In a few years, the FedEx Cup Playoffs’ penultimate tournament will return to the same location.

The PGA Tour revealed on Tuesday that the BMW Championship, which will take place in Delaware’s Wilmington Country Club in 2022, will also be played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, in 2025, and Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2026. Although the exact dates haven’t been decided, both events are planned for August.

Vince Pellegrino, senior vice president of tournaments for the Western Golf Association, said, “We are thrilled to bring the BMW Championship back to these legendary locations, offering the terrific fans of the greater Baltimore and St. Louis areas an opportunity to witness the finest players in the world up close.” The PGA Tour partners Caves Valley Golf Club and Bellerive Country Club are the ideal additions to our championship schedule. “When we assess possible hosts, we search for demanding layouts that can create an unsurpassed experience for fans and our PGA Tour partners.”

In addition to hosting the BMW Championship last year, which was won by eventual FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay, Caves Valley also helped raise a record $5.6 million for caddie scholarships and the establishment of the Caves Valley Evans Scholars Scholarship House at the University of Maryland.

The return of this famous title to Caves Valley Golf Club is a great honor, according to Caves Valley Golf Club President Steve Fader. The club will continue its Long-Range Strategic Plan, working with the Fazio Design Group to improve the competitive and agronomic conditions for its membership and everyone involved with the 2025 BMW Championship. “We are still buzzing from last year’s finish and the spotlight that was placed on the Baltimore area.

The 2008 BMW Championship was previously held at Bellerive Country Club, when Camilo Villegas won for the first time on the PGA Tour. The 1965 U.S. also took place at the club. Among them are the 1992 and 2018 PGA Championships as well as the Open, where Gary Player completed his career grand slam. In 2030, Bellerive will also serve as the Presidents Cup host.

Bellerive Country Club President Rick Walsh expressed his excitement about hosting the 2026 BMW Championship and welcoming the FedExCup Playoffs back to St. Louis. We intend to create a challenging test for the players while celebrating our great and encouraging community. Our club has a distinguished history of major championship golf.

The Western Open was first held in 1899, making this competition the third-oldest on the Tour’s calendar, behind only the British Open and U.S. Open. Since 2007, the BMW Championship has helped more than 3,300 men and women attend college by raising more than $40 million for caddy scholarships.

In 2023, the BMW Championship will return to Chicago’s Olympia Fields Country Club, and in 2024, it will make its debut at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colorado, a suburb of Denver.

Return of the BMW Championship to Olympia Fields

The Olympia Fields Country Club, which hosted the competition Jon Rahm won in 2020, will hold the BMW Championship once more in 2023. Additionally, BMW extended its sponsorship of the second FedExCup Playoffs event on the TOUR for an another five years, ending in 2027.

According to PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan, “We would like to extend our profound gratitude to BMW for their continued support of the PGA TOUR and the Western Golf Association through 2027.” We are also grateful for BMW’s commitment to carrying out the mission of the Evans Scholars Foundation, which has impacted thousands of lives over the last 15 years. “The BMW Championship played an incredibly significant role in launching the FedExCup in 2007, and BMW’s commitment to presenting a best-in-class event each year continues to elevate the FedExCup Playoffs.”

At the 2020 BMW Championship, held at Olympia Fields Country Club in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Jon Rahm prevailed over Dustin Johnson with a 66-foot birdie putt on the opening hole of the playoff. On the same Olympia Fields North course as the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was held in 2017, the competition was played without spectators.

William McErlean, president of Olympia Fields Country Club, said, “We are happy and privileged to bring the 2023 BMW Championship back to Olympia Fields Country Club and our North Course, which has been the site of so many amazing moments in the history of this event. “Our membership looks forward to opening up our facilities to the world’s top golfers as well as the golfing public.”

Olympia Fields has a long history of winning championships. It also hosted the 2003 U.S. Open in addition to the 2017 Women’s PGA Championship and the BMW Championship. Jim Furyk won the 2015 U.S. Open. DeChambeau won the amateur category.

