).
But the dipstick is covered in oil. I suppose that because the oil pump is producing such a large volume of oil, the stick is covered with oil.
Do you guys, however, have a way to test the fluid? If you perform a drain and fill, how do you check it?
Since I’m beginning to experience some rather difficult shifts between second and third, I want to confirm that the transmission at least has the proper volume of fluid.
