Touch up pan is effective… The only need is that you be prepared to sand and polish. Realize that the touch-up pen is only a color coat, too. A color coat and clear coat are applied to modern cars using the 2K method. It won’t match if you simply apply the color. In any case, it won’t match, but there are ways to make it practically invisible.
If you want to carry this out on your own, you must:
1. Use soap, water, and wax remover to clean the area. If you’re just going to use soap, use dishwashing soap because car wash soap won’t get rid of wax.
2. To ensure that you are painting a smooth surface, you might need to add a little amount of glazing putty or another filler if the area is not smooth, such as if the damage caused an indentation in the plastic itself. If you do this, 400 grit sandpaper should be able to smooth it out.
3. Next, using the ink, lightly coat the affected region. Apply another layer after waiting for the paint to flash. Do two to three layers. Use 1000 grit sandpaper to WET sand the paint smooth if it is not smooth (just eyeball it as the spot is small). After any uneven coat, do this.
4. Over that, you should now add a dab of clear coat. Although I’m not sure where to get it, the in-touch bottle is available. Similarly, add several layers. Between coats, watch for the paint to flash. If necessary, sand in between coats. Additionally, once you’ve finished, the area should have more paint on it than the surroundings. After the final application, use 1000 grit or finer sandpaper to smooth the area once the paint is dry and sandable. If you sand a bit into the surrounding area, it won’t matter. That is typical. The sanding scars can be removed once the paint is smooth by lightly polishing it with rubbing compound. Terry fabric can be used to accomplish this by hand.
Although it’s a pain in the ****, if you take the time to do it well, the finished product after polishing will be indistinguishable from the rest. A clear coat is AMAZING for covering minor color inconsistencies.

Mineral spirits are solvents that can be used to take paint off of a variety of surfaces, including your car. Mineral spirits is frequently used by do-it-yourselfers to remove dried paint from touch-up jobs that didn’t turn out as expected. When used cautiously, mineral spirits thin and remove paint effectively and work well on your car.
Wear safety equipment, such as a mask and gloves, before you start the project to prevent injury from the mineral spirits. If these chemicals are left on your skin, they could cause painful burns and harm your lungs. You are prepared to begin once you have put on your safety gear.
Your car must first be washed and dried before you can attempt to remove dried-on touch-up paint from it. After that, dab a cotton swab lightly with mineral spirits. Be careful not to get the spirits on other parts of your car where the paint is in good condition as you gently rub the swab over the dried touch-up paint. The dried paint will gradually come off and smooth out as you rub the swab over the target area.

Workability of automotive paint touch-up pens
Stop right there if you’re looking for the touch-up paint pen for your car. They truly rank among the worst “solutions” for automotive paint dings and scratches. For a living, I repair rock chips and scratches, and I have devoted hundreds of hours to repairing the harm they create. Car dealerships are where I most frequently notice the paint blobs those pens left behind. In order to avoid being penalized by the dealership when they return a car after a lease is finished or when they try to sell it, people may sometimes try to hide up imperfections with paint pens. 95% of the time, touch-up paint pens make the damage appear worse. They are excessively difficult to use, and the outcomes are poor.
Touch-up paint pens are mostly sold by car dealerships and manufacturers as a secondary revenue stream. They don’t really care about how your car looks.
Dr. Colorchip makes the only paint touch-up kit I’ve ever seen that actually works good. I only ever use this paint system.
Does touch-up paint stand out?
- Evaluate whether painting is actually essential. First, try scrubbing the wall with a damp, sudsy sponge to remove any marks. Additionally, you can use a somewhat abrasive paste composed of baking soda and water to gently rub the area. Caution is advised, though, as this mixture is abrasive. In vain? For a flawless touch-up, abide by these guidelines.
- Clean the surface by wiping it with a damp sponge that has been soapy, rinsing it with another damp sponge, and then drying it with a fresh towel.
- Before you begin painting, open the windows to allow for some ventilation.
- You should prime the wall area that you plan to paint. Use a high-quality latex primer, and only touch up the desired area.
- Match the hue of the wall with your touch-up paint. If you don’t have any leftover paint from the original can, visit a business with color-matching equipment and ask them to create a similar hue in the same finish. It’s usually a good idea to preserve extra paint from the original can expressly for repairs.
- Utilize the same applicator you used to paint the wall the first time to preserve the surface texture. Use a similar brush if the wall was painted with a brush; a small, handheld roller if the wall was painted with a roller.
- Use a thinner that has been advised by the paint manufacturer to dilute the paint only a little (10–15%). A small layer of recently painted walls will be far less obvious than a large painted area.
- If the paint has been sitting in your cellar for a long, stir it thoroughly.
- To ensure a seamless transition between the patched-up area and the remainder of the wall, “feather” out the paint. If you’re applying touch-ups with a brush, make your strokes somewhat longer. If using a roller, begin at the center of the space and roll outward, lifting the roller gradually away from the wall as you go.
- Be patient and wait until the paint is totally dry before making any assessments. When dried, a touch-up that is clearly visible when wet could become an identical match.