183 Olympia Fields caddies have gone on to get Evans Scholarships over the years, starting with Don Dahlke, who received one in 1954 so that he could attend Northwestern University. As Evans Scholars, nine Olympia Fields caddies are now enrolled in colleges.

The top 70 PGA Tour golfers after The Northern Trust are eligible for the BMW Championship. There are just 70 competitors, hence there is no 36-hole cut.

The 2019 BMW Championship was won by Justin Thomas at Medinah Country Club. After shooting a third-round course record 61, Thomas ended at 25-under 263, tying a tournament record with a final-round 68. Hideki Matsuyama came in third, followed by second-place finisher Patrick Cantlay.

The Western Open Golf Tournament was the name of the competition before it changed to the BMW Championship, which was normally held in early July around the Chicago region. Between 1974 and 2006, Cog Hill and Butler National served as the venue.

The Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides meritorious golfers from low-income families with full tuition and housing scholarships, receives 100% of the earnings from the BMW Championship. There are currently 1010 student-caddies enrolled at 18 colleges around the country who receive tuition help from the Evans Scholars Foundation.

More than 11,050 young men and women who were Evans Scholars have completed their college degrees since 1930. The majority of awardees enroll in one of the 17 colleges where a Scholarship House is run by the Evans Scholars Foundation. Evans Scholars are chosen based on their high academic standing, admirable moral character, solid caddie record, and clear financial need.

What location hosts the BMW European Championship?

On the stunning West Course, the European Tour’s marquee competition pits the finest players in the world against one another. The BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club not only has a brilliant field, but the Pro-Am with its numerous A-list athletes and celebrities, the weekend live concerts, and the fervent fans turn “The BMW” into a festival of golf.

Owners of the BMW group will once more obtain privileged parking privileges in 2022. Parking for park and rides will also be cost-free. 12 years of age and under are admitted free with the purchase of an adult ticket.

Where will the 2022 BMW Championship be held?

The 2022 BMW PGA Championship will resume play on Sunday after being suspended on Thursday due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. At 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, the game will resume. At 1:40 a.m. ET, it was local time in Surrey, England, where several groups were still playing their first rounds.

The DP World Tour issued a statement saying, “All original second round tee times will stay the same and the second round of the BMW PGA Championship will continue at 6:40 a.m. on Saturday morning.” The players who haven’t finished their first round will start doing so at 7:30 a.m. from the spot on the course where they finished on Thursday.

Instead of the usual 72 holes, the tournament, which is the biggest on the DP World Tour, will only have 54 holes.

The statement read, “The Rolex Series event will now be played over 54 holes with a goal of wrapping up on Sunday as scheduled. “Due to ongoing planning for the state funeral, we are unable to guarantee the staff, facilities, or security of the venue on Monday. Throughout the weekend at Wentworth, black ribbons will be made available for guests to wear and flags will continue to fly at half-mast,” the statement read.

Because the Englishmen Andy Sullivan and Tommy Fleetwood and the Norwegian Viktor Hovland shared the lead at the end of play on Thursday, their opening rounds of 8-under 64 carry even more significance. With only 36 holes remaining, it will be more challenging for chasers to catch up to those at the top of the leaderboard.

The DP World Tour made no mention of altering the cut, therefore it should be reasonable to presume that it will happen after the first 36 holes. If they want to win the largest trophy on the DP World Tour this weekend, they will need to play immaculate golf since the leaders, Rory McIlroy and Billy Horschel, who is also the defending champion, are four shots behind them and Matt Fitzpatrick and Jon Rahm are even farther back.

This event will feature a 144-player field and be contested over four days. It will be the 34th stop on the 2021–2022 DP World Tour.

The competition is taking place where it was originally supposed to, with the European Tour returning to Wentworth for its premier event.
