How To Set Up Hyundai Key Card?

It is recommended that you always keep your NFC (Near Field Communication) Key Card on hand as a backup key in case your smartphone experiences a power outage or other problem. The card resembles a hotel key card and may therefore be conveniently stored in a wallet or billfold. If the card hasn’t already been associated with the car, please follow these steps:

This card is physical (like a credit card) I didn’t realize it was available for Santa Cruz because I use my EVERY DAY on my Tucson. I put it in my back pocket every day and keep it by the phone charger at night. So helpful for those times when my car is locked and my phone and key fob are somewhere else other than where I am. You could even leave with only that card:

Once you’ve done it, the pair is permanent:) Each vehicle is only permitted to couple one card (not sure why THAT is)

(I’m also not sure why even he says “you can’t use iphone for remote actions” since he is a Hyundai Guy; I think he’s confused about My Hyundai Ap vs. Digital Key (both apps do the SAME thing, but one uses My Hyundai Servers while Hyundai Dig Key uses the onboard NFC chip in the vehicle.) But I use my iphone and Apple watch every day even though everyone said you can ONLY use Android for remote actions.)

You can program the nfc key card without an Android phone. Since I have an iPhone, I was planned to use my daughter’s Android this weekend when I picked up the key card that my salesman had ordered, but when I glanced at the handbook for my hybrid, I noticed that it could be programmed using both smart key fobs at the bottom of page 5-19. I followed these procedures.

Put both keys in the vehicle.

2. Start the vehicle, then choose Setup.

3. Pick a vehicle

4. Select Digital Key by navigating down.

5. Choose Card Key if Enable Digital Keys is not ticked before.

6. Check to see if the Save option is active; if so, insert the key card into the wire charging slot and select the Save option.

I was anticipating an on-screen response but did not receive one, so after waiting for a few minutes, I selected the Digital Key Information option and noticed an Authentication serial number, which led me to believe that the card may have already been programmed (I didn’t look at that screen before beginning so I am unsure if it was blank prior to clicking Save).

I then switched off the vehicle, removed both key fobs, and walked inside. After returning outside, I inserted the key card into the wireless charging slot of the vehicle before starting it and driving around the block.

A Hyundai smart key is what?

A universal car key with convenience and security is called a smart key. Although it has additional features, it resembles the remote control key in appearance. The smart key can lock and open the door from a greater distance than the remote control keys because it connects with the car using low-frequency technology. In addition, the automobile unlocks the door when a smart key is nearby, activates Welcome Motion, and identifies the smart key.

Additionally, most smart keys lack the turnkey starter in favor of buttons. In the past, the immobilizer was controlled by a chip in the key handle. With a smart key, however, the immobilizer is controlled by an antenna, allowing the car to identify and start the vehicle if one is present. You can also use a smart key to park your car outside the vehicle for vehicles like the Hyundai Sonata and the Kia K5 that have Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA). For inexperienced drivers who believe that parking or reversing out of a tight place requires such a move, this feature is helpful.

Why won’t my Hyundai key turn?

A binding steering column or lock, a malfunctioning ignition switch, or a fault with the ignition key are the three most frequent causes of a Hyundai Sonata key that won’t turn. To chat with a specialist about your problem, look through our network of RepairPal Certified stores nearby.

Is Hyundai Digital Key uncomplicated?

Hyundai Digital Key, which enables the Sonata to be unlocked, locked, started, and driven with a smartphone, is a new feature that will debut on the 2020 Sonata. The technology also enables the main user to grant three additional users access to the Digital Key. A “shared key” can truly be sent to a recipient from a great distance away.

Holding your smartphone up to the driver or passenger door handle unlocks the car using Hyundai Digital Key. Simply put the phone in the wireless charger once inside, hit the starter, and drive away. Hyundai Digital Key uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for security, which, unlike Bluetooth, necessitates that the smartphone and scanner be a few centimeters apart in order to operate the vehicle. When you are nearby your automobile, nobody else can simply open the doors and start the engine because of the close proximity.

There is no Hyundai Digital Key for iPhones, however it is compatible with the majority of Android phones. The Hyundai Digital Key system may be configured using the free Digital Key App, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Although you can lock and start your car without the app open, it also has Bluetooth-enabled features that let you do other things like engage other features when the app is open.

Hyundai Digital Key eliminates the need for the Sonata’s two smart keys, which still come with the vehicle and allow for passive entry and keyless start. Additionally, you’ll get an NFC Key Card that you can keep in your wallet and use as a backup phone for iPhone users, for valet services, while you leave the Sonata for maintenance, or if your Android phone runs out of battery.

Hyundai Digital Key, the most recent development in car and smartphone connection, makes its debut on the 2020 Sonata and will likely be a feature on upcoming models that Hyundai introduces or redesigns.
