I firmly believe that only M or M Performance vehicles, such as an M5 or M50d, should bear the M emblem. Hopefully BMW will start to use it more selectively as opposed to everywhere.
Anything with a M on it sells quickly and for a lot of money when I part out E36s M3s on the side.
Does anyone know the exact measurements of this M Performance badge? I was considering purchasing a gloss black “genuine” one from iND, but they don’t offer it for sale in the G05 category. If the dimensions are the same as the E82 1M version, does anyone know?
shiny black My badge measures roughly 54 mm wide by 20 mm high. I suppose this is the stock size; you may look through Mystro’s thread to find out for sure.
I’m grateful. I’ll order those tomorrow from my neighborhood dealer. I intend to wrap the roof and black out all insignia, the front grill, and the exhaust tips.
I think the color of part number 51-14-8-058-882 is Cerium Grey. Not Gloss Black, it is not. I’m currently considering whether to purchase these from the dealer and have them put properly on my M50i.
Or at the very least, they ought to have distinctive logos that would make more sense and make the people who pay more feel more honored.

signifies the deletion of the /M Sport insignia from the front wheel quarters. Unfortunately, you cannot add it to your build (or in this case, un-delete it). M Sport vehicles occasionally leave the factory with the /M logos on; if you are the happy owner of one of them, consider yourself.
If not, you can order the component and reinstall it yourself. They cost about $24 each, and you’ll need two.
I simply added it using photoshop. Although I also completed the chrome version, I thought the black version looked nicer and I utilized a part that was sized like an M50i M part. I constructed it with the larger one because the one in the photo at the top of the post is much too little for the size of the car. Personally, I adore the way it appears. Am I alone?
Can someone here confirm whether they come as factory options or are standard on any year’s M235? My 2016 doesn’t have them, but I saw one at the dealer that did while it was in for service. Nobody at the dealer could answer my question.
I think [I could be wrong here] that it was utilized on the first-edition 2014 vehicles before being discontinued for 2015. They are in my production from March 2014.
This is accurate. These emblems are not standard on later models, but you may get them online if you like.
My 15 and my recently delivered 16 both had them. There was no other choice. At delivery, they were aboard the vehicle.
I’m also contemplating this. not a choice. It appears to require something there, in my opinion. Not the M2/3/4 gills, but the emblem—which mine lacks—would satisfy me. Although some cars arrived from the factory like way, I am aware that I can purchase the emblem. Could it be different in the USA, Canada, or Europe?
according to the importers in each nation or area. In Australia, they have always been available, and all current cars include them with simply the M Sport pack. The M Sport option cars feature bright chrome, whereas the M Performance cars (M1/235i & X5/6 M50d) have smoked chrome that matches the rear emblems.
My memory was that they were removed from Canadian models but not American ones. I don’t know about outside of North America, but I believe it was primarily a US issue.
These badges are also in use in Europe. I noticed a couple new vehicles with the luxury logo at my neighborhood dealership. They are dreadfully inferior to the /M badges, in my opinion.
When I first purchased my car, I had the option to remove all extra badges and accessories. However, my dealer persuaded me to leave them on, arguing that while they may not look as clean without them, they will make it easier for you to sell the car in the future. This is probably one of the most sincere statements a dealer has ever made, as he is clearly aware that cars with M-Bags sell more frequently than those without.
I kept mine on only in case I ever wanted to sell it, but that doesn’t mean I like them; I would much rather have a badge-free vehicle because it is much simpler to keep clean and looks better.
That and those f*cking brakes letting off dust like its been driven in the desert. I detest all the crud and dirt that gets in between the letters of the badges impossible to clean.
My order document includes the following code: “3DZ Without Lines designation outside.” I just placed an order for an M235 yesterday.
I haven’t seen the order forms for the earlier models, but this could be a sign that no M badges are present. (Or, as someone mentioned above, it can simply be a sign that it lacks the “Luxury,” etc. badge.)
