After experimenting with a number of options, including repeatedly restarting iDrive, I ultimately uninstalled the iPhone from iDrive AND deleted the BMW from my iPhone’s bluetooth manager. For whatever reason, doing just one did not work.

Carplay stuck in speech mode, please help
Okay, let’s get to it. My phone enters voice mode each and every time it connects to use CarPlay. The system will now be listening for my speech instead of the music I was previously listening to on the radio. Additionally, when playing music in Carplay, some speakers now output it at a reduced quality, as if it were a phone call. This has been occurring on both my current 12 and my previous phone, an XR. This also occurs in every vehicle I drive, including my GMC, Ram, BMW (3 different models), and Mini. Therefore, it is unrelated to the type of phone, the make and model of the vehicle, or whether Carplay is wireless (BMW) or plugged in (GMC). Getting into a $60k car with my $1000 phone and having everything go wrong is very annoying and embarrassing. Is there a chance that this catastrophe can be fixed? This has persisted for almost a year despite many iOS updates, hard reboots of the phone, etc.
Speech mode is enabled in Spotify for CarPlay.
I’ve been using Spotify with CarPlay on my BMW 330e for a few months now, and today, out of the blue, music playing switches to Speech Mode, which is essentially the mode CarPlay enters for calls and other stuff. This results in music being played at a very low volume with no acoustics. The experience is intolerable as a result! Since none of the other apps I tried, including Apple Music and a few others, had this problem, I am positive that this is a Spotify problem. I would hate to have to stop using Spotify due to this problem. Is there a fix for this? What I have attempted is as follows:
Therefore, please take into account the things I’ve already tried before making any suggestions to me. Any assistance would be much appreciated!
I almost switched to Apple Music for the 30 minutes I had to drive today because of this problem, even though I truly do not want to.

I experienced a similar or identical incident. Does music that is being played seem more like speech audio than actual media audio?
Strangely, it automatically turned back to media volume after I texted someone by saying “hello Siri.” Therefore, for me, the solution was to naturally convert the car to speech audio mode using Siri or a similar program. Once you’re done, it might then be forced to go through the iDrive programming again, which switches audio back to media.
Just re-read your first message in which you mentioned utilizing Siri; perhaps you should give Hey Siri a try? God alone knows why that may matter. Or perhaps have someone give you a call.
You might not get a response because this is an old thread, and you might be restarting an old thread. Consider starting a new thread, please.

Using the iDrive’s speech recognition system, you may activate and use Siri inside your BMW.
BMW is making significant investments to improve the integration of smartphones and related features inside vehicles. There are currently many programs that can be operated directly from the iDrive system, but you can now go a step further and use personal assistants as well.
I’m obviously referring to Siri. For whatever reason, iPhones are receiving extra attention, but we won’t moan about it. After all, they do appear to be very well-liked among BMW owners (maybe those stereotypes are true after all).
But did you know that inside a BMW, Siri can be activated and used without touching your phone? You will benefit from the iDrive system’s Speech feature in this situation so that you can always keep your concentration on the road. We believe it’s a smart idea given the increased number of accidents brought on by distracted drivers who are using their phones.
So, this is how it’s done. The first step is to pair your phone with the car’s Bluetooth system or using an adapter made specifically for Apple goods. Then, hold down the voice button on your steering wheel for a few seconds. Your iDrive screen will then display a microphone symbol, indicating that the Bluetooth-connected device is now listening in place of the vehicle’s infotainment system.
Now, instead of speaking to the car, you are conversing with your phone. The commands would have been understood by the iDrive rather than the phone if you had merely pressed the speech button.
From this point on, Siri will carry out any and all tasks you ask of it, not just those the vehicle is capable of. For instance, you can dictate messages or set reminders in your phone’s memory.
You only need to press stop to end Siri and return to the infotainment system in your automobile. Now, you may switch between using the iDrive or the phone’s assistant depending on whether you push or press and hold the voice button. It is that simple. To make sure you understand how this is done, we have also included a video below.
How can I disable speech mode?

Advice: TalkBack speaks the password characters to you by default. You can modify your phone’s settings to prevent it from speaking characters in secure fields unless headphones are plugged in. Study up on spoken passwords.
How is the BMW voice control reset?
I have a 2010 November BMW 525D model car. When I first got the car, the voice control feature worked perfectly, but now when I press the button on the steering wheel, nothing happens. I checked the settings and discovered that the Voice Control language setting is disabled and that I am unable to enable it because it is in GREY SHADE. Could you please assist me in activating it?
What do you mean by IDrive ON first off? Second, which volume button—the one on the steering wheel or the one on top of the air conditioner—do I press? If you can, send me photographs or a video to explain.
2) Without placing your foot on the clutch or brake, press the START button ( switches on electronics without starting the car)
3) Give everything a few seconds to start functioning (Idrive screen, radio, navigation, etc.).
4) For at least 30 seconds, turn the volume knob on the center console below the Idrive screen ( not the one on the steering wheel)
5) The Idrive screen will go blank after around 30 seconds and then display only BMW.
I tried pressing the knob for even a minute, but nothing happened after numerous attempts, friend.
I’m not aware of any changes being made to that feature on the 5 series. works with both the 7 and 3 Series.
After making numerous unsuccessful attempts, I went to the service center where they checked everything out and upgraded the software to something like version 12.05.500, and now voice control works just perfectly. My 525d is an F10, not an E90.
