I went in to try to renew my Connected Drive plan (for extra applications) last weekend because it had previously expired. The package has been removed.
This is reportedly related to the fact that my model includes a Telematics Control Unit that is 3G compatible and that AT&T will go over to 4G by February 2022. BMW won’t be able to continue providing the service for a complete year, so they won’t renew one-year subscriptions.
The fact that BMW Teleservices, BMW Assist eCall, and BMW Remote Services claim to be operational on my account through the end of 2023 is fascinating. But how will that be feasible if my car’s 3G TCU isn’t functioning?
Does anyone have information on the potential of Connected Drive on earlier BMW models, including what will and won’t work?
I recently received an email from BMW informing me that my connected drive subscription will soon expire, but despite a fast search, I can’t really find a clear picture of what features I’ll lose. Do you have any suggestions?
RTTI will probably disappear, leaving the Nav with certain shortcomings, but it won’t be worth the PS120 a year for me. Another thing?
How about reading literature, which is useful but not particularly impressive, according to what I’ve read elsewhere?
For reference, my 2011 LCI 330d has the Pro Nav. I have internet (that will work), but I don’t have the fancy Facebook/Twitter feature.
I’ve always renewed mine, so I can’t say for sure, but I assume the SIM card will stop working, so anything that depends on it will probably stop working as well, including RTTI, connected drive, concierge, messages and send to car, etc. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was an additional subscription for that.

I’m assuming that this is only for the USB map update and not the app itself, so I’ll still be able to change departure times and other information (Assuming everything is in order, it isn’t Thursday, it isn’t raining, and the car isn’t facing the wrong way)?

BMW, on the other hand, offers four ConnectedDrive packages that range in price from PS59 to PS239 and run for a full year. As the price rises, each bundle includes more ConnectedDrive features.

When their BMWs reach their third anniversary, some owners will still be required to pay up to PS265 for Apple CarPlay. In 2020, BMW vehicles finally offered Android Auto connectivity as an option, providing wireless integration to the vehicle’s infotainment system at no additional cost.

BMW ConnectedDrive: Does it track?
Does anyone have knowledge of ConnectedDrive Remote Services? A secondhand M235i was my recent purchase. Although I am aware that BMW ConnectedDrive is not a tracker, I still wanted to be able to locate my car, and this feature (Remote Services) allows me to do so without being constrained by a 1.5 mile radius.
Everything is OK, and it was incredibly helpful when my house was broken into and my baby was taken hostage. I was unable to follow the car while it was moving, but once it stopped, I was able to find it, and the police were able to recover it five miles distant. I was able to retrieve my automobile entirely because of Remote Services. Time travel 2.5 weeks. My Android phone’s BMW ConnectedDrive app has been upgraded. I tried to find my car while I was at work. “Vehicle was too far away to establish location,” it reported. I briefly panicked, believing my automobile had been taken. When I was more composed, I downloaded Fake GPS to make my phone think it was near my residence. And there you have it, my automobile was found by BMW Connected. My blood was boiling, so I wrote BMW a series of stern emails. Still waiting for them to respond.
Even though BMW has all the tools and technology to assist the owner in recovering a stolen vehicle, they choose not to do so. I requested assistance from Emergency Services after my automobile was taken. The operator informed me that she could only find my car if I was actually in it. It is understandable why auto thieves favor BMW so much. BMW supports the theft of these vehicles.