M Sport BMW
M Sport is the bottom rung of the BMW M ladder. Instead than being a special vehicle variation like M Performance or M, “M Sport” is simply an accessory package that can be applied to practically any BMW. The M Sport package is available for even high-end vehicles like the 7-Series, 8-Series, and X7.
The M Sport package varies from vehicle to vehicle in terms of what is included. Carwow notes that, at the very least, it offers distinctive outward and interior elements. Some minor M emblems, darker exterior and interior trim, bigger wheels, a sportier-looking body package, and a unique steering wheel are among these changes. However, certain BMWs get much more.
For instance, according to Car and Driver and Road & Track, the M Sport option for the 3-Series includes M Sport suspension, faster steering, and variously colored brake calipers. In contrast, the X5 M Sport package replaces the sport suspension with an adaptable one. The M Sport package can therefore increase handling, if not exactly performance, despite the fact that it is primarily aesthetic.
What is included in the BMW Sport Line?
The premium size sedan, the 2017 BMW 5 Series, was introduced this week and will go on sale in February 2017. Two “Line” packages—Sport Line and Luxury Line—will be offered at launch.
High-gloss black accents, 18-inch wheels, and an illuminated BMW Sport Line emblem in the door sills are all included with the Sport Line package. Additionally, it includes interior trim, a BMW sports leather steering wheel, and Sport seats with a fabric and leather combination. The Luxury Line includes chrome exterior features such the Air Breather vent, exclusive 18- or 19-inch wheels, leather-covered instrument panel with contrast stitching, and interior leather.
Beginning in March 2017, there will also be a M Sport package that includes lowered M Sport suspension, M light-alloy wheels in either 18 or 19 inches, and the exterior M Aerodynamic package (front apron with larger air intakes, side skirt trim, a diffusor-style rear apron, and an exhaust system with two rectangular tailpipes).
Along with the new M Sport leather steering wheel, special floor mats, interior trim strips, and aluminum pedals, the interior has M sports seats with Alcantara covers to emphasize its sporty character.
With 21 exterior colors, including 11 metallic, 6 individual, and 2 individual frozen color possibilities, the new 5 Series will also have more color options than ever before. Additionally, there will be a range of wheel options, from 17 to 20 inches.
The BMW Sport Line package is what?
A 2.0L 16-valve turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 240 HP powers the 4-door BMW 328i. There are three different types of transmissions available: a free 6-speed manual transmission, an optional 8-speed Sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and an 8-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission with Adaptive Transmission Control (ATC). If you want to make your 3-series even more sporty, there are optional M Sport Brakes to improve braking performance. The Sport Line package adds high-gloss black kidney grille bars and 18″ alloy wheels to the exterior of the car, a black signature key fob with a red accent and exclusive upholstery and trims to the interior.
What does BMW’s M stand for?
The word “Motorsport” refers to the BMW M Series, which was initially developed to support BMW’s racing program. Over time, the BMW M program started to add customized vehicle models to its roster, which are now accessible to the general public.
The BMW Premium Package is what?
Heated steering wheel, Comfort Access keyless entry, a panoramic moonroof, lumbar support, heated front seats, a head-up display, and gesture control are all included in the premium package.
What does 3DZ for BMW mean?
The option code for removing the front-panel M badges is 3DZ, as stated. The code is absent, as you can see if you decode the VINs for 2014 M235i models built to US specifications. In US-spec ’15s and ’16s, 3DZ appears.
If BMWNA would allow someone to eliminate 3DZ and order a car with the emblems, it would be interesting to know. It’s not impossible, of course, but I’d wager that such a proposal would encounter opposition. I inquired about doing a code 326 last year. a factory code that is available for the model and appears in international ordering manuals I received a clear “NO” in response.
Regards, Mike. It was impossible to obtain this kind of information elsewhere, and definitely not from the vendor.
I wish I had the option to delete them altogether, I’m glad my 2015 didn’t come with those side badges, and I’m getting tired of having to tell people that while it has a few M pieces, it isn’t a true M when they ask.
I’m absolutely in love with my M235, but I’d want to follow the adage “less is more.”
