The differences between the BMW 740i and 740Li can be better understood by comparing them. Since 1977, the BMW 7 series has been a line of high-end luxury vehicles. Since 2009, the most recent models of the 740i and 740Li have been available. The 740Li’s extended wheelbase is the main distinction between the two models of this German automaker. For this year, both of these import models are still accessible in the US.

A luxury vehicle with a 4-door sedan body shape is the BMW 740i. This model’s base pricing offers a wide range of opulent and powerful equipment, including a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine with 315 horsepower. The cost of the BMW 740i starts at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $73,600, according to the Edmunds automobile buying guide. The BMW 740Li has a starting MSRP of $77,600. Some of the basic features on these vehicles, according to the buyer’s guide, include a navigation system, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and an optional DVD player.

I am aware that the 12 cm difference in length and the space between the axles separate the two models, but can you tell the difference between them from the outside of the car?

You want us to provide visual evidence of what you’ve already entered, aren’t you? The extra length is between the B and C pillars, sometimes known as the rear doors. That is the only variation from what you typed. Therefore, if you can determine visually that the back doors are longer, you already know the solution.

The extra floor space, the extra compartment [for sunglasses or cigars] that the “iL” has, or the inside panel of the back door, or you might just look at the logo or badge on the trunk.

The 740i/740iL are identical from the front bumper to the B pillar and identical from the C pillar to the rear bumper. If “pillars” are unfamiliar automotive jargon to you, please refer to the illustration below:

The A, B, C, or (in larger cars) D-pillar, identified accordingly from the front to the rear in profile view, are the vertical or almost vertical supports of a car’s window area or greenhouse.

Actually, it varies on the year. The v8 740iL and v12 750iL were both versions of the 740 from 1995 to 2001. BMW had the v8 745Li and the v12 760Li from 2002 to 2005, then the 750Li and 760Li from 2006 to the present. In essence, determining if a car is an IL or LI body style—IL being the older one—will inform you which type of body it is. I hope this isn’t too cumbersome.

hello Kathy Large question There have been 4 iterations of the BMW 7 series since 1977. The following BMW models were available from 1977 to 1986: 725i, 728, 728i/iS, 730, 730i, 732, 733, 735, 745i Turbo, and L7. In America, only the 733i, 735i, and L7 were offered. After 1987, they offered the 3.0, 3.5, and 5.0L versions of the 730, 735, and 750 as well as a “stretched variant with a L designation” for each. That generation of 7-series vehicles was in production until 2001, when the current model was introduced. The 740 has a 3.9L engine, which is still how the model numbers indicate engine capacity. By the way, that engine is a diesel one (it should be stated that it is a 740d), and as far as I know, it is only available in Europe. The 4.8L engine in the 750 is available in America. Hope that was useful.

I believe some of the information posted is incorrect. Every engine has some clearance volume, and the 750i has a full 5 liter engine that displaces 4,988 cc. The bmw 740i has a 4 liter engine. However, if you’re talking about the displacement volume, it is slightly less.

However, as it has been changing continuously since 1977, you must be explicit about the year for which you want to calculate the engine capacity.

Do the 2000 reg 750i L AUTO and 2000 reg 735i or perhaps 2000 reg 728i have the same parts?

Suspension, the bonnet and both sides, the kidney grill, the bumper, the radiotor, the filter, and any other parts that I may have overlooked are among them.

I definitely need to speak with someone who is an expert mechanic and is knowledgeable about BMW models E38.

What distinguishes the BMW 740i and 750i?

Since the BMW 740 has far less torque than the BMW 750, it won’t normally feel as powerful or speedy. For those who frequently drive others about, the BMW 740 is a better option because it has more seats than the BMW 750.

A BMW 740iL is from what series?

The BMW 7 Series cars from 1995 to 2001 were built on the BMW E38 model. Early in 1988, “Entwicklung 99”-the third generation of the 7-series-began to take shape.

How powerful of an engine does a 740i have?

