The model codes E90 (saloon), E91 (estate, marketed as “Touring”), E92 (coupe), and E93 (executive vehicle) represent the fifth generation of the BMW 3 Series series of small executive cars. The model, which BMW produced until October 2013, was first debuted in December 2004 and is frequently referred to as the E90 or E9x.
Run-flat tires were first made available for the 3 Series with the E9x. Run-flat tire models are not provided with spare tires. The first 3 Series vehicle with a turbocharged gasoline engine was the E92 335i. The E90 and E92 belong to the same 3-series generation. E90 stands for the sedan, and E92 for the coupe. Since they both have the same BMW N52 engine, the engine specifications will not change.
The E90 and E92 designations, however, indicate that the cars actually rest on separate chassis. Specifications like the 328i’s weight, length, ground clearance, etc. differ between the coupe and sedan versions. According to what I can determine, the e90 is larger than the e92 in all but one dimension (height). The body is wider, shorter, and there is less body in front of and behind the wheels. I get the importance of having a lower center of gravity (e92), but the e90 is superior in the other dimensions, right? Have I got this right?

What exactly does E46 mean?
The E46 3 Series was the successor to the E36 3 Series, whose manufacturing terminated in 2000, and is the fourth generation of the BMW 3 Series line of small executive automobiles. It was manufactured by the German automaker BMW from 1997 to 2006. The E46 was first made available in sedan, coupe, convertible, station wagon, and hatchback body styles in November 1997. The 3 Series Compact has been the name given to the latter.
The 2-door coupe version of the M3 performance variant debuted in June 2000, while the convertible version debuted in April 2001. The BMW S54 straight-six engine powers the M3, which has a 6-speed manual or 6-speed SMG-II automated manual transmission as an option.
After the E90 3 Series sedans were released in late 2004, the E46 lineup began to be phased out. The E46 coupe and convertible body types, however, were still manufactured up until August 2006.
