In essence, I bought my automobile brand new at the end of May 2013, and now the idrive is telling me that a statutory vehicle inspection is now necessary. Now since I don’t drive the car all that much, it indicates the first oil change is still 14000 miles away. Can I just disregard the Statutory Vehicle Inspection service this month, or do I still need to get it this month? If I don’t have to, I really don’t want to take it to BMW!

The only real way to guarantee that your BMW is in excellent condition.
Condition Based Servicing, often known as aCBSa, is a digital service book that is installed in newer generation BMWs made starting about 2001.
In essence, this means that your BMW car will alert you when a Vehicle Check service is necessary. If the previous service was performed to the required requirements, a digital alert will signal that a service is needed on the speedometer dash area or the idrive screen (if your car has an idrive).
A scheduled service called a “BMW vehicle check” makes sure that your BMW vehicle is indeed in excellent shape. We review a wide range of components in this thorough inspection to evaluate the vehicle’s overall performance, roadworthiness, and safety.
Inspection Information:
- examining all safety mechanisms
- examining each inside light
- examining all of the external lights
- checking the fluid level in the windscreen washer system and adding more if necessary.
- examining the tread depth, wear pattern, general condition, and inflation pressure of each tire.
- Verify the BMW Mobility system (if applicable)
- Examining the warning triangle’s physical condition and the date of expiration on the emergency first aid kit.
- Run flat indicator initialization (if applicable)
- examining the content and level of engine coolant. If necessary, adjust the mixture ratio or top off.
- inspecting the exterior and performance of the headlamp.
- examining the level of the reservoir’s steering fluid (if hydraulic steering)
- examining all brake connections and lines for tightness and proper placement
- Examining the underside of the body and all exposed areas for damage, proper alignment, and tightness
- Looking for defects, play, leaks, damage, and wear in the steering system
- Testing the brakes, steering, shock absorbers, and gearbox while driving
- Cleaning is done on the inside and out.
- Your BMW service record has been completely updated.
In addition to high performance OEM manufacturers that frequently go above and beyond manufacturer specifications, we use and suggest authentic BMW components for repairs. With the exception of parts for high performance applications, the majority of the components can only be purchased directly from BMW, and in our opinion, BMW supplies the greatest quality components for your car.
So, the X3 received its major service at my neighborhood BMW dealer on Monday. But when I check the MyBMW app, I find that the vehicle inspection is still due in November:
Since the car’s MOT is actually due in November, I believe this is a reference to the compulsory “MOT” that we have here in the UK. I’m not sure, though. Does the vehicle inspection only involve the MOT? or another thing?
I presume they’ll find a way to make the message vanish from the app if this is the MOT and the BMW dealer is performing it.
However, does the warning remain on the app if I decide to have the MOT performed somewhere else (which I would probably do given that BMW dealers seem to charge more than ‘regular’ garages for the privilege)? Or is there a November expiration date?
Undoubtedly, the “Vehicle Inspection” refers to the MOT. Here in the US, I don’t see that on my app. I’m not sure how the MOT app integration functions, so I can’t say whether getting your MOT done somewhere else than the dealer will cause it to reset. It could be annoying if the app or automobile keeps reminding you even after the task has been completed.
(I’m from California, and my application does state that a “Emission Inspection” is required in 2060. However, I believe the first emissions check would occur in 2028 rather than in 39 years for my 2021 M40i.)
The “Vehicle Check” is one of the maintenance services based on mileage/age that they perform. This is the case everywhere.
What is covered by the BMW inspection 1?
Inspection 1 is the first thorough examination performed as part of your planned BMW maintenance to ensure that all safety features are functional and to improve your vehicle’s general performance. BMW Inspection 1 serves as a prerequisite for Inspection 2, which is required at higher mileage.
The BMW Inspection 1 service schedule varies according on the age and mileage of your car. If you want to know if your service is due, please consult the chart below;

An MOT is a BMW vehicle examination.
Due to BMW’s engineering standards, passing a MOT check should be a formality. An MOT check is one of the most thorough assessments your car will have to undergo to check safety-related and emissions systems, including lighting, steering, brakes, and suspension. However, there’s always a possibility that something could have been harmed without your knowledge. The official MOT test is a valuable yearly safety check, and we are the perfect team to handle the test and any necessary repairs. We only use Genuine BMW Parts because we have received specialized training from BMW. The official VT20 certificate, which serves as your receipt for the MOT test and contains the data that will be stored in the MOT database, will be sent to you once your car has passed. The advisory notice of the VT32 document will include any recommended additional work that your vehicle might need.
When your first MOT is due, you’ll have the benefit of being protected by BMW MOT Protect if you own a new BMW. You won’t suffer if your BMW fails its initial MOT, which is improbable. A long list of important elements includes repairs, replacements, and labor that are all covered. We will work with you to resolve any concerns as soon as possible and at no additional cost*.
Make sure you utilize our free End of Warranty Check before the warranty on your BMW expires. Why not schedule an End of Warranty Check at the same time as your MOT given that your BMW is qualified regardless of how many miles it has driven? Our factory-trained specialists will do a complete inspection of your BMW and make sure that any problems are addressed before the warranty expires.
With the following exceptions: windscreen, wheels, tyres, items replaced as part of routine maintenance (such as brake disks and pads), modified parts, and/or non-BMW components, *MOT Protect covers items that fail a MOT test.
An MoT or a mandatory car inspection?
My car’s display alerts me when a required vehicle inspection is approaching. Does the UK apply to this? What does this entail, if necessary?
Read the book on services and warranties. However, anything that is “statutory” is something that is required by law, such as a yearly MoT test. If you purchased the vehicle outside of the country where it was manufactured, the rules there may apply, maybe based on the date the vehicle was constructed rather than the date it was initially registered.
What does a BMW warranty end check entail?
One of our BMW-trained experts will examine all of your car’s systems and parts during a free BMW End of Guarantee Check to look for any problems that are covered by the three-year BMW warranty.
Any warranty-covered repair work will be performed completely free of charge because the End of Warranty Check is completed before your BMW warranty coverage expires.
Any unfinished recalls will be completed at the same time as even the tiniest faults are resolved.
Finally, we will provide you a thorough video report of your car’s health inspection so you have a full understanding of the state of your BMW.
How much is the BMW warranty?
The New BMW Limited Warranty Covers What? You are covered against manufacturing-related flaws in materials or workmanship when you buy a new car from BMW. This warranty period lasts for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, and it begins on the day the new car is sold.
How can I turn off the inspection light on my BMW?
Find the tiny odometer button in the instrument panel’s lower left corner. until the service message shows, press and hold. When the message says “Reset,” let go of the button and press and hold it once more.
Can I operate a BMW with the check engine light on?
A constant glow normally denotes something less serious, but a check engine light that flashes suggests your car’s engine is seriously damaged and needs quick repair. We strongly advise not operating your BMW while the check engine light is flashing and setting up BMW servicing right away.
Do I have to have BMW service my car?
It can be really exciting to purchase a new car, but you may also have a lot of concerns. One of these issues might be if you must repair your BMW at a franchised shop in order to maintain your warranty.
You’ve come to the correct location since we’ll be discussing car service as well as your rights and responsibilities.
Many automobile owners may be unsure of their servicing needs and the best course of action when it comes to picking up and servicing a new car.
You are not needed to have your BMW serviced at a franchised dealership in order to maintain the conditions of your auto warranty. However, you should consider your car financing options since this could influence the outcome.