Rear-wheel drive is the sole available configuration for this vehicle, which comes with a standard 375-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six and a 48-volt hybrid system. According to BMW, the 740i will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds. The 760i xDrive’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine produces 536 horsepower and utilizes a 48-volt hybrid system to accelerate to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, according to BMW. All-wheel drive is standard on this vehicle. During a brief test-drive event in Germany, we had the opportunity to try the eight-cylinder prototype model, noting both its smooth operation and strong acceleration. Air suspension is a standard feature on the new vehicle, and BMW has built a rear-wheel steering system and variable dampers into the chassis. Because of this, the new vehicle feels more nimble than the previous one did while continuing to prioritize comfort over athleticism.

What distinguishes the 740Li and 750Li?

The main differences between the 750i xDrive and the 740i xDrive’s basic features are the latter’s distinctive 19-inch wheels and standard Nappa leather inside. The 750i makes it possible to purchase further modifications like the $5,750 Rear Executive Lounge Seating Package.

What distinguishes the BMW Li from the BMW I?

They are nearly identical cars, with the Li being around 5″ longer and 100 pounds heavier. There are a few more options available to the Li, but not many more. Given that you would be paying $80,000 on the base model of the I anyhow, you might as well choose the Li for 4,000 more. Up until you start considering the extras that would make the back more limo like, bucket seats and air cooled seats, the only real distinctions are larger rear leg room and air suspension.

The length you should choose truly depends on your application; if you intend to drive alone, use the shorter variant.

also true. I made a mistake by purchasing the LWB vehicle that I personally operate. I’ve never been able to take advantage of the amazing amenities in the

On the other hand, the Li is by far the best option if you are hiring a driver so you can handle business while on the go.

Which is superior, a Mercedes or a BMW?

BMW remains the overall champion when it comes to luxury performance, even if the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is one of the best-performing large luxury sedans on the road right now. Customers should choose a BMW automobile if they want performance and style in one convenient package.

The BMW 7 Series is referred to as what?

The full-size luxury cars BMW F01 (sedan variant) and BMW F02 (long-wheelbase sedan version) make up the fifth generation of the BMW 7 Series. From 2008 through 2015, BMW developed the F01/F02 generation, which is frequently referred to as the F01.

The hybrid drivetrain, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a turbocharged V12 engine were first offered on a BMW vehicle with the F01. It was the second 7 Series to be offered with an all-wheel-drive turbocharged gasoline engine (the first being the European E23 745i) (xDrive). Compared to the previous 7 Series, the wheelbase was extended by 8 cm. F03 for the “High Security 7 Series” armored car and F04 for the “ActiveHybrid 7” hybrid-electric variant were additional model codes for this generation.

The BMW 7 Series (G11), which replaces the F01, went into production in July 2015.

Which is superior, an Audi or a BMW?

It’s difficult to predict who will win the Audi vs. BMW competition. The same target market is being courted by both producers, but they focus on distinct specifications and features.

When it comes to technology and style, Audi is the winner, but BMW offers a smoother, sportier driving experience. When it comes to safety features, both brands score highly, however Audi has far lower reliability ratings. Although there isn’t much of a difference in price between the two, Audi’s reliability difficulties are evident in the price of repairs.

In the end, they are both fairly similar automobile makers with comparable models that appeal to slightly different demographics. Choose a BMW if you want a sporty, controlled ride. Choose an Audi if you want something with understated style and cutting-edge technology.

Is the BMW 7 Series still produced?

BMW stays committed to its premium sedan in an era of big, luxury SUVs. The 2023 7 Series, which is currently in its seventh generation, features a much more aggressive design than before, with a large front grille and tiered headlights.

For BMW, what does Li stand for?

The third generation of the 7 Series, which was built from 1994 until 2001, is known as the E38. Standard length and long wheelbase (“iL”) sedans made up the model line.

There were straight-six, V8 and V12 petrol engines offered. The turbocharged straight-six engine debuted in the E38 and was later joined by a twin-turbocharged V8 in 1999, making it the first 7 Series to be offered with a diesel engine.

The first vehicle with curtain airbags was the E38. Additionally, it was the first BMW to provide an integrated television and the first European vehicle to offer satellite navigation.
